The "showing up at the funeral" part is indeed awesome. However, I think for my campagin it will work best if AA and the proffesor had a "Proffesor X VS. Magnito" relationship - known enemies, though they never actually violantly attacked each other. instead of debating the place of mutants in society they debated the subject of death and undeath - each of them had very diffrent views. AA was actually saddened by the news of Lorrimor's death, as the aging proffesor was one of the only living beings AA felt could (nearly) present a fine match for his intellect and capabilities. Plus, any avidance of how easy it is to end the life of great men brings sorrow to AA. If the PCs could be convinced that Lorrimor and Adivion are intellectual opponents and nothing more, I think I will be able to build some nice drama around it.
