This week we take a page from the Book of the Dead and adapt the skeleton as a Starfinder playable character option. Let's get dem bones!

Beautiful. When 2E happens we should be able to directly use the Book of the Dead ancestry. =)

Liberty's Edge

I really wanted Pharasma to be the one to go.

Liberty's Edge

With the economy being that ships do not cost money and cannot be sold for money, the economy would need to significantly change to make more sense to me.

As it stands, the galaxy pretty much is at a point of post-scarcity, so that there is no fundamental reason why anyone could just not own a ship and parse the galaxy through the drift. Heck, the entire Fly Free AP, all you end up getting is build points, which cannot be exchanged for credits, thus you cannot really get wealthier.

This to me is the fundamental problem with the Starfinder Economy. No one goes hungry, UPBs cost 1 credit so there is no real reason to ever get credits because you can make/buy anything with the magic pieces of nanotech.

Liberty's Edge

Color me confused. Three Blog Posts and I don't know what the stories mean other than they are "safe."

Liberty's Edge

With it being at the end, my group just finishing up Horizons of the Vast, we are now going to Pathfinder 2E to get a feel for the rules. Sad day when the baton gets passed.

I don't trust Phrasma because she has a vested interest in the "flow of souls." I mean, what if we have a culture that reveres undead in a completely normal, non-evil, way?

I remember seeing this in a GURPS product where a Christian sect in Banestorm celebrated creating undead because of "Saint Lazarus" and it was in fact a sacrament to create the skeletal workforce.

It is my understanding that Pharasma does not care one bit whether undead do good or do evil. She just wants them all gone.

Yeah, which is kinda messed up because 99% of undead, either intelligent or mindless, did not choose to become undead.

I have a question since I really haven't done society stuff since Season 1.... what ever happened to the AbyssHead download that was in 1-06?

Liberty's Edge

I don't have the Player Core, so will the original 2E Core Rules be alright?

Liberty's Edge 2/5 5/5

Always kept doing Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) because I didn't want to keep putting prestige into multiple different seekers =P

When I'm done running Mechageddon!, I'm going to mostly GM Starfinder 2 with some PF2 pieces mixed in there. Maybe get wild and throw my players through a portal or something. I might even homebrew mech rules and run those until I can convince Thursty to let me put them in the official game. ;)

I would hope that people like yourself start converting the 1E APs to 2E =)

Liberty's Edge

Is there currently a mechanic where people can look at a map of the galaxy or look at the sky and point to a star and find a path to that system? Like blind exploration? Right now it is you just follow beacons and get to your destination, but what if I see a Type K star "here" and want to go explore it, do some calculations and enter the drift.

From the Starfinder 2nd Edition Playtest FAQ .

"To start, we’re announcing the Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Rulebook, which is set to release in Summer 2024. The size of this book is going to be based on exactly how many rules we think are critical to the initial playtest, and we’ll lock that in over the coming months. We’ll announce other products as we get closer to release, but for now the focus is set on the playtest rulebook."

Awesome thanks!

Much like the PF2e had a playtest book that went out to people that purchased it, will the same be a thing for the Starfinder 2e playtest?

I only ask because the softcover playtest book looks totally awesome on my shelf and is a good bookmark into the history.

I really hope that the starship combat does not suck. As it is now, it is a challenge unless you do it like all the time and everyone in your group loves it and also practices it.

If I have to do a PF2e game I will obviously want to play a Stellifera or Dragonkin.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, got my PDF today because my order shipped, and I am pretty "meh" about the book.

I mean is is pretty much what you would expect; 12 SFS scenarios. I guess I just wanted more.

One hopes that this will be one of the APs that get translated over to SF 2e like Kingmaker was ported to 2e =)

I have a feeling that Drow and Apostae are not going away from official Starfinder.

Luwazi Elsebo forever!

Liberty's Edge

Can't you just take a gun you find and just use that in the scaling weapons thing? I mean if it has the properties you want, and just use the scaling from there...

Yeah I saw that and immediately was more excited because Arcadia rocks.

Liberty's Edge

I guess it is cool that after the two hard covers I will have an entire lines worth of adventure paths. For Pathfinder 1E I get in at Iron Gods, so I guess this is an accomplishment?

I kinda like them being a Space Rogue... =)

This looks neat so far. Oh, and FANTASY GROUNDS > Foundry =P

I hope that players are easier to kill because geez, just use up some stamina and they are back in the fight!

Please don't make the operative suck. It is my go to character and I love my Dragonkin operative.

I chuckled at that since I backed it when it first went up, like on 5/22/19. They might as well just stop and work on SF2E at this point since we don't got our products over 3 years later.

So why is Starfinder Enhanced a thing? The timing seems really off.

Liberty's Edge

Mechageddon is hardcover too?

Liberty's Edge

Wait, no pocket edition?

Liberty's Edge

I haven't used exp in a d20 system in so long I cannot even remember. Hell, I just think it is used by my in video games and that is it. It always just seemed like an "extra" think to keep track.

I do like how you don't have to dedicate a page or two to reference the ORC like the OGL you have to. It is like a little box you have to have to indicate that it uses the ORC.

Liberty's Edge

Corpsefolk.

Liberty's Edge

I tend to think of the ORC as something of a buffet. Multiple publishers are going to publish their rules and content under the ORC, and we players/designers/game masters get to pick what we like from the buffet.

"A pinch of Starfinder, a cup of Pathfinder, maybe some <insert other publisher>. Add in my own flair and BAM! Creative and new product!"

So is there any news? I signed up to receive updates but I have not gotten a single one. I have heard about the discord, but have not seen an invite or anything.

YES KOBOLD!

EDIT: Oh crap, its been 6 years already?

All operatives, different specializations.

Kobolds are the best part of the book =).

Looks like meat is back on the menu boys!

Liberty's Edge

Yeah the actual mechanics of PF 1e probably didn't need the vast majority of the OGL, and probably held them back more than anything.

But yeah, given how ubiquitous corpsefolk are on Eox, it's a real shame we don't have PC stats for them yet.

Especially since the PF2 dead book just came out with playable REAL undead.

Sweet, a RAW example. Thanks man!

Liberty's Edge

During my current campaign (HoTV), a person wants to be raised as a corpsefolk since the traditional means of resurrection are not possible (its been too long). Has there been a RAW approach on how this can be facilitated?

Liberty's Edge

My group has a mechanic with the vehicle option so they have been traveling in style the whole 1st book. They even made it amphibious at level 2 so they could easily recon the water hexes.

Like, true "healed by negative energy, hurt by positive energy with full undead immunities" undead? Because we already have the "pseudo-undead" in the form of borais and varculaks (I'm honestly not sure why we got varculaks in the first place, their lore is cool but they felt kind of redundant with the borai already available).

Yeah undead undead, not fake undead =). Last campaign I was in I had to hack in the undead graft to my space goblin and it was not a 100% solution because it was not RAW. I had to be super careful because I could not receive normal healing... thus having to take a level of Technomancer so he could use Necromantic Revitalization. Death death was a constant worry because if reduced to zero or lower hit points was death death.

I want an option for it to be official because there is a whole planet full of ghouls and corpsefolk DYING to be played =).

Liberty's Edge

We need a playable undead.
