Nelrem prefers to solve all his decisions in life by coin flip. He always has his lucky coin in his hand flipping it constantly. A nervous habit at times, or a decision maker when needed.
His actions can seem callous, or evil, to some, but this is not how he sees the world. He sees it as an animal would, the strong survive, there are no wrong choices, there are no emotions, and sometimes you need to burn it all down and start over again.
Nelrem has a talent for magic, and the profession of a Summoner came natural to him. He was able to make mystical contact with a being of pure energy and bargained with it to bring it into this world as his Eidolon, all of Nelrem's violence is now handled through his creation, something he is rather fond of.
Nelrem's major goal is to attain more power, so that he can create a better, and stronger Eidolon. He has no qualms about working with others to do so, a wolf pack is stronger for every wolf. He just want's to either be the alpha, if given the chance.
Nelrem absolutely abhors violence, unless performed by Eidolon proxy, and will not wield a weapon of any kind. he makes concessions for spellcasting, but prefers to augment or pamper his Eidolon with spells to assist it in doing it's job.
Nelrem would be visiting Sandpoint for the glassworks, he respects works of art and wishes to inspect the factory further. He has a keen eye for architecture, and is a bit star struck by the thought of seeing the process of turning sand to colored glass.
Norn rushes forward to distract the thugs who assaulted Mel. Her strikes, however, fail to connect.
The woman Vengence attacked draws her own sword and strikes back. The rapier strikes home, leaving a shallow cut across V's skin. After armor, V takes 1 point of damage.
Nelrem, do you take any actions this turn, or do you just continue to concentrate?
After Nelrem, V is up again.
Unless it wears off, I will not be taking offensive actions due to being blind, I don't want to hurt anyone. So I will continue to concentrate in the hopes of getting lucky.
I hope you are not suggesting that those of us still making our own rolls are anything less than honest. I suggest you leave it and move on since Mel has already rectified the situation to what is apparently everyones satisfaction.
I said nothing of the sort. I was trying not to alienate her/him.
Ross please make all rolls for this character in future as it appears that my integrity is being questioned.
Don't feel slighted Mel, It'll build character to know I'll never question your rolls again now that you opted the DM to roll for you.
Would you like it if I make the same proclamation? (if Ross doesn't mind that is.) We'll be like the honest twins or something :) my paladin leading by example. /puff chest.
Though I take it you have no real explanation as to why you rolled a 5 then posted the follow up 18 instead and didn't correct the mistake?
Crackling my knuckles as I stand to my full height, I try my best to get a bearing on where the person who blinded me came from, or where I last saw one of the "bad guys."
I use Detect Evil to try and narrow that down as well, this round I need to focus on that power, next round I should get a better bearing on where they are if evil is in fact detected from anyof them.
Common: "I spent the better part of the last century in darkness, who would dare to remind me of such pain? Shall I begin to teach you all the meaning?"
Nelrem ponies up 3 gold for chips, and makes his first bet at 5 silver.
Bluff(+3) = 4I am truly psychic, and saw this coming.
"Well, good to get the bad luck out of the way, now let's play." Nelrem seems to be laughing at himself. "She said that would happen, I should of listened to her."
"I hope no one at this table is named 'X' as the succubus scrawled that down for me as I entered." Nelrem Chuckles. "It was cute, She was cute, at least so much as a girl pretending to be a demon could be I reckon."
"So whats the game ladies and gentlemen?"
Nelrem has a moment of pause.
"Oh, I'm sorry the name is Nelrem. Nelrem Ojen. I haven't been in a position to be introduced to new people the last few years, so I'm a tad rusty with the whole introductions protocol."
He then puts up a few gold for chips, and waits for the start of his inevitable losing streak to kick in.
As I am not a gambler by profession, do I use raw Chr and bluff? How many rolls per game? Etc.
If possible, having already payed the entrance fee, I'm more interested in finding work than gambling. So if i can save money but not playing thats a solid plan for me. Though I am definitely detecting evil on Saul, the Imp, and the Succubi on the stage to determine how much of this is real.
Nobody can force you to gamble, so you're free to simply wander the crowd, but it might be advisable to go ahead and purchase some chips to avoid being given the Devil's Mark and thrown out for losing your stake (since no chips = no stake, regardless of if you bought in or not.)
You detect only one evil aura: A moderate aura emanating from the caged imp.
I do remind you though, that under the Beta, ordinary creatures under 5 HD simply will not appear on Detect Alignment spells.
I wasn't aware of the beta change thanks Ross.
I will buy chips then, and first though you meant the snack kind, how I just failed my gambling rolls without touching the "roll" button or dice already *sigh*

If required to gamble I'm using Bluff untrained so raw CHR(+3) rolls (DM can roll for me.)
I think the Forum ate my last post. If a dupe comes out blame the boards. Here it is again.
Nelrem scans the room 'detecting evil' specifically on the woman dressed as as succubus with the contracts.
If neither are evil then he tries to gain entry paying the fee without actually signing, and tries to convince them he's not here for games but work and wouldn't have to sign in that event. He 'accidentally' overpays the entry fee if needed to get his point across.
Shifting Social gears Nelrem puts on some charm. Diplomacy Roll: 1d20 +7 [19,7] = (26)
That should be plenty to move her to 'friendly' from either 'indifferent' or 'unfriendly'. Maybe she can give me some insight into the contract being a fake, or worse case real. If she is evil though that would change things and Nelrem would instead weigh the situation much more carefully.
Nelrem: "Forgive me mylday, it was a knee jerk reaction. I understand your doing your job, and I'm sorry if I put you in a position to drop character. Let me make it up to you. Here is the entrance fee, plus a little something to make up for my transgression."
Sliding her an extra gold piece.
"Why don't you write down any name you want on that piece of paper for me, if needed, and maybe later when your off work you can show me around?"
I saw the blurb in the guide book "One of your Traits must be a Campaign trait chosen from the list starting on page 14 — this trait ties your character into the Second Darkness storyline and gives you a built-in reason to begin the first adventure, 'Shadow in the Sky.'" and thought different. I can see me grabbing the feat to get 2 more traits at level three though, some are kinda neat.
My background had me in prison the last few years, Giving me a few days at best to meet the other PCs, unless they (for some reason) know my sister, a cleric of Sarenrae, who eventually got visiting rights.
I could be 'known' however as that guy that decided to stay in prison for his full sentence and not leave early.
I liked the Traits: Dangerously Curious (Magical) and Killer (Combat). I didn't pick a campaign trait however, and I have no problem with starting solo or knowing one of the other PCs.
Having a Curved Blade may have drawn Vengence's eye at some point as it lists them as rare, and I would assume typically Elven weapons not humans.
Sword and Fist, but I assumed as it was part of the variant for weapon profs that it would be OK, glad I asked about it. I may have to rethink weapon prof choices but that wont take long.
edit: though the Elven Curved Blade may be the winner, it's the same concept I wanted with the Mercurial. Just a big exotic 2hander that not many know how to use.
Hey Melissa, I just also noticed we both had backgrounds with Sarenrae. How interesting ;) that makes me pretty much start with 3 strikes against your background already. (Man, Law Figure, and a Paladin of Sarenrae.)
Just think of all the upcoming drama we'll have. It will actually be kinda fun I bet. Perhaps I could make you hate me so much it turns 180 degrees. I'll have to make that my personal challenge to try, along side taming an entire city teemed with corruption.
