The being known as Nm-0 came online approximately 5 years ago on the machine world of Aballon. A melded creature of machine and bio mass, his mind almost immediately tried to process and understand himself and the world he was brought into for reasons he did not know. The bronze colored android with electric blue lines of circuitry that run the length of his form, began a search that would consume his life: the search for knowledge of how he and his people came into existence. Nm-0 was particularly curious about his own intelligence and wether it was created by another biological life form or if was willed into being by some metaphysical power. Fueled by an almost preternatural curiosity, the android began his search for deeper understanding.

Nm-0, who found most beings amalgamated his name to the nickname “Nemzo” as that name was easier to say then his alpha-numeric designation, began his quest on his home planet quickly becoming an expert at most things mechanical. In a few short years, he could hack, build and program most computers he came across and could build a number of mechanical constructs from scratch. While his knowledge and skill increased dramatically, he found that he was no closer to discovering the mystery of artificial life and intelligence than when he began. Nemzo loved Aballon and being amongst machine life, but realized he needed to expand his intellectual voyage. Specifically, he realized he needed to study the other aspect of himself, the aspect he truly did nor like to recognize, his biology.

Nemzo secured a scholarship and passage to Castrovel where he attended university, placing his mechanical skills on hold as he dove ravenous into learning all he could about the life sciences. In a few short years, Nm-0 earned an advanced degree specializing in bioengineering. Though not still comfortable communicating with biologicals, the university staff convinced Nemzo to share his knowledge by becoming a professor. The android overcame his unease with life forms and accepted a position on the faculty. While he truly enjoyed the academic environment, he still found his ultimate goal elusive. Nm-0 took a sabbatical and returned to his place of birth to contemplate his next move.

Once again immersed in the mechanical world, Nemzo sought to apply his knowledge and began to experiment using his collective knowledge of both mechanical and biological life. The android, now more commonly knowns as “Professor Nemzo”, began to experiment in the hopes of unlocking the secret to created intelligence. After nearly a full year of work, Nemzo had a breakthrough. He succeeded on creating an artificial intelligence. Naming his creation “ZIRA” after a popular movie action hero, the android formed an immediate bond with his creation. Nemzo had the AI’s housing implanted in his own android brain so that their communication could be simple and efficient without the need for cumbersome biological speech at all times. Nm-0 spent the next several months attempting to unlock ZIRA’s potential.

Having made another fundamental leap forward in his studies, Nemzo frustratingly found himself at another dead end. This barrier, however, was much more difficult to overcome than those previous…the Gap. Nm-0’s long journey hd led him to the edges of human knowledge that were now clouded by the void of information represented by the Gap. In this, Nemzo found his mind taxed nearly to the limits, as he formed the opinion with certainty that his answers to his questions lie somewhere in the knowledge, data and information swallowed by the Gap. But what was he to do? Fortunately, he soon found he was not alone in this particular quest for data.

Nm-0 discovered the organization known as the Satrfinder Society, an organization pledged to discover the same secrets his addiction to information now compels him to pursue. Delving into more pointed research about the Society, he found a faction within the society whose goals nearly mirrored his own, the dataphiles. Nemzo reached out to the groups leader, Historia-7. Nemzo was delighted to hear the leader of the organization was a fellow android and Historia-7 was intrigued by the Professor’s academic credentials and practical accomplishments. She welcomed him into the ranks of the dataphiles where Nemzo now searches the stars with fellow agents to peel back the veil of the gap and, hopefully, finally discover the true nature of artificial life.
