Race: Gillman
Riverfolk: Some gillmen groups live in colonies along vast riverways, and have adapted to living on land for much longer periods. Gillmen with this trait have a thin coating of natural oil that keeps their skin from cracking even without water. However, this natural oil also makes such gillmen particularly susceptible to flames, and they gain vulnerability to fire. This racial trait replaces water dependent.
Sorcerer FCB x5 (lvl 4-8): Add one spell known from the sorcerer spell list. This spell must be at least one level below the highest spell level the sorcerer can cast.
Class: Sorcerer
Proficiency with simple weapons.
Bloodline, Verdant.
Bonus Spells: entangle (3rd), barkskin (5th), speak with plants (7th), command plants (9th), wall of thorns (11th), transport via plants (13th), plant shape III (15th), animate plants (17th), shambler (19th).
Tanglevine (Sp): At 1st level, as a standard action, you can create a 15-foot-long, animated vine that springs from your hand. This vine lasts for 1 round and can be used to make a single disarm, steal, or trip combat maneuver, using your sorcerer level plus your Charisma modifier in place of your normal CMB. You can use this power a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.
Photosynthesis (Ex): At 3rd level, you feed upon nature’s raw essence. Your need to eat and sleep is reduced as if wearing a ring of sustenance, and you gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws made against poison and sleep effects. At 9th level, these bonuses increase to +4.
Background:
Sephne grew up in the River Kingdoms, her family part of a small Gillmen clan of raiders, thieves, and treasure seekers. Her sorcerous powers began to manifest when she was young, although her family history had no known link to any such bloodline -- others in her clan were only known to draw power from their aberrant blood, a throwback to their ancient Aboleth masters. Sephne had heard all of the old tales but has only seen an actual Aboleth once in her life; when she swam too deep, in a lake she’d be warned to avoid. Finding that monster in the depths was the first time she’d known true terror.
Sephne had tried to warn her family and her clan; but it was not news to them. Already somewhat ostracised for her unusual powers, the discovery that many of her friends and relatives were already under the Aboleth’s sway was the last push she needed to strike out on her own.
For several years Sephne has traveled, often teaming up with other adventurers for odd jobs wherever she wandered. She had little interest in settling down anywhere, but has spent the last two or three years around Magnimar. The city was large and varied enough to hold her interest, and she still spends most days exploring the streets. Eventually she knows wanderlust will draw her away, and her eyes are always open to opportunities for adventure.
Appearance/Personality:
Sephne is a kind-hearted and carefree soul. Outgoing and adventurous, she enjoys meeting new people and exploring new places. She is usually pleasant to everyone, to the point of being far too gullible and trusting towards those she barely knows. A constant optimist, she tries to see the best in everyone she meets -- though this outlook makes her a con-artist’s dream. Sephne has a genuine knack for making new friends wherever she goes, and treats her true friends quite well.
Her pearlescent skin is strangely oily, and her hair is a dark, blueish black. She spends little time worrying about her appearance, but still possesses a natural beauty and grace. Sephne wears her hair long, often tangled with kelp, flowers, and other plant life. She prefers simple travelers clothes made from waxed fabrics or leathers that shed water, and are usually cut to avoid restricting her limbs while swimming. Sephne stands around 5’5”, and weighs 145 lbs.
