Female Human (Vudrani) Rogue (Spy)
I'm NB on the map. I'll be gone this weekend starting tomorrow. As far as Nigani goes, feel free to NPC her. At this point she'll still behave like a standard rogue, trying to flank or otherwise get sneak attacks and stab with her rapier while avoiding being the center of attention.

"Say no more." A wide grin appears on Nigani's face. She struts over to where Jack was seated and places hand on his shoulder, "Just the man I need. An old owl told me you were a bit down on your luck and wanted to get to Jalmeray, is it true? I might be able to help you on both." She smiles sweetly at the man, her hand resting nonchalantly on her rapier in case he, or another man, tries anything funny. Diplomacy 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

Sending a pigeon home could take weeks before there was an answer and she wasn't even sure they'd send a ship. She put away her rapier, "Well, I guess that'll give me a chance to pick up my things as well. I wonder how we'll fare, four women and an older, no offense, man in a district ruled by men who have been stuck at sea for months at a time. Could be hilarious." She was sure that anyone who tried to do anything to one of them would end up gutted in an alley, or at least with problems sitting.

And there goes her ticket home. With a graceful flourish she draws her rapier, "I don't like this. I want to know what's going on. I need to know what's going on." Nigani starts pacing around the room, waving patterns in the air with her rapier until she decides to instead go through the entire room in search of something of significance. She would be going home. Home! Well, not really home, but close enough. When the man talked about the isle she smiled. That was the short version of it all, the isle itself was far more wondrous. When the other woman mentions being curious about the music she smiles. "If you are interested in the music I can play you a tune when we're on the boat. I'm afraid I left my sitar in my lodgings." She nodded and smiled once more, "My name is Nigani, and I will be going home."

The last bit is under faction where it's explained why a Vudrani woman is in the Taldoran pathfinder faction. As for the other, it seems I forgot to move it all there from word (as I tend to save my backgrounds for all my characters on hard drive)
I completed Morkrat's background, actually turning him into a slave of the temple Background
Morkrat once again excelled in his job, growing into his function better and faster than either his master or the chief pit boss suspected. Both were especially delighted by the fact that Morkrat seemed to show no mercy as he punished all equally and only made exceptions if they would benefit the mine in the long run. It wasn't long before they decided to groom him to be the next chief pit boss when the current chief would take his place as the master's right hand in running the master's business outside the mine. Morkrat seemingly didn't care for this further increase in quality of life but was delighted by the recognition he received. All this ended when the temple of Abraxas demanded it's tithe from the master in the form of a sacrifice of his most prized, but expendable, slave. The master had no choice but to hand Morkrat to the temple. Morkrat was held together with the other slaves that were meant for sacrifice once all were collected. Many were depressed and cried but Morkrat was stoic, not showing any outward sign of distress. Even when they lead him to the altar for sacrifice he didn't show any emotion. Impressed by this show of mental strength the nobleman in charge of the temple guards halted the ceremony and offered one of his own slaves and some of his own blood in exchange for Morkrat's life. It was on that day that Morkrat joined the temple guard, surviving a sacrifice ceremony with only the symbol of Abraxus carved in his chest to show for it. His job now was to keep an eye on the other, "normal" temple slaves and to escort priestesses around the city.
While I could see him as a temple slave, I doubt he'd be an actual member of the church. The reason for that mainly is because, as a monk, he has to be lawful and that's a less than perfect for for demon worship. That issue could be solved by saying he's a slave owned by the city loaned to the the temple to help keep other slaves in line (he'd have started his job as a slave and then pitboss at some city industry). His job at the temple would simply be keeping other slaves in line, though secretly he is also ordered to keep an eye on the temple's priestesses. When Zalazra got the demon armor the city rulership might have gotten a little afraid and told him to pay special attention to her, which would be why he tagged along. As for deity, Morkrat himself would be a follower of Zon-Kuthon, or something similar, accepting the whippings and punishment that come with being a slave in stride. EDIT: Another idea would be that he is owned by Zalazra's house and he is appointed as her whipping boy, so he's to get whipped whenever she deserves the lashings. |
