Well, I'd already tried that with CutePDF and it didn't work, perhaps it will work with some other combination of software, perhaps not.
As I mentioned earlier, opening the PDF with Foxit Reader (a free and light program) and then printing through CutePDF works.

Paizo needs to pay the rent. Easiest way to do that is sell more product. I don't see how lowering the security (and in this case, removing a significant portion of it) accomplishes that goal.
As I posted in some other thread, I'm not especially aggravated by Paizo restrictions on PDFs, but I would still prefer for them to be lifted.
The current edition of GURPS is almost PDF only in distribution and SJ Games releases PDFs without any restrictions at all and it seems to work well enough for them.
To make myself clear, I'm not upset with Paizo for their current policy and they certainly don't owe me anything, But I still like SJ Policy even more... I appreciate the idea of maximizing the convenience for honest customers. After all, as other have pointed out, Paizo PDFs are available for illegal download and the pirates get a product with none of the restrictions.

Just did it from Adobe Acrobat + CutePDF of Bestiary 2 today. It happened on everything of Paizo's I've tried.
Try Foxit Reader + CutePDF, it seems to work.
Qyrath wrote: I have really enjoyed the book, but I would really really like a PDF copy. Will this be available at any point? As far as I know, the PDF version is only available through BattleCorps or Drivethru.
The PDF is full-color and of high quality.
Ernest Mueller wrote: On the technical side of this, I've tried to print specific pages of the Paizo PDFs to PDF using CutePDF but somehow it knows and won't do it - I have no idea how that can even happen, but it does. It appears to work, but when you open the PDF you printed it's blank except for an error code Which PDFs did you have a problem with? I tried printing a few times with CutePDF and everything went fine.
Thanks for taking the time to provide this detailed explanation, I appreciate it.

Believe me, we've checked as many shippers as we can find, and none of them even come *close* to the USPS price. UPS and FedEx would each charge $141.19 to ship you that 4.2 pound package. (We've tried others as well; USPS International Priority beats the pants off them all.)
My guess is that your rates may be so favorable because the New Zealand Post might still offer surface mail. The USPS eliminated surface mail a few years ago, so everything has to go by air. Noble Knight Games offers something called USPS International Surface Air Lift - Printed Matter. Putting the PF Core rulebook in the cart and using the shipping calculator, I get a quote of $16.40 to Italy (where I live) and a quote $22.23 for New Zealand. They also offer something called FIMS – International Mail Service, which gives a quote of $27.41 for New Zealand.
The issue with the payment for those two orders should have been solved. Could you try to process them again?

thanks,
Sara Marie Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.
Still awaiting for an answer on this one...
As I wrote, although not extensive, some minor damage resulted from the revoval of the flap.
I have a question about Evadare. In the last stories of the colletion she is no longer mentioned; does she appear in some of the novels or does she just quietly "disappear"?

Mine as well! :-)
Hi,
my copy of the Varnhold Vanishing included in this order has a print defect. I don't know the techincal term, but is is something that I've seen other times, especially with magazines: the corners exceed the normal size of a page and are folded back on the respective pages.
Robert Miller 55 wrote: Been trying to personalize my Dragon 295 for over 20 minutes now.
Then again, the whole site seems to be slow today, so maybe its more of a server issue rather than just the personalizer.
Personally, I always have issues with the personalizer. It always takes a lot of patience when I need to download something.
Yes, a discount would have been appreciated. I'm not terribly excited about the idea of having to print the substitution page by myself.
If I bought a book like that from a bookshop, I'd be likely to return it. I'm not doing it in this case because I want to support the Planet Stories line, but still a missing page is somewhat disappointing.
I see from the product description that, due to a printing error, this book has a missing page.
I was wondering about how this will be dealt with. Will a replacement page be shipped to subscribers at a later date or is the PDF the only thing that will be provided?
It might be a glitch in the way Prince of Wolves is listed inside the system. It appears in my order for May as well.
Erik Mona wrote: Glad you guys are digging this. Please keep checking in with your thoughts! I'm also really enjoying this one... I've just begun and it's a real treat. I'm taking the advice in the introduction and I'm reading it slowly, one short story at the time.
The settings and the characters are fascinating and, as it has already been remarked, the writing is just beautiful.
Without the Planet Stories line, it's very likely that I would never have even heard about this book...
Fair enough and thanks for taking the time to explain this to me.

No and no...
Why no to the first question? Surely the information is known by you since you are going to honor the order on a first come first served basis.
Vic Wertz wrote:
Yes... but with limited-run products, there is always the possibility that we won't get everything we order; if that happens, they'll be fulfilled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
That sounds very reasonable. I've got a couple of follow-up questions.
1) is it possible to know what place in the "queue" a specific order occupies?
2) Do you have a rough estimate on when you'll know for sure how many of the miniatures will actually be delivered by the distributor?
Thanks in advance.
I just placed an order for it. Will the system stop accepting orders once the number that you'll have available are accounted for?
I'm also wondering about the fact that I've read that this mini would be available only to stores that participated in the latest Game Day.
I must admit that I probably didn't get what you wrote.
I was actually making a joke... of course the purpose of copy protection is to prevent the duplication of IP. My point is that restrictive protection such as DRM causes honest users some hardships, while it actuality it does little to prevent the proliferation of illegal material.
Vic Wertz wrote:
I'm just going to say that we consider our own copy protection methods a success. They're not perfect, and they never will be, but we've managed to catch and cut off many offenders while remaining reasonably unobtrusive to legitimate purchasers.
Fair enough. As I said, I'm OK with watermarks, it's DRM that I dread...

this is a case where (I'm pretty sure) the end result will likely be dictated by what the resellers have to offer. (That is, given the choice between watermarking and DRM, we'd probably pick watermarking; given the choice between DRM and nothing, we'd go with DRM; and if a particular outlet offered no copy protection whatsoever, we'd most likely just not sell there.) Sounds sensible to me. Personally, I think that the only purpose of copy protection is to annoy honest users... pirated versions of protected material are almost always available and they have none of the hassle of the legitimate copies. I hate DRM, but I'm cool with watermarks, because they are rather unobtrusive. Still, I love SJ Games for not putting any copy protection of their PDFs.

Note that Erik refers to the new hardcover as Pathfinder Campaign Setting World Guide: The Inner Sea. Note the missing "Chronicles" there. Further down, Erik refers to the "Campaign Setting product line", so indeed it looks like we are in for Pathfinder Campaign Setting in the future.
Yes, it seems that the chronicles line will change name to "Campaign Setting product line".

Unlikely, but maybe. These gods are dead, and I'm wary about giving the official indication that they might not be permanently dead is all...
Well, a game set in the past could use that information... after all, at some point in time, these gods were officially alive and where granting powers to their followers.

Never mind, I see that the order is now about to ship. :-)
I've noticed from the product page that Dungeon Alphabet is currently listed as on backorder. Is this book delaying the rest of the shipment?
Sara Marie wrote: Just curious, would peeps like and/or find it useful if we posted a stickied thread on the Customer Service messageboard whenever the offices were closed for holidays? Seems like a good idea to me. It's useful, if you go directly to the forum page.
I'm sure that no store in Italy will participate, but hopefully Paizo will offer the mysterious item for sale on the website, as they did in the previous years. :-)
DaphneNaiadAngelos wrote: Website: I think it's in French.
What gives with this? Is it even legal?
Of course it is. Black Book is the French licensee for Pathfinder, as Ulisses Spiele is in Germany and Wyrd Edizioni in Italy.
Thanks for the clarification. Part of confusion was also due to the fact that the sentence continues with "Iramine learned that her past associates were both dead,...". and in the present year, it's obvious that both men would be dead.
Now I understand that the meaning is that Iramine learned that Kassen and Asar killed each other while fighting for the key (and thus she could surmise that their pieces might be buried with them).
I'm a bit confused about the background of this adventure. From the description, it seems that not many years have passed since Iramine was separated from Kassen and Asar, but according to the introduction of Crypt of the Everflame, Kassen died in 4535.

Btw, S&H really is driving tears into my eyes. Is there no way to ship cheaper to Europe? blame the US postal service on that one... when they did away with oversea postage internationally, the 2 cheapest international postage options went away. If you experiment, you can fit a lot into the flat rate boxes though, so you may be able to add more without having it go up any higher Some online stores offer something called "USPS International Surface Air Lift" which is considerably cheaper than the other options. Couldn't Paizo use it too?
Whole you wait for an official answer, I'll offer my full sympathies.
As a fellow Italian, I know fully well how things can get mired in our customs offices; not to mention that they often over-charge the custom duties, conveniently ignoring that books and printed material have reduced duties.
Seldriss wrote: If you buy a PDF, it is personalized for you, therefore you cannot buy it several times.
Instead, use the Paizo Gift Certificates
Buying a gift certificate is certainly an option. From the email that was sent from Paizo, I understood that I could directly purchase a PDF for someone else and after checkout it would be added to their download pages.
I'd like to purchase two PDFs as a gift, but since I already own them, the store won't let me add them to my shopping cart. Am I missing something?
Thanks, probably I posted something in the product discussion while the bug was in the system...
The Product Reviews box in My Account lists 3 reviews, while I've never reviewed a product on this site.
It's not really important, but I've always wondered at the reason for this...
I received the package today and, according to the stamps, it was shipped on the 10th.
It's not a big deal, I realize that you guys were swamped and somehow I did manage to survive for those days... ;-)
PFRPG orders were supposed to be shipped so as to ensure a delivery reasonably close to to the 13th. So I 'm wondering, why was my order shipped to Italy only on August the 11th?
By that date, some people (both in the US and abroad) had already received their copy...

That is the method by which they "watermark" the PDFs that are downloaded. It is a method to discern pirate scum. :)
Yes, but since those PDFs are free anyway, there isn't much point in watermarking them.
