Hello all. I know there has been a lot of talk and debate about playing up and/or down and the wealth by level curve.

One thing that I think bears repeating for all the new people is when exactly does a table have the choice to play up or down.

I think there are some out there that don't realize that a table does not have this choice whenever they sit down.

The current Guide To Pathfinder Society Organized Play (version 4.3, p33) explains when this can occur:

"In order to determine which subtier a mixed-level group
of PCs should play in, you must determine the group’s
average party level (APL). Divide the total number of
character levels by the number of characters in the party.
You should always round to the nearest whole number."

"If the APL of a table is between two subtiers (like APL
3rd for a Tier 1–5 scenario), the players may choose to play
up to Subtier 4–5 or down to Subtier 1–2. If, however, the
APL was calculated for six players (and thus bumped up
by +1) and this pushes a low-level table out of their subtier
and into the level between two subtiers, the players
should be strongly cautioned about playing up, as even a
party of six players may not be able to handle situations
and challenges that the higher subtier will present."

This is the only time a table can choose to play up or down.

I have just heard too many stories lateley of people and or GMs not realizing what the current rule is.

Thanks.

Hello all,

With the great influx of new players to Pathfinder Society we have seen in the past year or so, I was wondering if we might want to start a new section on the Pathfinder Society boards just for new player questions?

Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks.

Hello all,

I got contacted by a new player who left me a voice-mail. Unfortunately, the messages was garbaled especially the part about the person's number.

So I am trying to get a hold of Aaron who called me today around 1 p.m.

Aaron-

I do have room in my game tonight, if you want to come by we will most likely be playing tier 1-2 or 3-4 and I will bring pregens in case you don't have a character. You can also try calling me at the number you did before and leave a message with your number (give your telephone number twice this time please). Or you can contact me at Natertot@aol.com

Thanks

Hello I just wanted to know if we could get some official clarification on whether or not if your character is on slow advancement if they get full gold for their Day Job roll or half. Thanks.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I have now seen three ways for a Half-Orc character to acquire a Bite Attack.

1) Toothy Alternate Racial Ability Trait from APG. Primary natural attack that deals 1d4 piercing.

2) Razortusk Feat from APG.

3) Tusked Trait from Orcs of Golarion.

Don't all these pretty much give you the same thing? A 1d4 bite attack?

So if that is the case why would you choose the Feat over the Trait or Racial Ability Trait?

Thoughts?

We all know the basics of chaneling positive and negative energy given on page 40 of the PS Core Rulebook.

What I would like to clarify is if basic chaneling does or does not heal or harm outsiders/elementals. I assume it does neither.

If it does heal or harm then why have the elemental and alignment chanel feats?

Thanks.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I tried to use the search function but could not find this specific question.

The Stone Oracle gets Wall of Stone as a Bonus Mystery Spell at 8th level. Is Wall of Stone considered a 4th level spell for Oracle of Stone? For everyone else it is at least a 5th level spell.

Was this a mistake? Should there be a differenet Bonus Mystery Spell for Stone Oracles at 8th Level?

Please clarify.

Thanks!

Hello all,

Just came back from GenCon and had a Great time playing the Pathfinder Society Mods. The only problem is I had put the wrong number down for my society character number. Who should I talk to to get this fixed? basically I transposed a couple of the numbers. Thanks.
