Nothing here in Germany yet either unfortunately. Must have lucked out when it came to fulfilment.

A quick update to the website yesterday, which fixes the Launch App button not working on Android. A plugin used on the page was causing the issue, and I've killed said plugin.

Upcoming changes in the near future include an armor check penalty column in the skills.

Hi Jon,

Thanks, glad you like it!

Both of those points are in fact on my to-do list. I plan on turning the 'equal' sign into a button that will on tap calculate a given row. That way you still have the option to manually override, in case of house-rules or other subtleties.

That's correct, the spell description field is read-only, and grabs its data from an export from the spells database graciously maintained by d20pfsrd. If/when the Deep Magic spells make it into that, I'll update on my end. In the meantime, putting them into Notes works, and is what I do with custom spells, but I agree it's not as nice. It's on my list of nice-to-have upgrades, but a little behind some more pressing ones at the moment. :)

Regarding the sort on the statblock spell listing, that is an oversight. I'll endeavour to fix soon.

Here are also a couple of things that aren't immediately obvious perhaps:

- The "Mark" button in the spell dialog adds a slight extra border to the spell "pill" to differentiate it from the others. I use it to mark domain spells, for example.

- You can remove melee and ranged attacks, and armour items by hovering over the black label to the left of them and clicking the "X" that appears.

I am not familiar with the Next browser. :( The button is really just a link to http://charactersheet.co.uk/pathfinder, so it's weird that that wouldn't work.

Thanks Xris,

On the statblock version, it pulls Perception from the skills listing, and from the Special Abilities it grabs things like Darkvision and Low-Light Vision. There isn't a single dedicated point on the regular sheet, but the Special Abilities section is meant to include any vision based abilities.

I'm open to all feedback though, and may change things around a bit on future versions, but I'm trying initially to stay fairly close to the standard paper sheet.

The open beta is now live! See this thread, or go directly to the app.

Hi everyone,

I've been tinkering away at a pretty, cloud-based character sheet for some time, and I think it's ready to be put through its paces:

http://charactersheet.co.uk

It's in open beta, so you might come across a bug or two, and it's only been properly tested on Chrome and Safari at the moment.

It's targeted mainly at tablets at the gaming table, and people from my group have in fact been using it on iPad and Android for about 6 months. It requires a modern browser, and either a Google or GitHub account (more login options to follow as desired), and is free to use.

Here are some of the features:

  • Digital, enhanced version of the regular paper character sheet
  • Cloud-based storage, access from any device
  • Complete with all OGL spell descriptions right at your fingertips
  • No assumptions; house-rules friendly
  • Track prepared and cast spells and spell-likes
  • Share a read-only statblock view with your GM or players
  • Comment on the statblock
  • Annotate feats, gear, and more

There's a GitHub page to track issues.

Let me know what you think!

I know this is way late to answer this, but I just came across this thread while searching for my own. :)

I'm currently beta testing my own online character sheet app, which comes with a statblock format.

See my thread for details and if you'd like to sign up as a beta tester.

New version released today. Includes support for archiving (and restoring), and deleting characters (finally)!

It should work with any modern browser, though it hasn't been extensively tested yet.

Thanks for those who've signed up already and send in great feedback. Got space for couple more testers, if anyone's interested.

Thanks, I'm trying to make it pretty as well as useful. Makes it more fun to use. :)

Hi everyone,

For a few months now I've been working on an online character sheet app for the Pathfinder RPG. It's a rewrite of an earlier version I did a couple of years back and used at my own gaming table. This new version is made with modern front-end technologies, and should be scalable and fun.

Here are some of its features:

  • Digital, enhanced version of the regular paper character sheet
  • Cloud-based storage, access from any device
  • Complete with all OGL spell descriptions right at your fingertips
  • No assumptions; house-rules friendly
  • Track prepared and cast spells and spell-likes
  • Share a read-only statblock view with your GM or players
  • Comment on the statblock
  • Annotate feats, gear, and more

The app is aimed mainly at tablets at the gaming table, but works equally well on laptops, and, with a bit of squinting, smartphones.

I'm looking for a few beta testers, ideally with a little bit of technical knowledge. You'll need a GitHub account so that I can give you access to my issues tracker, and to use the app itself, you'll want either a GitHub or a Google account (Facebook, Twitter, and others to be added.)

So if you're interested, please send me an email at frank.reding+meocs@gmail.com with your GitHub username and email, and I'll add you as soon as I can (I'm UK based, so bear that in mind in my response times :).

See the app homepage for some screenshots.

I also want to echo the comments that the new PRD is very slick, purdy, and the indexes very handy.

Might I add an additional request? Being able to filter the magic items by slot, price, and even CL, would be exceedingly useful.

Breath of the Hoarskin Hag

*...I'm not sure why this item is tied to a hag. And normally, I'd think of hags as witches...which means spells like blade barrier or wall of fire wouldn't normally be on their spell list.

*...setting that aside, I've always wondered why no one could ever invent a higher version of the wall spells that you could manipulate and move round by round to force people into them...or, rather, move the barrier against them. I kind of like that there's an item that could allow for that. But how do you price it? It can't just be based on animate objects and gust of wind. Also, I'm not sure that I like this type of item nearly as much in the shape of a hag's skull.

*...I really hate the joke built into the lead-off sentence of the item's description. It doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the designer's future writing ability.

*...Add all these things together, and...I have to vote Reject.

*...Agreed. Reject.

Thank you very much for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated, and together with all the feedback provided on this thread extremely useful.

I themed the item around green hags because they are reputed to be the most hideous of all hags; hence spells fleeing from an item made out of a green hag's head. I realise now that the theme was a miss, leaning, as it did, too far on the jokey side.

Pricing was quite a tall order for this item, as you said, calculating it based on animate objects and gust of wind did not work. Comparing it to similar items did not get me anywhere either, as it introduces an effect not really seen elsewhere.

I ended up ballparking it by looking at the most common minimum spell level it would become useful at, and for the wall spells that was level 4. That would put a caster at 7th level, so I priced the item according to the expected level of wealth for a level 7 character.

Breath of the Hoarskin Hag

Aura moderate evocation and transmutation; CL 11th
Slot —; Price 23,500 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Description

This grisly, shrunken head is said to be made from a hag so hideous that even spells ran away from her. When activating the item by pulling taut its leathery skin, a faint but foul-smelling breath escapes the head's mouth.

A spellcaster who wields this head can inject motion into a spell he has previously cast that is still active. The spell must be one that creates a passable, non-solid wall, whether straight or ringed, such as, for example, wall of fire or blade barrier, but not wall of stone. As a standard action, the wielder can cause the wall to move 5 feet away from him in a direct line, or, in the case of a ringed wall, to expand by 5 feet. Alternatively, by using a full round action, he can increase this movement to 10 feet.

If this puts the spell into an occupied square, the creature immediately receives a new saving throw as if it had walked through the wall, provided that there is a space within 5 feet where the creature can escape to. If it fails this saving throw, or if there is no free adjacent square, it is subjected to the effects of the spell, else it is moved to an adjacent square.

The skull can be used for up to 11 rounds a day. These do not have to be consecutive.

Construction

Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, head of a green hag, animate object, gust of wind; Cost 11,750 gp

I'm also on the problem side.

Moreover, pulling out any odd spell out of thin air - previously encountered or not - rubs me the wrong way too, as another poster already pointed out. I find the problem conceptual, and the endless spells known loophole confounds it.

As has already been suggested, the ability should require some previous or current exposure to the spell in question. Perhaps having identified it via Spellcraft while someone else cast it, or having a copy or item holding it. Both of these options have been pointed out. I'm not sure how that would be worded in a succinct yet exhaustive way though.

The other option could be to look at it from a "words of power" point of view. Although I'm not a fan of that system as it currently stands, giving the magus limited access to the building blocks of spells, to allow him to craft (in the spell sense) something unique and spontaneous, would be cool, and also in the spirit of the ability I believe.

I have to agree with Wolfgang's assessment. I haven't finished the book yet, but I'm already brimming with ideas for my next campaign after reading the forest gazetteer. One thing that's great for example, is that each entry in the gazetteer has an adventure hook attached to it. As if the adventures themselves weren't enough already!

Now to find a suitable place for the Margreve in Golarion. Oleg's Trading Post you say? I haven't read Kingmaker (since I'm hoping a friend of mine will run that once we finish Council of Thieves!) so I don't know anything about that place. I'll have a look through my copy of the River Kingdoms though.

Hello, Frank from Norwich here. Gaming for twenty years, mostly D&D, but also World of Darkness back in the day, and a smattering of others; now exclusively Pathfinder.

I'm running a weekly Council of Thieves game on Mondays, and a weekly Legacy of Fire campaign on Thursdays. Just started Mother of Flies in the former, and cruising through book 5 in the latter. We have space in the Thursday game for one extra person.

A lot of great costumes here, but my vote goes to Lora as Feiya, for all the detail on that outfit, and the great matching hair.

They've also done a short video specifically about Pathfinder

Thanks for the link, I had somehow missed that episode. :)

Hey guys,

Thought you might interested to hear that Pathfinder featured heavily in the background of today's Loading, Ready, Run episode over at the Escapist. Looks like 3.5 has been well and truly dethroned as the game of choice for geek filmmakers. :)

An hour inbetween saves? You're a brave man!

Yay, more Jared Blando!

The cartographer, Jared Blando, has posted a low-res version of the Westcrown map at his website. His work is truly awesome to behold - go, look!

Indeed, his work is fantastic. I love all of his maps in the current adventure path.

The world map entitled "The East" on his site is amazing.

Thanks Vic, I thought that might be the case. It's a shame though, as we all love Golarion and have no desire to craft a new world, but of course we fully respect the need for you to protect your IP.

We'll make the adventures setting neutral instead.

Hi there,

Along with a few colleagues, we are planning on selling Pathfinder compatible adventures in the not too distant future. Now, our personal setting of choice is Golarion, which we can't refer to expressively in the products of course, according to the Pathfinder compatibility license.

My question is this: Let's say our adventure PDF is squeaky clean and makes no mention of Paizo IP, could we post an article for free on our website that explains how to integrate the adventure into Golarion?

Awesome stuff. Patronage purchased!

You've got your copy of the book already!? Jealous!

I got it literally minutes after my FLGS got its delivery. Quite lucky too - the whole shop only got 3 copies since Esdevium only ordered a small amount of books. And now they can't any more since the first run is sold out.

But yeah, I'll get acquainted with the rules, join the PF society, and also head to GameCon in Manchester if I can. Anyone know what that's like?

I missed it this year, but I'm very interested in attending the next one. Got my copy of the book yesterday, and we're converting our 4E game (which I'm DMing) to PF, and soon our other weekly game too, so I may well be up for doing some DMing, but I'll have to let you know a little closer to the time (those pesky family commitments can get in the way sometimes :).

I just wanted to add another vote to the combined travel table, especially including more esoteric means of travel as well as mundane ones like wind walk. :)

I'm in the UK too, and I asked my FLGS last week to put one aside for me, and to make sure to tell their distributor to order enough copies! :) No news on exact date yet, but I'll be lapping up the PDF on the 13th at any rate.

We'll be starting a new campaign using PFRPG around that time, and the players are keen to get their hands on a PDF each for that price. I wouldn't be surprised if some shell out for the hardcover too, once the campaign gets going.

I thought I'd throw this out here...

I'm buying Pathfinder from my local gaming shop, which needs all the support it can get. Annoyingly, that means I get my copies later than online subscribers, but much worse, I don't get a PDF of it.

The PDF is extremely useful, especially for printing off player handouts and maps.

Now, I understand that having people subscribe directly from Paizo gives them a much better idea of popularity, and gives them a bigger share of the profit, and I'm all for that.

But I wish there were a way for people like me, who keep their local gaming store alive, to get a PDF version of Pathfinder too, without having to shell out twice, or least without having to shell out quite so much. I simply can't afford to buy the book locally, and then pay another $13.99 for the PDF.

Perhaps a unique code in the book could entitle one to the PDF, or a PDF for less?

There's not much in it for Paizo, other than a warm, fuzzy feeling on the inside, but you can't put a price on that! :)

Yes.
