Milaniel's chant becomes mocking laughter. "Little mimic, all alone, hopes to find some yummy bones, now tastes instead the bite of pain - all its tricks are now in vain!" she singsongs, giggling as she watches it try to hide. Ending bardic performance - we can either mop this up or ignore it at our leisure, I think. Milaniel, having drifted back out of her skull and reformed into her usual humanoid appearance, looks vaguely wistful at the idea of food, and not nearly as shocked by the concept of eating "'ooman" as she should. "Indeed," she murmurs. "Time is wasting, and even I do not have as much of that as I would prefer..." Saamasal Baarya wrote: "Well then, who's going to keep watch?" Milaniel smiles, showing teeth. Without a word, she drifts toward the skull that Grakl has been carrying; her form becomes smoky, and she seems to collapse into the brain cavity. As she does so, however, bright green flames ignite in the skull's eyes - flames that move and focus on Saamasal as though they were pupils. "A peculiar arrangement awaits you beyond the door," the ghost says, looking amused. "A plain room, or so it seems at first, but a chest rests on the ceiling, and is surrounded by vicious-looking spears all around. It looks a trap to me, but I can't prove it." She chuckles. "No doubt one of you will find a way to find out... one way or the other." Spoiler:
Milaniel frowns, drifting slowly up to the roof to examine the chest more closely. Perception 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Manifesting for a moment, she also casts mage hand to push on one or two of the spears, to see how firmly they appear to be attached to the ceiling. "Someone's been quite naughty," she whispers to herself, smiling slightly, before slipping back through the door and returning to the others. Monty Haul wrote:
Rereading, it looks like I'm out of spells, yes? Milaniel's eyes narrow. "It matters little which way we go, as long as we go quickly. That passage indicating B is as good as another, I suppose. I will go ahead, in case there are more... surprises." GM:
Spoiler:
We'll wait then. Milaniel ducks back through the floor of the elevator and races full speed back down the shaft. Run action, if needed, to get back down the shaft in one turn. "They will be here in about thirty seconds," she tells the others. "Ready yourselves." Milaniel's going to wait for them to get down to about 30 ft above the bottom of the shaft before she screams at them, to maximize their period of effect (that is, the amount of time they will be panicking while we might be able to take advantage of it) without risking catching her allies in the zone again. Perception (sound-based) (1d20+15=17) AoO on the rogue (1d20+4=21)
Milaniel flies after the rogue. Double move to L8. Grakl Longtooth wrote:
Natural weapons don't take two-weapon penalties. Both attacks are primary, so they should be at your highest BAB. Milaniel drifts over, til she is directly over the halfing. Leaning down, she whispers into his ear, "No, no, my friend, it will be so much funnier if you let them die with the lights out..." Casting hideous laughter on the rogue. Will save DC 17 negates. Corrupting touch (AoO) (1d20+4=5, damage 1d6=3) The elven ghost swipes at the knight as he runs past, but is laughing too hard to do more than catch the air. With a last cackle, Milaniel's mouth contorts unnaturally, jaw dropping like that of a snake, and she lets loose a howl that would strike fear into any hearer. Frightful moan. Living creatures within 30 ft - which will catch a lot of the party, Milaniel's not too used to working with allies - must make a Will save, DC 17, or become panicked for 4 rounds. The ghost scowls at all of you equally. "My name in Milaniel, not 'Millie.' And yes, I would appreciate it if you would treat my skull with a touch more decorum, Grakl. It once held a number of things I valued highly." She glances around the chamber. "We should get moving before those guards find a way down here. They will be coming... it's what they do." She moves toward the exit and through it without slowing (or opening it). |
