Milaniel's chant becomes mocking laughter. "Little mimic, all alone, hopes to find some yummy bones, now tastes instead the bite of pain - all its tricks are now in vain!" she singsongs, giggling as she watches it try to hide. Ending bardic performance - we can either mop this up or ignore it at our leisure, I think.

You all know of the existence of mimics, those trained in dungeoneering can attempt to remember more:

DC 15 Dungeoneering:
** spoiler omitted **

Not sure if Knowledge (undermountain) would qualify here, so bardic knowledge: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14.

Milaniel cackles for a moment, but the cackle suddenly shifts to a mournful cry, one that seems to echo with the sounds of doom for the mimic and bloody victory for her allies. Starting some inspire courage action.

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

Milaniel, having drifted back out of her skull and reformed into her usual humanoid appearance, looks vaguely wistful at the idea of food, and not nearly as shocked by the concept of eating "'ooman" as she should. "Indeed," she murmurs. "Time is wasting, and even I do not have as much of that as I would prefer..."

Saamasal Baarya wrote:
"Well then, who's going to keep watch?"

Milaniel smiles, showing teeth. Without a word, she drifts toward the skull that Grakl has been carrying; her form becomes smoky, and she seems to collapse into the brain cavity. As she does so, however, bright green flames ignite in the skull's eyes - flames that move and focus on Saamasal as though they were pupils.

"All of you will require physical rest soon," Milaniel says dryly, "and I will not recover my healing abilities without some time to relax in my former residence. If there is no one behind us at the moment, perhaps the hobgoblin's choice is the right one."

"Mm..." muses Milaniel. She glances toward the ceiling, concentrating. How about a little detect magic action?

"I am unconcerned," Milaniel says, smiling slightly. "All that a spear could do to me has long since been done."

If Milaniel possesses a sleeping creature, does it interrupt their rest?

Yuhm Yuhm looks up at the strange ceiling, perplexed.

"Sound stupid. Look stupid too."

Milaniel shrugs. "It is as I said."

"A peculiar arrangement awaits you beyond the door," the ghost says, looking amused. "A plain room, or so it seems at first, but a chest rests on the ceiling, and is surrounded by vicious-looking spears all around. It looks a trap to me, but I can't prove it." She chuckles. "No doubt one of you will find a way to find out... one way or the other."

Spoiler:
Milaniel frowns, drifting slowly up to the roof to examine the chest more closely. Perception 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25

Manifesting for a moment, she also casts mage hand to push on one or two of the spears, to see how firmly they appear to be attached to the ceiling.

"Someone's been quite naughty," she whispers to herself, smiling slightly, before slipping back through the door and returning to the others.

Milaniel steps slowly through the door.

You would estimate the mob of humans are maybe a minute or two behind you. With the exception of Milaniel, you are all wounded, tired and hungry.

Where too?

Rereading, it looks like I'm out of spells, yes?

Milaniel's eyes narrow. "It matters little which way we go, as long as we go quickly. That passage indicating B is as good as another, I suppose. I will go ahead, in case there are more... surprises."

You rang?

Milaniel's smile doesn't falter as the troll attacks. Instead, she steps into it, her form disappearing into the troll's body.

Using malevolence on the troll. Will save, DC 21, to resist.

Milaniel's smile is unsettlingly wide. "Oh, this one is mine," she hisses.

Move over to the troll's side.

GM:

Spoiler:
We'll wait then.

Milaniel ducks back through the floor of the elevator and races full speed back down the shaft.

Run action, if needed, to get back down the shaft in one turn.

"They will be here in about thirty seconds," she tells the others. "Ready yourselves."

Milaniel's going to wait for them to get down to about 30 ft above the bottom of the shaft before she screams at them, to maximize their period of effect (that is, the amount of time they will be panicking while we might be able to take advantage of it) without risking catching her allies in the zone again.

GM:

Spoiler:
Is there room off the side of the "elevator" for them to fall?

"Yes..." Milaniel smiles. "Let's put some fear into those who truly deserve it."

She will begin floating up the shaft toward the makeshift elevator.

"More are coming," Milaniel calls back. "We must push through the cube before they arrive, or find some way to lure it in here to distract our pursuers!" She looks at Yhum Yhum and Saamasal and appears genuinely abashed. "Forgive me, warriors. I... did not consider the effect I would have on you."

"You missed," Milaniel tells the rogue with a smile. She then slashes at him with her hand, before stepping back to clear the area.

Corrupting touch (1d20+4=14, damage 1d6=3)

Perception (sound-based) (1d20+15=17)

AoO on the rogue (1d20+4=21)
If that hits:
damage (1d6=2)

Milaniel flies after the rogue. Double move to L8.

Just realized your breath weapon can actually hit Milaniel. Woohoo!

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

what penalties will Grakl take for a full attack with his natural weapons?

Take a 5ft step and then
raking them down both the rogue and the fighter, (two-weapon fighting with natural weapons -4/-8)

Natural weapons don't take two-weapon penalties. Both attacks are primary, so they should be at your highest BAB.

Milaniel drifts over, til she is directly over the halfing. Leaning down, she whispers into his ear, "No, no, my friend, it will be so much funnier if you let them die with the lights out..."

Casting hideous laughter on the rogue. Will save DC 17 negates.

Trust me, it won't happen again! I just thought it would be worth it to do the first time. I was also hoping it would catch more of them than it did of us... the fighter made the save though! Dangit!

Corrupting touch (AoO) (1d20+4=5, damage 1d6=3)

The elven ghost swipes at the knight as he runs past, but is laughing too hard to do more than catch the air.

With a last cackle, Milaniel's mouth contorts unnaturally, jaw dropping like that of a snake, and she lets loose a howl that would strike fear into any hearer.

Frightful moan. Living creatures within 30 ft - which will catch a lot of the party, Milaniel's not too used to working with allies - must make a Will save, DC 17, or become panicked for 4 rounds.

Hm. The cleric is a problem.

Milaniel flickers back into visibility, directly in front of the priest. Her smile is not at all friendly.

I can't find any action listed on manifestation, so I'm assuming that the standard rule for supernatural actions applies, and it takes a standard action to use.

Confident - perhaps overconfident - of her invulnerability on the ethereal plane, Milaniel stands in the corner of the passage at I16. She begins humming a lament to herself, though no one is around to hear...

"You would prefer to meet them here?" Milaniel asks coldly. "Very well. Their deaths are inevitable regardless." She turns her glowing green eyes toward the passage, then fades away to nothingness.

Ending manifestation.

The ghost scowls at all of you equally. "My name in Milaniel, not 'Millie.' And yes, I would appreciate it if you would treat my skull with a touch more decorum, Grakl. It once held a number of things I valued highly." She glances around the chamber. "We should get moving before those guards find a way down here. They will be coming... it's what they do." She moves toward the exit and through it without slowing (or opening it).

Saamasal Baarya wrote:
*Looks at ghost* "If you even try to possess me, I shall insure your second death."

"I need you alive, psion, and if I have to possess you to ensure that, then thank your gods and smile when you do it."

...and here she is... numbers-wise, anyway.
