About Mizuke

TEMPORARY POST, because copypasting doesn't work from building to building

*****************************
Okay so...I'm putting something together for my players, because they are awesome.

One of my players in the 3.5/Pathfinder campaign I'm running has Leadership. He(and the rest of the party) put together a mercenary company from a collection of applicants earlier in the game. The players have gotten attatched to a number of them, since they're not just faceless mooks, but their large number and varied nature may make them a bit overwhelming out in the field. They've been used sparingly by the party in combat so far, but that's going to change soon. Currently the cohort and followers have all left the city the campaign has been located in thus far, Korvosa, in order to avoid plot-relevant spoileriffic heat from some very powerful people. The party will be hooking up with them as soon as their business in the city is done, and they'll probably have some more followers in tow.

Before they reunite with the rest of their company, I plan on having easy/quick-reference cards for each and every follower available for them. The only thing I lack are portraits.

I'm scrounging the internets already, but I just wanted to run these by anyone passing through in case any of you have or know of a perfect picture for any of the guys.

I'm not using their names in the hopes of keeping them from stumbling upon this via Google-fu, but the party is:

NG human (Chelish) fighter
NG half-elf (Varisian) rogue
NG elf (Forlorn) cleric of Sarenrae(good, redemption, healing, honesty)
CN gnome sorcerer
N dwarf wizard (had to leave due to schedule shenanigans, hoping to come back in at some point)

Ethnicity Glossary:

Chelaxian/Chelish - Think Caucasian, western European types.

Shoanti - Some describe them as Native American in theme, and that puts you in the right ballpark but it's a bit more complicated than that. They have a distinct tribal culture, but aren't quite a distinct ethnicity(though eventually they will be). They vary widely in skin and hair color, though they tend to be darker skinned than Chelish in general.

Garundi - This encompasses most of the North African ethnicities, including any and all that comprised the peoples of ancient Egypt.

Kellid - Straight up Cimmerians, though slightly darker in tone.

Varisian - Romany, based upon both their historical equivalents and the more positive romanticized incarnations seen in popular fiction.

Vudran - India, complete with elaborate caste systems, and all the smaller ethnicities that comprise them.

The Men and Women of Korvosa's Finest

Cohort
Kirielle Jenna Fortner
LG Female Half-orc paladin of Iomedae (good, law, valor, justice)

Personality: Wide-eyed idealist to the core. Virtuous for its own sake and strong-willed enough to stand by her convictions, but she's also innocently naive and prone to hero worship around the party.
History: Orphaned daughter of a half-orc couple and brought up by a rather poor orphanage run by a devotee of Iomedae. She grew up listening to tales of the goddess of valor from the days before her apotheosis, and in turn used her half-orc physique to protect the smaller orphans. She never learned how to read, but memorized the bulk of Iomedae's holy text and could recite it by heart. She eventually swore to model her life after Iomedae. When she reached young adulthood, she sought out any adventuring company she could in order to prove herself, but always was either turned away for being too inexperienced, naive, and/or a half-orc, or she herself found whoever would have her morally lacking. She later met the party fighter when he was out trying to raise support for the newly crowned queen. She was inspired by his words and quickly latched onto him, thinking she had found a cause worth serving. He took her in and began training her as best as he could, being a relatively uncultured orphan himself, as he already had plans on establishing a mercenary company to "roight wrongs what needs roightin'". During this time the cleric taught her how to read, she was entrusted with the fighter's old house, and eventually recieved the divine calling she had sought for so long. Quickly became infatuated with the fighter, who in turn is busy being infatuated with the Field Marshal of Korvosa's guard. She has since tried to channel her feelings into a sort of "courtly love" for her boss. Currently the leader of Korvosa's Finest in the party fighter's absence.
Appearance: A tall and athletic woman with green skin and course, greenish-black hair currently cut in a "Joan of Arc bob". Her face is attractive by human standards, save possibly for the small tusks peeking out from the corners of her mouth. She typically appears serene or sternly determined, never angry to the point of bestial rage that is the half-orc stereotype. On the field, she is clad from head to toe in shining chainmail and half-plate, a sheild and worn, nicked longsword in hand.

Followers

Tiora

CN Female Human (Chelish) rogue

Personality: Flippant as hell. Streetsmart as far as survival on the city streets go, but gloriously ignorant on almost anything else and highly superstitious. Possibly a kleptomaniac, most likely just doesn't know any better. No inner monologue filter at all.
History: Grew up on the rough streets of Korvosa, getting by with small time theft and generally content with such a life until she picked the wrong purse to lift. After being captured and held prisoner along with a number of the other poor and homeless by a necromancer and his band of derro cultists, she started rethinking her life. She and the others were eventually saved by the party, after which she stole some healing items and offered them to the party as thanks. After thanking her and asking her not to do that again, they made contact with her again while searching for the necromancer's whereabouts. After finding out she was homeless, and still stealing to get by, the party's fighter offered her a room at his old house along with his paladin-in-training cohort-to-be, partially to give her shelter, and partially so Kirielle would keep an eye on her and hopefully prove to be a good influence. Tiora's experience in con jobs and matters illegal was put to use a couple of times afterwards before finally being made Kirielle's second-in-command in the Korvosa's Finest mercenary company. Mostly so Kirielle could keep an eye on her.
Appearance: Tiora is a gaunt, rough looking young woman with a mischievous glint in her eyes. Her reddish-blond hair is a perpetual mess, and she bears a few facial scars from some bad run-ins with disease earlier in life. Cute, in a punk sort of way, but somehow always dirty. Clad in old, worn out hooded leather armor. Dagger weilder.

Hudak

CG Male Human (Shoanti) ranger

Personality: Usually calm, rolls-with-the-blows type of fellow. Says he's just trying to get by though he's more a man of conviction than he thinks.
History: Born to one of the Shoanti tribes of the plateau north of Korvosa, Hudak left with some friends to find fame and fortune. They didn't find much of any in Korvosa, and he wound up looking for odd jobs to make ends meet while he weighed the options of going back home or staying near the friends he had just made outside his own tribe, despite the racism prevalent in the city. During a recent riot, Hudak was nearly beaten to death by Chelish thugs, and was only saved when the party stumbled onto the scene. He met them again, briefly, when a crowd gathered to watch a ship sink off the city's coast. He was then among the first to apply for employment with Korvosa's Finest, because honest work for Shoanti was becoming increasingly hard to find. After the initial surprise of meeting the party that had saved them running the show, he was immediately hired along with his sister.
Appearance: A lean, lanky man with deeply tanned skin, Hudak dresses in Chelish commoner clothes and solid leather armor, with a few Shoanti ornaments of bone and feathers to remind him of home. He keeps he head shaved clean according to Shoanti tradition. Would be an imposing figure if not for his almost perpetual, easy-going neutral expression. Primarily an archer.

Thorkin

NG Male Dwarf fighter

Personality: Gregarious, loud, cheerful and possessed of an amazing lack of proficiency with the Common tongue. Is honestly just happy to be here, often regardless of whereever "here" is at the moment.
History: Born and raised in Irrisen, a country ruled by the witch-daughters of Baba Yaga and governed by rules that seem to fly in the face of logic. He and his brother got out while they could when they thought they might have displeased a customer of their butcher's shop, on the off chance that she was a witch. They wound up in Korvosa, where his brother wound up working under the stage in the local opera house and he himself found work in private security. After some shake-ups in the campaign, he was left without a job, and applied for Korvosa's Finest. The party met his brother earlier, and immediately recognized his distinct accent. He was hired that day, and has since been unwittingly horrifying his co-workers with little tales of home back in Irrisen.
Appearance: A stocky, wild-eyed dwarf with an unkempt black bush of a beard. Often dresses lightly, because everywhere near Korvosa is a hell of a lot warmer than it was in Irrisen. Weilds an old, chipped, ornately-designed axe.

Salgonis Alkolami

NG Male Human (Chelish) fighter

Personality: Well-meaning, slightly foppish nobleman of a minor house. Easily distraught by the behavior of some of his coworkers. Eager to prove himself. A bit of a stiff until he gets a drink in him; after that...
History: The fourth son of the Alkolami family, a lesser noble house of Korvosa, Salgonis' easy tickets in life were mostly taken by his older siblings. Growing up studying military history and the art of fencing, he later applied for a position in the esteemed Sable Company, Korvosa's hippogriff mounted military force. After utterly failing to pass muster, even with his father pulling strings behind his back. When he found out about his father's interference, he applied to the commoner-run Korvosa's Finest, partially out of genuine respect for the company founders, who were heroes to the city at that point, but also as a slight to his father. Currently simultaneously somewhat smitten with and terrified by Triska.
Appearance: A blond, thin, well-dressed, well-groomed young man of noble descent. Fit but less sturdy than many of his comrades, he covers his chain shirt with the finest clothing he can afford, often cut in the traditions of military officers of far away Andoran(think 19th century naval uniforms through a medieval lens), which he suspects will soon become in-fashion for its neighboring countries. Weilds a fine, masterwork rapier, passed down(won in a bet) from his uncle.

Triska

CG Female Human (Shoanti) Barbarian

Personality: A young tribeswoman, hotheaded and fiercely protective of her family and friends. Supremely confident in herself despite trying to force square pegs into circular holes in social situations outside her own culture.
History: Triska was more traditional than her older brother, Hudak. She remained with her tribe, mostly content with life amongst her people. After word of Korvosa's growing unrest made its way to her lands, she left to find her brother, hoping to drag him back home. Soon after she found him, the city was placed under lockdown, trapping the two Shoanti siblings for quite some time. During this period, they did what they could to help others during some of the city's darkest days. Hudak managed to convince her to at least stand by him for a time, to help his friends as well as he could, and thus was dragged along to join Korvosa's Finest. Still trying to get a handle on Chelish people actually speaking to her respectfully, she seems to have struck up an extremely awkward relationship with the party rogue.
Appearance: A tanned, tall young woman with a muscular, amazonian build, Triska wears the traditional light hide armor of her people's warriors and weilds a two handed earthbreaker, a maul of Shoanti design, and a number of fall-back weapons, primarily hatchets and knives. Like her brother, she shaves her head according to tradition, but she allows a single thick braid of red hair to grow out in order to impress potential suitors(in Shoanti tradition, it's less about looking good and more about showing off your daring, hair is only good for being grabbed or catching fire on the Cinderlands).

Melchior Leysmythe

NG Male Human (Chelish) wizard

Personality: Friendly, talkative, excitable, and senile. Melchior mind and body struggle to keep up with his renewing lust for life, as he eagerly chases every new or forgotten experience he can while he has the opportunity.
History: Melchior trained at the second most prestigious mage college in Korvosa(which is true, considering there are only two mage colleges in town), and settled for a comfortable life of steady gainful employment amongst the college staff and as a scribe later in life. After the recent excitement in Korvosa and at his young, great-grandchildrens' needling, the ninety-two year old Melchior wishes to experience some actual adventure before his time is up, both for himself and for his childrens' childrens' children. He currently serves as a scroll scriber for Korvosa's Finest and is sent along with some of his more responsible co-workers whenever they have field work that is almost certainly risk-free. I've told the players that I'm rolling a "natural causes" check for him every in-game week, which is a blatant lie.
Appearance: Imagine the Six-Flags guy with a great big bushy beard. This thin, wizened-to-the-point-of-almost-having-bark, old man's joints pop and crack almost every time he moves, but he carries on with an almost unnatural resevoir of energy unless he doses off suddenly. He's clad in the most comfortable house robe he picked up before leaving the house. He's not a finely dressed wizard, but he's a comfortably dressed one.

Asmodia Felcrest

LG Female Human (Chelish) fighter

Personality: Highly professional, serious guardswoman. At first glance she's a humorless busybody, with her work as her life. She actually stands strongly behind her ideals, though she often hides it behind her deadpan manner.
History: Asmodia, named as such by her poorly educated mother "because it sounded pretty", wanted to follow her late father's footsteps into the armed service of Korvosa ever since she was a child. After finally securing a post in the Korvosan Guard, she set herself towards excellence in service to the city and crown, and was well on her way to promotion and a possible transfer to the famed Sable Company. Unfortunately, a scandal involving a couple of guards close to her being revealed as connected to the drug trade sidelined her ambitions. She carried the stigma of her compatriots reputation until the day she was let go during the cut-backs the Guard has recently suffered. She sees Korvosa's Finest as one of the few honest opportunities open to her now, especially after being warned by the party about the shadiness of some of her other options.
Appearance: A woman of moderate height and athletic build, she keeps her blond hair cut short in a professional soldier's style, and keeps her inherited armor, short sword, and ranseur almost obsessively polished and clean. Appears calm and composed most of the time unless someone puts effort into getting under her skin.

Pavo Morells

CG Human (Chelish) Fighter

Personality:

Pretty much.
History: The second youngest of seven siblings, Pavo grew up on the mean streets of Old Korvosa, getting into scraps quite often with and/or for his brothers and sisters. With few prospects open to him, he followed his father's footsteps as a bodyguard(thug for hire), though his mother often angrily reminded him that it was not the life she had intended for him. When word got out that Korvosa's Finest was hiring, Pavo saw both a chance to make his mother proud and grab some fame and glory by sticking close to the guys that were causing such a stir. He won the party over with his enthusiasm, but he has always been carefully placed alongside at least one co-worker who can rein him in.
Appearance: Shorter than many of his older comrades, this lean youth barely into adulthood wears light armor and weilds a small buckler, stolen-long-ago long sword, and often a sap. Wide-eyed and almost always outwardly cocky, he looks far less like a hardened warrior and more like a street punk acclimated to hit-and-run fights.

Larson Tsizanna

NG Male Human (Varisian/Chelish) rogue

Personality: A taciturn man, slow to open up to others, Larson harbors dreams of fame and fortune, much of which would be channelled towards comfort and security for his family. As it is, he keeps an almost sheepish manner around his comrades, as if afraid of stepping on someone's toes.
History: Larson was hired on by his uncle to help around his shop, as a way of helping his brother and sister-in-law. The young man attended to his duties seriously, though he quietly despaired over the prospect of being stuck there for most of his life. Until one day, when his uncle showed him something in the basement: A poorly sealed entrance into the Vaults, the maze-like jumble of chambers, buildings, sewer tunnels, and forgetten architecture upon which Korvosa was built. Larson immediately fell in love with the idea of exploring the Vaults, and spent much of his time studying what maps there were and speaking with those who had actually properly explored some of them. Eventually, he and a few others made short ventures down below, never too far, and never running into much of anything dangerous or valuable. Still, he learned much about the world underneath Korvosa. After his sister nearly fell victim to the recent plague that struck Korvosa, Larson sought out those responsible for finding the cure. When he learned that they were hiring, he leapt at the chance.
Appearance: Larson is a thin, dark haired man clad in form fitting, piecemal leather armor that he cobbled together from scraps he was able to buy off of others. He's covered in the straps and belts that hold it all together, along with his tools, so that nothing sticks out and catches on anything at an inopportune moment. Rather somber looking fellow, much of the time.

Vorsa

LG Female Human (Chelish) monk

Personality: A soft spoken woman in her early thirties, Vorsa is often mistaken for being a simpleton due to her awkward demeanor. She's actually a rather thoughtful woman, though her shyness and difficulty with speaking to others makes this hard to see. Quite a bit of a gentle giant as well.
History: Vorsa was born and raised in one of the small towns outside Korvosa to a rather large farming family. She often spent much of her free time visiting one of the local inns, specifically to watch the cook ply his trade. A devotee of Irori, the cook took her under her wing, showing her how to cook as well as demonstrating the martials arts in an attempt to instill some much needed confidence in the girl. Vorsa studied dilligently, and upon reaching adulthood set off to Korvosa to try and make a name for herself in one of its finer restaurants. She bounced around a bit for the next few years before finally landing a stable position in one of the restaurants that catered to students of the three city colleges. Though she built a reputation as a dependable chef, after the recent outbreaks of riots and disease in Korvosa, the establishment was forced to let her go. She stumbled onto the line for Korvosa's Finest when it opened its doors the next day, and won the position as company cook.
Appearance: A friendly looking, strong, heavy-set woman whose weight hides an unexpected capacity for speed and agility. Imagine a female Sammo Hung. Her light brown hair is often a messy mop unless she's at work. She dresses simply in commoner's clothes, always favoring practicality over aesthetics.

Kaleb Sandermel

CG Male Halfling bard

Personality: Often initially charming, though he eventually tends to sell himself too hard, Kaleb is an outwardly cheerful man who is quick lift the spirits of others, driven in no small part by the fact that happy people are more likely to offer coin and comfort.
History: Raised as a slave in the current, devil-haunted regime of Cheliax, Kaleb endured his lot quietly and witnessed things that would haunt his dreams for the rest of his life. Dreaming of a better, easier life in other lands, Kaleb managed to find creative release in song and later strings. This caught the eye of one aristocrat, who often flaunted her "pet" at parties. This was Kaleb's ticket to freedom, as he managed to sneak away during one of his owner's trips abroad in Absalom, the shipping center of the region. The boat he snuck aboard arrived in Korvosa soon after. After getting by on his trade as best he could, moving from tavern to tavern, he heard tales of the men behind Korvosa's Finest and their attitudes towards devils and diabolitry in general. The opportunity to have a steady source of warm meals, clean bedding, and possibly being able to stick it to the culture he had suffered under was too good to pass up. He is currently trying to cash in on his made-up reputation as a ladies' man, but has recieved no takers.
Appearance: A garishly dressed halfling man with overly cared-for brown hair, Kaleb tries to strike a rakish figure as much as possible, but the obvious second-hand nature of his clothing and his over-the-top attempts at a suave demeanor give him away. Keeps a barely used rapier by his side, and a more often used lute strapped over his back.

Jimmi "Morden" Dawnshore

CG Male Human (Chelish) sorcerer (Celestial Bloodline)

Personality: Depressing, somber, cursed with a terrible darkness over his soul. That's how he tries to sell himself. Morden puts on a show of being a tortured young man, cursed by the fates and struggling against the lure of his dark ancestry when in fact he's essentially just your typical angsty teenager who happens to have had a celestial pretty far up his family tree.
History: "Morden" claims to be the bastard offspring of a witch and some ill-defined being of darkness. He hides in the shadows, away from the society that spurns him for the nature of his birth, heroically resisting his father's nature and mastering the darkness within himself. The truth is that Jimmi is from a well-adjusted, generally happy family who have a number of Sarenraen priests in their family tree. Jimmi's gifts became apparent around that difficult age, and he crafted a new identity for himself to stand out from the crowd. When Korvosa's Finest opened, he saw an opportunity for more attention, and he jumped at the call. Not one of the party fell for his ruse, but the fighter running the business took him in anyway in the hopes of "making a man" out of him. That particular task was then entrusted to Hudak, who in turn entrusted it to Triska. Triska doesn't even know where to start with the unusual boy.
Appearance: A pale, slight-framed young man with black-dyed long hair, dressed in nothing but black on black, often robes of common make that he has attempted to make as grandiose as possible, Morden is obviously trying far too hard. For all his talk of his dark lineage, the magic that comes to him most naturally is a radiant healing light. Wears more make-up than every woman in the company combined(not that many of them wear any to begin with).

Orthas Glaesen

CG Male Human (Chelish) cleric of Cayden Cailean (freedom, good, chaos, courage, alcohol)

Personality: Easy-going fellow who takes life as it comes, good or ill, and always finds the bright side of things. Quick to befriend anyone and share a drink and quicker to accept one. Very Friar Tuck-ish, with maybe a bit of Rodney Dangerfield.
History: Orthas and his wife Stella are life-long followers of Cayden Cailean, and it shows on both of their physiques. This older couple are almost perpetually happy though, living the good life and doing good where they can, most often serving as friendly ears to the lost that find themselves in many of Korvosa's taverns. Both have helped maintained the small shrine to Cayden Cailean in Korvosa for the past few years, and recently did their part in caring for the sick during the recent plague outbreak. After things had settled down, Orthas indulged himself in a particularly long binge to both celebrate the plague's seeming end and to forget some of the things he had seen. During this period, he found himself in line for the tryouts for Korvosa's Finest(which shares the name of an up and coming brewery owned by the party rogue). The cleric had no clue what was going on, but happily answered any questions the party had for him. The party took a liking to him(and thought that having a priest of Cayden in their employ could help boost the reputation of the affiliated brewery) and offered him a room in the back so he could rest. They promptly forgot about him until he knocked on the fighter's door that night, asking for some sawdust and wondering where he was. He later decided that if he had stumbled into such a place while drunk, Cayden meant for him to be there, and so he remains in the fighter's employ.
Appearance: A jolly, overweight man in his late 40's who clearly enjoys his meals and his drink, Orthas clearly has a zest for life. He most often wears commoner's clothing, always favoring comfort over anything else, and keeps a little-used rapier by his side. His hair is still dark, but is in full retreat.

Aspexia Veday

N Female Human (Chelish) cleric of Pharasma (death, magic, prophesy)

Personality: A serious young woman, who honestly doesn't realize just how deadpan she sounds all the time, Aspexia attends to her duties with absolute dedication. Doesn't really know how to lighten up, as she has lived most of her life within the church of Pharasma.
History: Orphaned at an early age, Aspexia was placed in the care of the priests of Pharasma by her aunt. She grew up under their care, and gained an almost fanatical devotion to her goddess, something that alarmed the clergy caring for her. She was more comfortable dealing with the dead than the living, and her environment did not help alleviate her social awkwardness. The elder priest in charge of her guidance was later saved by the party during a ghoul outbreak in the city cemetary during a mass burial. She kept an eye on the party, and took notice when they began gathering others under their employ. Using the good deeds the party had done for the city as her reasoning, she assigned the young woman to aid them however she could, in order to give the girl a good look at life outside the church before she returned, if she chose to do so. Aspexia obediently complied, and has already won her position for her capacity as a healer and as someone knowledgable in the art of forensics.
Appearance: Aspexia is a dusky, dark-haired young woman often clad in the black or gray robes of her faith, always with the ritual dagger of her goddess by her side. She usually cuts a rather ghostlike figure, shifting in and out of the crowd quietly.

Gadell Nichola

LG Male Human (Varisian) fighter

Personality: Friendly and courteous, but somewhat evasive on personal matters. Gadell is a man of his word and of conscience, almost fatalistically so. Sounds like Michael York.
History: Gadell grew up in the Varisian ghetto of Korvosa, and worked hard to get where he is today, a professional soldier in the employ of the Korvosan Guard. He built a reputation on his strength of character that managed to match any adversity thrown his way due to his ethnicity, but it still did not save his job when the Guard suffered recent cut-backs. Desperate for honest work and to still do some good for his city, he applied to the Korvosa's Finest mercenary company, where his professionalism quickly won him a position. He remains conspicuously quiet about his personal life, not because his lover is a man(homosexuality carries no real stigma in Varisia), but because his lover is rather embarrassing at times and the party has met him already.
Appearance: Gadell is a powerfully built, dark-haired man clad in soldier's armor, usually weilding a bastard sword. Square-jawed fellow, he looks like a story-book hero to some.

Garris

CN Male Human (Kellid) fighter

Personality: Hot-blooded and boastful, the mysterious Garris' bark is far worse than his bite. He attempts to come across as a bloodthirsty man of war, but he eventually reveals himself as not being quite at home in battle as he claims.
History: Garris was a sailor on one of the many merchant vessels sailing the Inner Sea. He obeyed his captain's orders always, though he would often boast to his shipmates that he was meant for greater things and any day now he would strike out on his own for fame and fortune. After ten years of this and going nowhere, he was drawn to the cargo hold one night by whispers only he could hear. He cracked open one of the crates, finding a black length of spiked chain that seemed to call out to him, whispering half-remembered racial memories of the warlike heroes of his people. Believing he had found his calling, he stole the chain, swore his loyalty to Gorum, the god of war and a favorite of the Kellid people, and jumped ship. He never learned that the chain he has stolen was from a shipment of faulty, damaged, and cursed magic items being transported to a safe disposal vault. He honestly believes he has been given a divine mission, to seek battle in his god's name.
Appearance: Kellid is a muscular man in his 30's, bearing the scars of work accidents rather than battle. He's clad in a rather over-the-top set of black, spiked armor, to fit the theme of the spiked chain he keeps on him at all times. He attempts to keep a look of bloodthirsty glee on his face in the midst of battle, but anyone paying attention can tell that it wavers between forced bravado and outright panic.

And then there's these guys, six monks. The fighter may or may not acquire them as followers, but everything seems to be leaning towards them winding up in the party's care at least. The party is dead set on saving them. I'm still fine-tuning their personalities, but their history is pretty unified.

Irya, Javin, Satyajit (male)
Pramiti, Dyuti, Indu (female)

6 LN Human (Vudrani) monks

Personality: The six monks are eager to please and obey, as they have been raised their entire life to do so. They find comfort in performing tasks and being needed, and the idea of freedom or being unnecessary is absolutely terrifying to them. Extremely, perhaps even frustratingly, humble.
History: The six monks are members of a controversial Vudran subcaste, which pulls its members from the children of the "untouchable" caste. These children are raised to be tools, and taught that the only hope they have of redeeming the sins of their past lives is to surrender all their desires and serve others in order to cleanse their karma. This subcaste produces some of the finest bodyguards in the Inner Sea region, men and women willing to follow any order and willingly give their lives in service to their owners. To be without an owner is to be of no use, and any slave monk who finds themself in such a situation must kill himself/herself. To free a member of this caste is to sentence them to death. Vudrani culture as a whole is torn on the matter of this sub-caste, as it is a relatively recent establishment(only a millenium old) and it just happens to bring in a profit for the caste in charge of their training.
These six monks in particular were sold to a Korvosan nobleman in secret, and the party is on the edge of killing said nobleman for some very good reasons. If they manage to blackmail the nobleman instead, or if they are able to fool the monks into believing they have been sold, one member of the party will find himself the owner of six people, something that is weighing heavily on the good-hearted adventurers. If they do wind up in the party's ownership, their lot will improve greatly, as they have witnessed some terrible sights while in the nobleman's possession, some of which nearly broke their resolve to their god.
Apperance: All of the monks are young Vudrani possessed of finely honed physiques. Each of them keeps their head shaved save for a single long braid of black hair, in honor of their god Irori. The six monks are all dressed in dressed in accordance to their current master's whims, in fine Vudrani silks that do not interfere with their movement. Left to their own devices and their new master's allowance, they would prefer simple monk's clothing, as they feel they are not worthy of such finery.

There are a number of other supporting NPC characters that are extremely tight with the PCs, some of which might eventually join their company(and one who is already the company mascot):

Quinta Leroung

NG Female Human (Chelish) cleric of Sarenrae

Personality: Kind and caring, and with a strong sense of duty to others, Quinta is devoted to her goddess and her flock. Highly educated and book smart, she often rambles on subjects once encouraged to start, but she remains a valuable source of information on matters involving Korvosa's high society. She has recently taken a rather somber turn, after some recent tragedies.
History: Quinta Leroung is a daughter of the noble Leroung family. Raised in the lap of luxury, she shocked her family when she gave it up in favor of joining and living in the temple of Sarenrae. Realizing that having a daughter in the clergy of a goddess beloved by the common people did help their image, they largely came around eventually. During her time at the temple, she formed a close sibling-like bond with the party cleric, and they have been fast friends throughout the campaign. When the recent troubles began, her family attempted to call her home to keep her safe, but she refused and stayed at the temple to fulfill her duties to the people. Later, her brother was murdered in a horrific massacre of a small party at a minor noble's manor. After suffering a crisis of faith, it was the party cleric who convinced her to return to the temple. She continues to fulfill her duties, but a growing hunger for vengeance against her brother's killers(who are still at large) has taken root in her heart.
Appearance: Quinta is a 20-something woman clad in fine quality vestments of her goddess(who has an ankh-like symbol). She keeps her blond hair braided in a bun while at work tending to the sick and wounded. Though her face is usually serene, lately her mood has grown darker as her conscience and faith wrestle with her need to strike at those who have harmed her family.

Majenko

NG Male Pseudodragon bastard

Personality: Initially charming, and quick to get into the good graces of strangers, Majenko inevitably reveals his mooching and lazy nature whenever he gets his foot in the door. He means well most of the time, and he does have a sense of responsibility, but if you give him an inch he'll take a mile. Bit of a mean drunk. Absolutely HATES imps to the point of frothing at the mouth.
History: One of the many pseudodragons roosting in the perilous rooftops of Korvosa, Majenko has always gotten by by charming the locals and being absolutely bat@#$% and vicious when cornered. Lost most of his siblings before they even hatched when an imp found his mother's nest, and his hatred for their kind(which are also numerous in Korvosa's skies) exceeds the usual levels exhibited by Korvosa's little drakes. One day he got too mouthy with the wrong people in the hive that is Old Korvosa, and he found himself locked in a cage and the target of abusive sport for one of its nastier crime bosses. After the party eliminated said crime boss, Majenko swore himself to the party rogue's service for one year. What followed has been a real love-hate relationship between the two. Majenko has been helpful at times, both in social situations and dangerous work in the field, but he's also a right bastard at times, especially if he's been drinking. The rogue's mother adores him. He milks that for all it is worth.
Appearance: A dark, purple/black scaled dragon two feet in length. He always seems to be sizing people up, unless he's turning the charm on. He bears a few scars from his nastier scrapes with Korvosa's imp population.

There are a number of other supporting NPC characters that are extremely tight with the PCs, some of which might eventually join their company(and one who is already the company mascot):
