opposed attack rolls to disarm an opponent
(including the roll to avoid being disarmed

It is an exotic heavy blade but a martial weapon if you are an elf.

Aura of Good (Ex): The power of a paladin’s aura of good
(see the detect good spell) is equal to her paladin level.
Detect Evil (Sp): At will, a paladin can use detect evil, as
the spell.
Smite Evil (Su): Once per day, a paladin may attempt
to smite evil with one normal melee attack. She adds
her Charisma bonus (if any) to her attack roll and deals
extra point of damage per paladin level. If the paladin
accidentally smites a creature that is not evil, the smite has
to effect, but the ability is still used up for that day.
At 4th level, and at every three levels thereafter, the
Paladin may smite evil one additional time per day, as
indicated on Table 4–9, to a maximum of seven times per
day at 19th level.
Appearance:
Nelrem is a large man, standing at 6' 2" he is hard to miss. Not only is he large in size, but he has the build of a weightlifter due to spending the last 10 years in prison doing heavy labor.
Nelrem's hair and complexion is honey colored from long exposure to the sun on a daily basis. Though the tan will probably fade in time, his long golden hair isn't going anywhere. He wears it in a knotted braid that trails down just past his waist.
Nelrem can bee seen sporting a Suit of Chain mail and holstering a massive sword on his back. He wears no overt symbols of the faith on his person, choosing to avoid trouble in Riddleport now that he has returned. Though he contemplates tracking down some corrupt lawyers that were at his own trial providing false evidence and testimony.
Background:
Nelrem has been recently released from prison after serving his ten year sentence for murder. The only words he spoke at his own trial were those that indicated he did indeed kill his own father and nothing more.
What he hides away was that his father was a crazy old wizard that had long been on a road to self destruction. Performing experiment after experiment to try and perfect his arts of alchemy and wizardry. One night he heard strange noises coming from his sisters room, he found his father leering over his sister with a maniacal look to his eyes, unbuckling his belt to his trousers. Nelrem only remembers defending her from the husk that was once his father.
His sister visited him occasionally in prison when she had opportunity to bribe a guard to let her in to see Nelrem in secret. She thanked him many times and begged him to tell someone what was really happening, and Nelrem always said the same thing to her, that it didn't matter, he was guilty and did murder him, and he should be right where he was.
In his years incarcerated Nelrem came to peace with his actions, though he felt he did the right thing, he also felt it was right that he serve his full sentence, and denied his own parole asking to serve the rest of his three years. It was during those years he found Sarenrae.
As fate would have it, it was Nelrems example that brought faith to his sisters heart and she became a Cleric of Sarenrae and then her stories, her compassion lit a fire in his heart for the goddess. He followed in her footsteps when he was released and became a paladin.
Trying to put his past behind him Nelrem tries to find the good left in his own heart, and to bring the good out of others when possible. His sister met him on the day he was released and noticed the change in him immediately, a great burden had been lifted. She had saved up enough money to get him a decent haircut and shave, and had enough pull with the church to provide him with his current gear. [he took the shave, but kept the hair long.]
