Moto Aki (male Human Moto Bushi 1 -. Insight XYZ)

Aki looked at the man dispassionately, as he squirmed and turned. He was disgusted, but something held him back. "So, if it was one of these... Gul, have you or anyone here seen it?"

He wasn't really that much of an investigator, but the story sounded a tad unlikely to him

Aki did not believe a word the man said, but with no witness to testify against him, what could he do? He was suspicious, but suspicion alone didn't quite make him guilty. "Has anybody been with you either before or during the fire?"

Aki joined Layali, and like her, took a good long appraising look at the man. He disliked him from the onset. Something about him put all the hairs on edge that were still Rokugani.

"If the fire interested you so much, you might wish to tell us more about it? For example, how it got started?"

Aki bowed at the old healer as was customary in his homeland, and smiled despite it. He felt a bit foolish, acting all like the proper Samurai, even when he had so obviously walked into the opposite direction.

"If you have the time, might we ask you a few questions?"

Perception / Hunting 5k3 - 7, 5, 4, 4, 2 - 16

Aki trudged back towards the main body of the caravan, surveying the damage wrought, and pursed his lips "Feuds can go back long ways, and sometimes are avenged at the strangest times" he mumbled, in his strange pitch and accent.

For the moment, he was not going to humiliate himself further, though - so he refrained from further comments out of line.

After his short, very unsuccessful and deeply dissatisfying stint as a goat herder, Aki tried hard not to feel deeply disappointed by himself. Sure, given the situation, it might have been the best use of his skills - but they were just not up to the task. No matter how much he tried not to think about it, he was pretty sure it had been beneath his station, too.

Aki cursed under his breath as the smaller animals were getting away. But he tried to round them up as he had seen in some instances. He had not expected to use that observation.

2d10 -> 10, 7 - 17
2d10 -> 3, 1 - 4
2d10 -> 6, 4 - 10
2d10 + 5 -> 9, 7 - 21
2d10 -> 8, 3 - 11

Aki approached the beasts, and tried to calm them down. It wasn't going as well as he'd have hoped, but no other options had presented themselves easily.

2d10: 8, 7 -> 15. Well, at least it's a good roll. I had hoped my horsemanship might be an asset here.

Aki knew little about healing. Just enough to know he would likely hurt more than help. He wasn't quite humble enough to consider the bucket chain a proper use of himself. The panicking animals, however... while not glorious, that was a chance to do some good in this situation.

He set out quickly, to reach them before they had worked themselves into a total frenzy. With a bit of luck, he could calm them down enough they did not harm themselves.

GM

Spoiler:
Works fine with me, and the Scimitar is indeed my item of choice

Aki travelled with the caravan, both relishing the company, yet remaining curiously guarded and somewhat apart by the strange accents his voice put on words, his peculiar way of speaking, and boundless curiousity on the other hand.

He knew how to care for his horse and himself, though, keeping his appearance well-kept even on the road. After all - a lady might just take notice.

Put up some more bits of backstory. It's not much, it's not epic - but it might give you all some idea who this Moto Aki is.

Comments welcome, and I'm quite ready to adjust things as required by the campaign

I've got the numbers aligned - I think. Need some feedback on the Lucky advantage and what Languages are needed. :)

Background coming as soon as it's done

Ok, Profile is up. I'll fill it with some content after my PbP update round
