The information about the fetchling and the Tien family yes. They appreciated it and I think I can use them to deal with our Bloody Barber problem.

Milax thanks Jiri and continues once everyone is comfortable... Gazerich gives token respect to Lamashtu, mostly because of his dealings in the Mana Wastes trading Gnoll Tribes for slaves. Though I would not leak this to the city guard, but there are other organizations that would find that information useful. Aeadon I believe you have had some limited experience on the flesh market when you tracked the Ogrekin. I gave that information to an informant of mine in the Bellflower Tillers, are any of you familiar with them?

Knowledge Local DC 12/+4 if from Cheliax or Andoran or Rahadoum:
The Bellflower Tillers are a group of freedom fighters that free slaves from the Cheliax plantations and are zealously opposed to slavery.

I appreciate your enthusiasm Maldrek, and though the Bloody Barbers are a thorn in our side, that is all they are. There is much more that requires our resources at the moment. Agreal, Gazerich is only one part of the Bloody Barbers, a higher ranking Captain, but not the leader. His affiliation with Lamashtu is known, though he does not flaunt it here, but you and Jiri have given me an idea. Milax picks up her glass to take another drink and realizes it is empty. But first another round please bartender. She says handing Jiri the glass with a smile.

Synthia whispers something in Milax's ear

Perception DC 15:
Shan is late.
Milax has a worried look and nods in response.

Milax notices Corvus' increase in attentiveness and continues. This map I still need to examine, but I believe it will prove to be most usefull. As she rolls it back up you notice a seal on the back side of the map.

Knowledge Nobility DC 12:
This is a seal for the Blackrose family, a large and influential noble house based in Absalom.
As to dealing with Gazerich, I thought I would let you give me some ideas. It needs to be subtle, but total.

It had many purposes. The information you did gather was important, but so was observing you and drawing Gazerich off of his ship. While he was away the cat did play Milax says smiling and holds up a map. I needed to get on board to fetch this, but Gazerich and his crew, dimwitted they may be, but are still very perceptive especially on their ship. This is for another time though. For now, yes Gerrik I think it is time to deal with Gazerich.

Synthia just smiles and looks at Milax when she starts to speak.

Yes, and no. I wanted to see how you would size up a location, but I knew that Gazerich would be there also. Milax responds to Jiri and looks to Noro waiting for an answer.

Yes, I was hoping by sending you out that the Barber's would make a move. Interesting though that they singled out Noro. Why do you think that is Noro? Milax asks calmly as she sips her drink.

Aeadon:
Xander Rex was a semi-famous Magus who trained at the Wise Quarter. He often boasted he was an ancestor of Nex himself, though no one confirmed or denied his claims. He has been missing for a year after returning from a competition in Jalmery. Rumor has it that he insulted the Red Mantis or that they were hired to remove him as competition, either way the Red Mantis part seems accurate.

Milax waits to take a sip of her drink before she answers Maldrek. Let's here all of it, I am puurrticularly interested in who Norvyn Fairweather is and how you know him. She continues to sip from her drink as she eyes the party.

The Crimson Coin is unusually quiet. Some of the regulars are at the bar, but the typical scene of Arena Carnage is no where to be found this night.

Shan was in earlier and most of our people left with him, so we have the place mostly to ourselves. The High Lady is here still though, so don't get any ideas. Milax says from behind the party as she closes the door. Let's go sit at a table, Jiri if you would be so kind as to pour us all a round we will begin the debriefing.

Assuming you all want to report in at this point.

Milax is waiting outside the crimson coin leaning casually against the wall next to the doorman.

Took you long enough. After you. The doorman opens the door and Milax waits for you all to enter.

This time you should all work together, I will not be there. There are many dangers on the docks, it is a highly contested area. Of course some of you are better at doing certain things so play to your strengths. Remember the Code of Fire, the brutality we displayed at the Eastgate was a rarity, though sometimes required. Milax says with almost a hint of regret.

So, you are now trained enough to go back in the field alone. I want you all to scout the docks for a fresh shipment ripe for the taking. Find out as much as you can about the shipment and who owns it then return to me. Do not let your intentions be known, use stealth and trickery, but do not make a move on the goods until I give the go ahead. Any questions?

Maldrek:
No, I understand that. What I am asking is what is it that you want from Shan that he owed you? I also thought you had narrowed it down to three. In any case I think Milax will have a compromise.

I am sure as a member of House of Tevineg you are aware of our relationship. I think you misunderstand my intentions with the use of your contract, but if information is what you seek we might be able to secure access to a few select tomes, if you think we can come and go where we please brazenly I think you mistake us for someone else. I am not sure what you wish to know, but I will give you a week's worth of studying Devils. You can take 20 on 7 rolls of Knowledge Religion and Knowledge Planes as you study the tomes. I will give you information about devils from your results as well as answer questions to the best of my ability to provide you with the information you seek.

Milax returns to Sarvin, and Agreal and says Hmm, we better go before these two wake up. Let's go find the others.

Milax and company arrives just as you all finish the ambush. She helps you hide the bodies and tells you all to find your way back to the Crimson Coin and congratulates you all on a job well done. A bit messy, but these will do. I will put the armor and clothing in my bag to handle the weight. Meet me back at the Crimson coin, we will plan our next job.

*********************Welcome to Level 2*************************

You can now select any Class/Archetype from Core/APG/ARG/UC/UM. You will have a week of down time as you train in the Crimson Coin/Irorium to become what ever class it is you choose. In addition to what you gain from a week of downtime, you will gain your class max for starting gold.

Milax smiles playfully Oh yes, I had almost forgotten
Milax comes down from the stairs and faces the south wall. She scratches an upside down pentagram into the wall and whispers. The wall fades away and reveals another 10'x10' room. Equipment of all sorts is in this room: clothing, weapons, writing utensils, various tools.

This is one of our safe-houses within Absalom. Once you have risen in the ranks you will have access to this room on your own. For now a Knight-Captain must be present to open it for you. At this time find anything you think you will need, but I caution you to travel light. Be aware that all these items are accounted for, should you decide to attempt to sell them to others.

Any BASIC equipment from the Core Role Book can be found here, with the following caveats Only Rogue Weapons, Only Light Armor. There is a Tien costume available as well as others. When using the items in here for disguise you receive a +5 circumstance bonus.

Aeadon:
This is a simple Dimensional Door of some sort, probably only capable of local travel. It is reasonable to assume that this leads to the flesh market in Absalom. The door will close soon, and it requires a device to open.

Aeadon:
You see the Ogrekin hobble around the corner as you get out of the cellar. They are dragging a bound and gaged human. As you stealthily move to follow them you see one of them activate some sort of magical gate in an archway between two buildings. They do a quick look around to see if anyone is watching.1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Failing to notice you they begin to step into the shimmering gateway. You can roll Knowledge Arcana for more information on the gate.

Milax turns to the others Ok lets get moving. Noro and Jiri you know your roles. Gerrik and Corvus you will wait to ambush the sentries when they pass by. I will show you where to set up. Everyone else prepare to move as fast and quiet as possible.

Shhhh, the guest outside is not ours I assure you. Milax says answering Aqreal. Milax sniffs the air.

Ogrekin, from the precipice. They do slave runs for the market. It would be worth keeping tabs on them, this is a unique opportunity. I can not go so I need to send one of you. Aeadon, your language abilities will be usefull to pick up information they might share. The Ogrekins from the precipice speak a broken mix of Osiriani and Giant. Wait for my signal, then go follow them. I need to know all information you can give me on them. Find me at the Crimson coin when you are finished, make sure you are not followed though.

Milax climbs to the top of the stairs and cracks the door ever so slightly to peer outside. She opens it only enough for Aeadon to squeeze through and waves him up. As he squeezes through she drops a potion in his pocket

Aeadon:
Milax whispers I hope you don't need it, but incase you do. Good luck. you gain a potion of invisibility

So, Noro and Jiri will be my two to lure some sentries away. Who are the two that want to lay in wait? The rest will be coming with me. Milax says casually as she licks her hands and runs her clawed fingers through her black hair. She seems to pause for a moment and her ears perk up.

Perception DC 8:
There is some movement outside but it seems to be passers-by.

Perception DC 15:
The movement outside is being caused by humanoids, probably heavier than a human though. It sounds like they are dragging something. You hear a faint muffled voice barley able to pierce the thick walls of this underground cellar.

Your abilities with the crossbow will be useful, but there are currently too many sentries to take them all on at once. If we can divide them up into two groups we have better odds. Milax responds to Maldrek then looks to Jiri Yes you are a good speaker, but Varisian is too common here, and I do not know anyone that could pull off a Dragon or Halfling. Anyone else?

Just to be clear the portcullis is not in the Precipice district, it is just north of it still in the Eastgate District, apologies for not making it clear. I know my posts have had some grammar errors and mechanical errors. Please understand I am very busy in preparing my trip, but you have all shown such enthusiasm I did not want to wait to get started and I will do better in the future to paint a clearer picture.

You follow the hooded figure to a basement through an outside entrance between two old shacks. This part of Eastgate is very poor, and currently very empty.

The basement is dark and damp, but there is a slight glow up ahead. The amount of mold and debris make it clear that this basement must flood often during high tides and the rain season, luckily neither are due for a few months off.

Once you get to the bottom of the basement, the hooded figure is standing in the center of a small 10x10 room. Jiri is the last one in and is asked the close the door behind him. Once he does the hooded figure casts a spell and balls of light appear from her hands and dance about the room. The light doesn't do much to improve the setting, but at least you can see the rats and spiders.

You all did well, better than I expected honestly. Now then where do we begin? Well, no more need for this. Milax says as she removes her hood and clothing, and unbinds her tail and lets it stretch. I hate having to bind my tail.

She looks at everyone smiling. Ok, let's begin. As you have noticed the Precipice district is quarantined, and there is a Parade going on. This provides us with some unique opportunities. There is a rival group of individuals in Absalom that have made some moves against us. It is time to return the favor. Her smile hardens and becomes a sinister sneer.

I need one of you to act as a Foreign Dignitary lost and approach the sentries to the south. Puurrferably one of you that can speak a foreign language, but not so foreign that it is out of place. Tien would be best since it is known that they frequently get lost in our town and are very new to the city. Second I need one of you who can pretend to be the Lady or Lord's translator who can speak well and be convincing or intimidating. The two of you will approach the sentries to the south and insist that they help you get back to the coins and protect you from the rough neighborhood. More than likely the guard will send one or two of his men to escort you up Northwest through the Merchant's quarter. That is where you and two more of you that can fight will ambush them and steal their uniforms. Luckily the men pulling duty here are not very high up the hierarchy and probably have little to no magical support. Once inside, that will change though and we will encounter patrols with veteran fighters and experienced spell casters, possibly even some bounty hunters from Alkenstar looking to put their guns to use. That is why we need the uniforms first.

Who will these people be and do you have any questions?

...The Next day Milax finds you all in the morning and tells you to meet her in the Eastgate District.

"Seek out a dwarf smith named Seth Salt-Beard near Eastgate. Give him this copper piece and ask directions to the parade. Listen carefully to what he says and follow his directions. Be there no later than an hour past mid-day. I must find your friends now, I hope you have all discussed your roles in this. You must all travel alone to this meeting place, it would look too suspicious to have you all walking around together." Prepare to use Sense Motive to pick up on Seth's subtle clues and hints to the secret meeting place*If you do not have It consider using a Hero Point*

Milax listens intently to each of you. "Sounds like I have a good group... better than last time at least, Talk amongst yourselves a bit and enjoy the Crimson Coin. I will meet you here tomorrow evening to begin our plan. Beware that Tomorrow marks the first day of the Purrrimarch's feast. Though there be plenty of marks here in town, the Guards will be on the look out and they promised to make example out of anyone they catch. "

"I will let Milax cover the rest. I probably will not see you for a while, and you certainly will not see me, unless I want you too."Horner says with a smile and walks out of the storage room.

"Now we get down to business my bartending friend. Oh! your first job! Isn't it exciting? I wish I could go back to my first job, it was so fun! Ok, ok. Lets see. For this job I need someone that is good talking to people, Someone that is good taking things without being noticed, Someone that is good finding things, someone that can pretend to be someone else, someone good with knots, Oh and a few people that know how to fight! So who can do what?"

Last post for the night, think about what position for this heist you want to take.
Someone good talking to people=High Cha and or Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff
Someone good taking things=High Dex and or Sleight of Hand/Stealth
Someone good at finding things= High Wis and or Perception/Sense Motive/Survival
Someone that can pretend to be someone else= High Cha and or Disguise/Bluff
Someone good with knots= High Dex and or Escape Artist/Profession Sailor/Climb
Few People that know how to fight= High Str/Dex/Con and or BaB 1, AC>15 or simply not falling into the other categories.

"Bidding eh? Hmm I like you young one. I bid you cooperate with your new found friends and make me some money" There is a fiendish quality to Milax's grin, yet playful.

....After you sign your name and offer your small drop of blood to the page, a duplicate of the contract appears. "One for you, and one for me." Horner says with a sly grin. "You are now Knight-Errants. I shall introduce you to your Knight-Captain. You may come down now Milax." Horner says as he looks up.

Dropping down from a stack of supplies in the storage room under the Crimson Coin, Milax lands on her feet, as she always does.

"Purrfect. I look forward to working with you all. You may call me Milax, or Lady Black, which ever you purrfer." The dark furred female Catfolk introduces herself with a graceful bow.

You all start with 3/3 Hero Points. At the end of every chapter(which is when you level-aprox every 3-4 encounters) I will award Hero Points for the following- Best Roleplayer, Best Use of a Hero Point, and MVP(this category is chosen by the players, you can not vote for yourself and can be based on any criteria you see fit.)
