EP Healy, are you in the Green Zone? We have a decent, if not large, group over there. We play when our DM is off.

I'm going to go ahead and add my thanks as well. I have yet to take the time to thank you all for the Christmas Card you sent me. When you are deployed all positive letters you receive are greatly appreciated.

Keep up the great work. I'll be a fan of Paizo forever.

Make that soon like NOW!

Nice work guys!

Baba Yaga? Bletz!

When can we expect our first introduction to this new world Pathfinder will be taking place in?

I'm very excited about the prospect, and I think you guys might be needing more than monsters to flesh this world out. But that will probably have to wait for now.

I'm in Mosul right now. I thought I might be able to get online here, and maybe there is, but I will be out of the loop for two weeks.

Also, I have an 8 hour time difference. Prolly not going to be able to do much while I'm here. Good news is that my end-game guild all but switched over to Middle Earth online, so I'll be looking for a new WoW game when I get back.

After 4th lvl I started getting quests as normal. I got Arcane Silver, which starts a quest. It flat out told me I was the wrong race to do the quest.

But now I seem to be doing OK. I'm building SMC rep pretty quickly. I do need to go to the UC for class training sometime tho.

Ungathwa the Troll Warrior is at the Blood Elf starting area now. Those racists Belfs won't let me do any of the starting quests. Whats up with that?

Yeah, it turns out I'm a little short on the video card. I'll play whenever I can. But as soon as I BSOD, I'm done for the day.

I'm fine with Horde, I'll prolly play a Troll Warrior. I've been wanting to try one. Where is everyone going to be? I've only done one Forsaken character, and only played him to 10th lvl.

At least with Horde we can get everyone together pretty easily.

Weird, the first post doesn't match the preview text...

I fly a lot in the Army. Long, international flights too. Two years ago I finally came back to the States after being in Korea for a year and a half. My carry on was a bit too big for the flight, so I had to buy a box and pay to have it shipped with me to America. Not easy to do, since the Koreans, while helpful, didn't speak much English. They did a great job boxing it up and they labeled it in Hangul and let me label it in English.

It was raining when I arrived 13 hours later in Dulles. I looked everywhere for the box, but I couldn't find it. I found my other luggage. Then 20 minutes later, a soggy cardboard box that had been torn in half showed up on the conveyor belt, covered in "Dept. of Homeland Security" tape. Apparantly they searched it outside. Luckily the electronics inside still worked.

I thought it was a thoughtful homecoming.

I can kinda play sometimes over here. I have to stay away from PVP realms, alas my lvl 60 Dwarf Pally languishes in Lighteninghoof largely unused.

Altho between lag and my laptop being over a year old, I blue screen quite a bit when I do play. Because of that, I rarely play anymore, since I don't want to kill my computer. It is the center of my universe when I am off duty.

We were looking for Mini's, and I decided to check this site out. It turned out it isn't blocked by my work servers.

Now, wheres the sex?

Iraq, west of Baghdad, suffering from D&D withdrawal.

I haven't rolled a single d20 in over six months! I've been buying Dragon and Dungeon off the shelves here (which fly off the shelves, by the way) because I forgot to change my shipping address for my subscriptions. So at least I've been keeping up with some of the game. And I occasionally get time to jump on the boards here, which is a welcome retreat.

We have a pretty big group here in the Green Zone. They sell books there? We don't have that.

In case anybody was wondering it isn't snowing in Baghdad.

I always thought that was a sports joke. Y'know - "Jesus saves... but Messier scores on the putback".

There are plenty of variations. There is also "Jesus saves...and does not lose the document when Windows crashes".

My favorite is "Jesus saves, but Gretzsky steals. HE SCORES!"

Just had to resurrect that tangent.

They'll look for the rest of the day. Sure they'll cry when they realize that the egg's not really out there, but deep down, you know they get the joke...

That made me laugh, thanks.

I always thought Halloween, and Ground Hogs Day, fell on what is called a cross-quarter day. Which is the day that falls exactly between an Equinox and a Solstice. I can't remember what they all are, and the 'net here in Baghdad is wonky tonight and I don't feel like looking that up to confirm it.

I'm deployed too, and I know what a pain in the ass it can be to deal with things back in the states. But this is something else entirely.

Have you thought about going to JAG for this?

Cancer, Rabbit, and Woodpecker. Got that emotional, nuturing care-giver role down I tell ya!

I've worked in the ER here in Baghdad for a few months, and have seen that type of wound before. Your brother lasted a long time, for what it's worth. He was a fighter.

I'm not too happy with my brother right now. But I think I'll call him and tell him I love him tonight. It's been too long since I've done so.

I'll pray for you and your family at church tomorrow.

I once was in a GURPS: Supers game that had a Cthulu-esque type adventure. It was in the adventure supplement GURPS made for Supers. That was fun. And most of the the group survived.

A few years ago I toyed with the idea of mixing Mage: The Ascension (2E) with CoC. Never got around to actually doing it tho. Over than those two scenarios I have no idea how to give a CoC game any type of longevity.

It was pretty ironic when they made D20 Cthulu. Wasn't one of the reasons TSR changed the original Dieties and Demigods because Chaosism (or whoever owned the liscense back then)threatened to sue over copyright infringment?

Simply answer to that one: no.

Your armour's Max Dex bonus is just that - a limit to the AC bonus for a high Dex that you can use while wearing the armour.

Sweet! Thanks man.

Thanks for the responses. I knew I'd seen the damage from a shield somewhere, and with the description of the tower shield, I figured it couldn't be used in that way anyway.

I have a pretty decent Dex, but I am trying to get feats for Dwarven Defender. Which leads me to another question thats been bothering me. Does the limit of a Dex bonus also limit any Dodge bonus the character may have? My dwarf has a Dex of 15 (+2) with his Chainmail and Towershield, he still keeps this bonus to his AC. When he's fighting a giant and gets the +4 Dodge bonus, is it negated by the armor/shield he is carrying?

I was trying to pick out a new feat from my now 4th lvl Dwarven Fighter when I noticed Improved Shield Bash. I understand what the feat does, but I can't find what good bashing someone with your shield is. I suppose it could be used as a blunt weapon against skeletons. But other than that, I can't see the purpose. Also, how much damage does it do? And can it be done with a Tower Shield?

Thanks for any and all help.

Why did I sit here and read all this smurf?

I've run a few Ascension games in the past, mainly 2E. I could usually work with the player and figure out what they wanted to do in a timely manner. If I had my books here with me I could come up with an answer about the Homunculus, and even the Entropy effect. One thing I learned was that you couldn't get too hung up on the details, you just had to go with it. I suppose it was kinda like playing jazz in that respect.

Really, the game did change how I felt about a magic in other games. Spell lists seem kinda tame now. And I'm usually stuck playing the wizard, which I don't always mind.

The new edition just seems like WW reinventing the wheel. I guess they are free to do so, but I'm not coming along for the ride this time. I did purchase the newest ed. of Mage at Gen Con '05 and had it autographed too.

Make that weeks, and you'd be just about right...

Well... #351 shipped to you on 11/28 so it should probably have arrived by now. I'll get a replacement sent out, though it may very well still arrive.

For your Dungeon subscription, however, the issue that has yet to arrive was shipped to you two weeks ago today and with the holidays, I'm giving addresses in the US an extra week. As for an APO address (to Baghdad, no less), I would actually give your issue a couple of more weeks to reach you.

Of course, if you haven't seen it by January 12th let me know and we will certainly get a replacement sent out.

Cos

Thank you very much sir!

I had no idea it posted when the issue was shipped, so I'll be sure to keep better track of that in the future.

Hi,

I'm currently stationed in Baghdad, which means extra delay for mail. But neither me nor my friend have gotten ours yet either. I'll give it another couple of days just to be sure.

I got my last issue of Dungeon sometime at the end of November. And it usually takes 10-14 days for something to normally arrive. I guess the holidays could add another 3 or so.

I'll let you know by the end of the week.

It sure is. Thanks.

Was there supposed to be a strip in the newest edition of Dragon? DId I miss it somewhere?
