Tim,
At what point during the writing of this module did you decide...

I have the pleasure to announce Free RPG Day events at both Twin Cities locations participating in Free RPG Day (The Source, and The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center)!
Tomorrow, June 18th, come join us in playing "We Be Goblins", a special module written by Richard Pett. Unlike traditional modules, players have the opportunity to play as Goblins, who are on a special quest for their tribe's leader for "big fire". Goblin characters will be provided; players may not bring their own PCs. At the end of the adventure you will be provided a chronicle sheet you may apply to any 1st or 2nd level PFS character with a special goblin-based boon and some very fun equipment.
The two stores are running in distinctly different styles of organization to support both the planners and those who like to pop into local games.
The Source
The Source is hosting two tables worth of games starting at both 10:00 and 2:00 (for a total of 4 sessions). Games at The Source are on a first-come-first-served basis and space is limited, so show up early if you wish to join us.
Fantasy Flight Games Event Center
The FFG Event Center is hosting two tables at 1:00. A sign-up sheet is available with limited space remaining, so sign-up there if you wish to guarantee a place at one of the gaming tables.
About the Minneapolis/St. Paul Pathfinder Society
We are a group of friendly players in the Twin Cities area looking for more players to participate in regular Pathfinder Society game days. Local games are played on Sundays at both The Source and FFG. You can find out more about our event schedule at http://www.meetup.com/msp-pathfinders. Come join in the discussion and find a place to play near you!
I've expressed my gratitude for Michael's modules in the past, now it's time to do it again. I had the distinct pleasure of running The Mantis's Prey for Pathfinder Society at PaizoCon and I honestly have to say it is one of my favorites to date (with my absolute #1 favorite being Silent Tide, another Michael Kortes original). As with all of Michael's modules, it has a lot to do with a great blend of action and roleplay opportunities. If I were to name the top-10 module/adventure products Paizo has put out, I think Mr. Kortes' name will be popping up on more than one occasion.
So here's my request. Write more! Specifically, write for PFS. Don't let the AP and module players get all the fun (okay let them have some of the fun), but spread the love a little, because honestly, you're one of my favorite module authors to date. Thanks again for the great adventures.
Well isn't that an awesome little change?
I was out on the Gen Con forums this morning and noticed this little tidbit.
Seems that the group that runs the D&D tournaments and Sagamore Ballroom events is struggling a bit for getting judges for this year, to the point that the coordinator is saying if he doesn't get judges he will be cancelling events.
Baldman Games wrote: This is Gencon. I could use pretty much an unlimited supply of judges. I still need about 50 more judges for this show. Otherwise I will start having to remove tickets from the system as I won't have judges to cover the tables. Please help out if you can. Not doom and gloom or anything, but just an interesting observation on the state of the game.
Over the last few days (at least that's when I noticed it), I've found that the search function no longer processes +, - and "<word here>" commands. Phrase searches don't function, instead both words are searched for independently. This one I am sure of 100%, and since the page specifically says you can do that kind of search, it would seem to be malfunctioning. I'm less sure about the former presence of the +/- commands, but they also aren't working if they ever were part of the search engine. Once you process the search, not only do the results not properly narrow, but your search operators are removed from the search phrase on the results window.
Is this me just being obtuse or has there been a change?
Can I up Doug to run two scenarios during each-time?
This is another open call to adventurers for Pathfinder Society on April 17th at Noon. We have three tables running and have seats to spare!
Come join the long-standing Pathfinder Society group based in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) metro area, the MSP Pathfinders! We are an established group of players getting together for regular Pathfinder Society sponsored games and are steadily growing.
All players, new and veteran, young and old are always welcome.
You can contact me at vcbolduan@gmail.com for details, or you can register at Warhorn.
When
Sunday April 17th at Noon
Where
Fantasy Flight Games Event Center - Roseville Minnesota
What
The Pallid Plague (One Table)
Before the Dawn Part I - The Bloodcove Disguise (Two Tables)
I should note. Due to our growth, we will likely be transitioning out of the Fantasy Flight Games Event center and moving to other locations across the Metro area. Contact me if you would like to know more!

To start this off, let's take the definition from the book.
Quote: A confused creature is mentally befuddled and cannot act normally. A confused creature cannot tell the difference between ally and foe, treating all creatures as enemies. Allies wishing to cast a beneficial spell that requires a touch on a confused creature must succeed on a melee touch attack. If a confused creature is attacked, it attacks the creature that last attacked it until that creature is dead or out of sight.
Roll on the following table at the beginning of each confused subject's turn each round to see what the subject does in that round.
d% Behavior
01–25 Act normally.
26–50 Do nothing but babble incoherently.
51–75 Deal 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand.
76–100 Attack nearest creature (for this purpose, a familiar counts as part of the subject's self).
A confused creature who can't carry out the indicated action does nothing but babble incoherently. Attackers are not at any special advantage when attacking a confused creature. Any confused creature who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes. Note that a confused creature will not make attacks of opportunity against anything that it is not already devoted to attacking (either because of its most recent action or because it has just been attacked).
I highlighted the various points which have caused our group's confusion (no pun intended). We have three phrases which cause the interpretation problems.
1) The first the section states that an attackee will attack an attacker until that attacker is dead.
2) The second sentence states that every round you get to roll (which produces options other than attacking your attacker).
3) Finally, the third sentence states that anybody who is attacked will attack their attacker on the next turn, but only if it is still confused.
There are several methods of interpreting these options. Does #1 trump #2, or vice versa? Point #3 implies could be interpreted to mean that if your % roll is low enough you're not confused, but does it force you to make an automatic attack anyway? The phrasing is a little self-contradictory and I'm looking to see what other GMs have done.

Hello again!
The regular meeting of the MSP Pathfinders has been scheduled for Sunday March 20th and as-always we're looking for players. We have enough registered that we have three different modules running at three tables with players currently ranging in level from 1 to 3. There's still space available and we enjoy fresh mea...I mean faces, so if you're interested come join us.
When: Sunday March 20th, 12:00 Noon to 5:00
Where: Fantasy Flight Games Event Center in Roseville, Minnesota
What: #41: The Devil You Know Part III: Crypt of Fools (running at sub-tier 3-4), #51: The City of Strangers Part 1 - The Shadow Gambit (running at sub-tier 1-2), and #5: The Mists of Mwangi (running at sub-tier 1-2)
I'd like to play, what should I do?
If you are interested, please let me know at my e-mail address (rbolduan <at> gmail <dot> com), and either myself or one of our other players will get you in the loop to get setup. If you have any friends or family that may be interested, please let me know.
This is a diverse group of all types and ages (we have two families who bring their kids to these games although one group won't be able to make it on Sunday), so we're friendly to players of all kinds.
If you are new to pen & paper or have not played in a while, this is a great bunch to start back up with.
I want to send out a great big thanks to my veteran players. We had a big bundle of new talent arrive today including another father/son combo and my players did a spectacular job making them both feel at home and get to know the system. We even had a walk-up watch our group and ask to join for our next session. I had the opportunity to move out from behind the GM screen for this one session and it was a great deal of fun playing with a group of new blood.
I play with a spectacularly fun and friendly group of players and I just want to give them the kudos they are due. So thanks guys.

I need help with my cleric's background, specifically, how he rationalizes being a follower of Urgathoa. I've come up with the basic background, but I feel it's just too rough right now with a hole about the size of a truck, and I want it to make sense. Basically I feel I have an A and C, but I don't have the B that links it all together.
My newest PFS character is a TN Gnome Cleric of Urgathoa. He's been built with a dexterity and intelligence of 8 but with a 16 wisdom (and higher con and charisma values). Basically he's wider than he is tall, or at least that's how I describe him. He also is a skilled cook (and that's about all he's skilled at) and easily falls into the glutton category of Urgathoa's followers. He's kind of a typical gnome, except that he's a little more concerned about the bleaching and is actively trying to deal with that selfishly, and occasionally needs to step on toes along the way in attempts to avoid his eventual curse. I know he's none-too-bright which is the fundamental reason he is a cleric of Urgathoa (he doesn't know any better really), but I need to tie in the whole ties to the undead thing and/or disease thing with that backstory, and there I'm drawing a blank.
Overall My trouble is that I'm having difficulty fully rationalizing how he lives with who he is (especially the not being evil part) with the fact that he follows a fundamentally evil god. I'm happy with him overall, but I just don't feel right without that connection. Ideas?
That's the sound made when seven people ask to join your regularly scheduled PFS game all within three days of gameday.
I'm curious if anybody has ever had this happen to them and what their solution was. Obviously if the group was already near capacity there's a darned good chance that just aren't enough GMs to join in on such short notice, especially when this hasn't been an issue yet to date. Looks like I need to come up with a plan.
Topless Robot ran a contest recently asking for players to submit the worst RPG character they've ever encountered. Submissions are pretty funny in general, they remind me of my early days of gaming.
You can read about it here
The real question is can anybody here beat them?
