About Neskari Kataparan--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
Druid 1
Appearance:
Neskari strikes the observer as a strange figure. Tall for an elf with sun browned skin and bleached hair he seams almost out of place in the garb and gear typical to the Badawi. Despite the oddity of seeing an elf in Badawi garb his speach and mannerisms make it obvious that he has spent a great deal of time amongst the desert tribes of Katapesh. Neskari usually has a look of tranquility and quiet contemplation when out in the deserts and savannas but in the cities he has a look of perpetual amusement and slight disdain as he observes the efforts people go to to keep the desert out. Favored Deities: Desna Neskari has spent almost the entirety of his life living amongst the Badawi after having been rescued from the desert by a group of Badawi druids. His earliest memories are from when he was a small boy living and traveling with his family. His father, an elven merchant and antiquities dealer often took the entire family on his business ventures and trips around the world and it was during one of these trips that Neskari was seperated from his family. While traveling across the desert the caravan he and his family were apart of was struck by a sudden and fierce sand storm. In the rush to find shelter before the storm hit Neskari became separated from his family and quickly became lost when the raging winds and sands of the storm blurred everything from his vision. Stumbling through the wind with the sand stinging his skin, burning his lungs, and blinding him Neskari fought to find shelter while calling out for his parents. As if guided by fate Neskari stumbled through the storm to the edge of an oasis. Falling to the ground exhausted from fighting the storm Neskari was surprised to find the winds calm and the air cool. Raising his head Neskari gasped as he took in the sight. All around the sandstorm raged, whipping sand in great lashes through the air, but here in the oasis the air was clear and cool and the winds calm like a great bubble of tranquility amongst the terror of the storm. The whole oasis lay in cool shadows as the raging storm, somehow held back from the oasis, blocked out most of the sun's light. Pushing himself to his feet he looked in wonder at the trees, flowers, and bushes of the oasis. Even in the shadowy twilight light of the storm the vivid colors stood out against the colors of the brown desert and Neskari was amazed that such beauty could exist amongst the harshness of the desert. Walking forward Neskari carefully made his way through the trees and undergrowth, occassionaly stopping to smell a flower or to touch the bark of a tree as if to test that they were real. Making his way towards the center of the oasis Neskari was further surprised when after pushing a large leaf out of the way he discovered seven individuals, dressed in the garb of the desert tribes, standing around a tranquil pool looking at him. Not sure what to do at first Neskari was surprised when one of the individuals turned and offering a hand asked him to come forward and drink from the pool. From that moment forward Neskari has spent his life amongst the sands of the desert and the grass of the savanna. Adopted by the druids of the oasis with whom his natural longevity didn't seem as out of place, Neskari spent his life living amongst and serving the Badawi. Convinced that his family was lost to the desert sands Neskari has come to appreciate the brevity with which many of those who inhabit the deserts and lands of Katapesh live. Whether it be from gnolls, war, starvation, or the Desert Mother herself, Neskari has witnessed the lives of many a friend and tribesman cut short. Neskari has embraced the life of a desert nomad and has spent his time aiding and sheparding people across the desert while also defending its rare resources from those, whether human or gnoll, who would seek to exploit them. Part of Neskari still wonders what happened to his family and the caravan they were in but he has come to love the deserts and savannas of Katapesh and always remembers that what the desert claims is best let go. |
