Taliesin Hoyle wrote: ...or do something original. [John Cleese voice] Knock, knock. Excuse me in there. I do believe we have a fight scheduled. Do you think we could get it underway?[/John Cleese voice]
Modius bursts in and seeing Paper explains too quickly to understand. He slows himself and simplifies: "killers outside, very dangerous men."
He sees Paper motioning silence, and something in Papers eyes, him drawing his weapon: Modius knows there will be a fight.
He will back up Paper and try to flank anyone Paper engages. He draws his weapon.
"Relax, brother. You would be a dead man had the Lord not brought us to you."

Hrothgar the Red wrote: "Modius, how much do you think we'd get for this hashish?" "This is too much for one man. It couldn't all be his. It even too much for you Hrothgar. Smells good too."
When he gets a chance to speak to Paper surreptitiously he will comment on the quantity and quality of hashish. Is there a hookah or pipe about? Or if he can find a red hot poker in the fire he'll break off a little piece and try it out. He'll even reimburse the slave if this turns out to be an honest patime.
Great, my character is getting stoned.
"Hey Paper, it smells nice in here, would you be hiding some hashish by any chance?"
"Nice place, Paper. When did you last see your family?"
Modius ambles up when they arrive at their destination.
"Hello gentleman. Nothing suspicious. Except me of course.... Nice place, Paper."
Modius lurks through the shadows just out of sight, tailing his friends and looking for others who might have decided to follow.
Rufinus Galsius. wrote: "could you follow after us and see if we are followed?" "We are larger and more conspicuous than you." Modius looks at Rufinus with a little bit of shock in his eyes. He smiles and walks away. A minute later, so as to not let Hrothgar think Rufinus is giving orders, he mentions to his friends that he will sneak behind.

Rufinus Galsius. wrote: Food for muscle? Coins for my skills? What say you friend? You and your companions reek of opportunity." "You are a decent man in a world with few: I call you friend. And if I might say so, we just plain reek. I could use a bath."
That didn't make sense. lol. It was supposed to say 'emptied'.
"Off we go, good sir."
Aside, to Rufinus: "So what do you think, a man carries nothing in his pockets and gets stabbed, or a man is robbed and his pockets are empty."
Modius steps back (with whatever he found during the search if anything).
"Let's go then, shall we gentleman?"
"Once I've checked his pockets, big brother."

"Might be something dangerous in here."
<Modius looks around at the cart driver, Gnaeus, Rufinius, and Isat.>
"Hrothgar and I are currently between residences, has anyone a safe place to look after this chap?"
"We don't even know his name. We are just passing Samaritans...
<He looks around at the others.>
... figuratively speaking. He appears to have fallen on a dagger in a dark alley."
Gnaeus Cornelius Papyrus wrote: Does anyone have lodging nearby?
Do I?
Modius is homeless
Agreed.
That should be 14. I'm helping.
EDIT:
>>>>AID ANOTHER LINK<<<<
It is not clear to me how many may AID so I always rule depending on the situation. It's up to Herald.
Heal roll to stop bleeding?
Modius will provide AID ANOTHER, standard action, to your heal roll: +2.
Modius continues toward the fallen man.
I was thinking of having a look down the alley he staggered out of. But if Isat wants him moved then Modius will refrain.
Asian time meaning Beijing, Hong Kong, and I believe the Philippines and Taiwan are all on the same clock. GMT +8."
"Hrothgar? Shall we have a look?"
<Modius waves his hand toward the alley.>
Radavel, Taliesin, and Kruelaid all post on Asian time.
Modius looks Rufinus over with suspicion and surprise. He seems much friendlier than Hrothgar, his rough Goth friend.
"Isat, you're needed!"
Hrothgar the Red wrote: Will someone ask the good senator a question? Otherwise, the barbarian will mossey on to that varmint and ax him a thing or two. I should considering I have inside connection government and a +4 bonus to interactions with him (That would be a +11 Gather Info on the Senator), but I don't really understand what's going on except in the broadest brush strokes. I'm actually sitting here reading roman history to try and figure it out. All I've got is the dc 15 info which doesn't tell me much to start, and it's a little hard to understand. I guess I could start up a conversation with him, but I'm kind of a goal oriented dude so I don't know what to say.
Herald, do you think you could give me a little more on the Senator? I made the dc 15 local knowledge check by 7.
After we sort out this seemingly messed up guy, let's see if we can keep him from creating a ruckus, I'll approach the Senator and start asking.
Spot (1d20 3=19)
To his friends: "Trouble, brothers."
<Modius approaches the man warily.>
"Hey fellow, what has happened?"
Herald of the empire wrote: Isat only, use only the best result you qualify for. Can I look? My local knowledge result was 22.
Isat Vastra wrote: "Agreed. I hadn't noticed before, but now you mention it, that is odd." Isat glances across at his friend "Modius? Do you think there's something wrong here?" "Yes, but then I think there is always something wrong when one is discussing matters of Senators and the Senate."

"It seems strange that the Senator is unaccompanied in public, there have been attempts on his life. The life of a Senator... is all too dangerous."
<Modius seems to be a little distracted after saying this.>
"Aye, we know not."
<He gestures toward his friends.>
"My friends, Hrothgar, and Isat, both of whom perplexingly refuse to take Roman names. My name is Modius. We find ourselves out of work and we're thinking of starting our own legion."
<He smiles welcomingly so Gnaeus will know his jokes are friendly.>
"What do you think, Legionnaire?"
Isat Vastra wrote: "Modius, the flaw is that Heaven is for the dead. I thought your plans included riches in this life, not just the next one." "I'm praying Jesus will send me some of his gold and save me some time."
<Looking back at Hrothgar.>
Waving his nose at Rufinius: "He looks like your kin, Red one."
"Oh yes Jesus is rich. Heaven's roads are paved with gemstones. The buildings are gold, big brother, all gold."
Modius stands by his big friend quietly, listening to the Senator and watching the faces of those gathered around for their reactions, somewhat distracted by the fresh air brought by the rain.
Sense Motive (1d20 4=9)
Then loudly: "Thank you Jesus! I was tiring of the dust, this is refreshing," he says, looking up at Hrothgar. "See, when you need it most, there is rain. Some money shall come, too, big brother." Modius rests his hand on his purse.
Isat Vastra wrote: All will eventually come into his grace, however unsophisticated their approach. "I don't know.... I better ask a priest about that."
<Upon waking up one morning, to his pagan comrades.>
"Jesus just told me in a dream he's going to deal you all some advance grace in hopes that you might reconsider you present affiliations. What do you think? Can you take the son of GOd into your hearts, brothers?"
"I keep telling you Hrothgar, if you don't look to Jesus, HE will let someone best you. Yes, yes, rashes, bugs, plagues, pray to Jesus, pray to Jesus."
