About Nilgaar

Nilgaar is the bastard son of a bastard son. He grew up on the streets since his mother was hardly home and his father (whoever that was) was never more than a sperm donor who knocked his mom up during a drunken revel. He learned to get by with his strength and ability to intimidate or coerce others. As he got older he learned how to use less violent means to get what he wanted with lies and smooth talk. However, he always had his strength and skill with a blade to fall back on if that didn't work.
When he was 16, he took sick and thought he was going to die. For three days a local priest who cared for the poor and homeless took care of him. None of his healing magic, salves, or herbal concoctions did a thing to relieve his symptoms. On the fourth day, Nilgaar suddenly recovered with miraculous rapidity, but there was something itching under his skin, a burning in his blood.
For several days, the sensation continued and he felt some kind of niggling voice in the back of his head trying to tell him something. When a local rival tried to steal Nilgaar's coin pouch a few days later, something came over Nilgaar. The itching sensation, the niggling voice in his head, the burning blood... it all came to a head and he pointed his hands at the rat bastard trying to roll him and a sheet of flames flew from his fingertips. It scorched the thief and nearly killed him. The other boy and his thug friends ran away terrified and spread the word that Nilgaar was some kind of devil spawn. That was just fine by Nilgaar.
Over the years since then Nilgaar learned a few other magical tricks. He has come to the realiziation that he has sorcery in his blood. He has no idea who to thank for it, but it's helped him out a few times.
Lately, he's decided to use his skills with his favorite weapon (the spiked chain) and his magic in the gladiatorial arena to earn some extra coin and a little bit of notoriety.

Nilgaar is 6'2" with tanned and creased skin from spending too many hours in the sun and frowing/squinting a lot. He wears a ragged leather explorer's outfit over a chain shirt and a wide-brimmed, drooping black hat. His face and arms are tattooed with various patterns of little to no significant meaning other than he liked the way they looked. Nilgaar filed his teeth to points when he was 14 on a dare. He doesn't show his teeth often, and usually to flash a death grin to those he intends to kill.
