Normally, you must use Acrobatics to tumble or use Overrun to go through an enemy square. But what if you're Invisible? (and the enemy is unaware of you being there invisible to being with) Can you move through them normally?
Now what happens if it tries to move through your space without any knowledge of you being there? Does it just stop and automatically bump into the invisible creature? Or does it pass freely?
Had this problem come up when one of my players, invisible, was trying to move past a Large Ogre Zombie in his way. The argument was he should've been able to walk through, but no ruling says that. We kinda had to go with the Acrobatics check. Then the zombie, unaware, was time to move and it needed to move through the square he was occupying, leading to the next dilemma.
Any thoughts?
I played through this myself recently. Although there were some things that added variables.
1) The individual moving invisibly through squares was an invisible Tiny creature (a Kitsune in fox form) and the threatened? squares were occupied by Medium creatures (mostly humans)
2) The Kitsune was an acrobat of no small skill.
3) Invisible Kitsune RULE!!!
4) Really good stealth on the Kitsune's part.
The GM ruled that due to size differences, stealth of the character, and invisibility that no roll was required.
Just my 2cp, not that it's even relevant.

I think this rocks. I think it deserves its own crunch. I would change Craft: Drawing to Craft: Tattooing to reflect the unique differences between pencil/paper drawing and inking a person's body. Tattooing would allow for drawing on paper/pencil but not vice versa. My logic there is that if you've ever watched a tattoo artist work, they draw the art first on paper, then on the transfer to the body. This is just my heavily tattooed self speaking and you may disregard that.
Overall, I love this mechanic. I think it's well written and I really wouldn't change anything except as above.
It's balanced by the fact that armor prevents touching to activate. It's balanced by charges.
It's balanced by skill required.

It deals with racial hit dice, level progression in monster classes, etc. If not, well, it sounds like you're definitely off to a good start. Yes I do, and I like it very much (had someone play a Centaur with it). But, you still get back to the problem of Racial Hit Dice <> Class Hit Dice (unless that class is an NPC class). That's one of the things that Paizo tried to address (with the limited) rules in the Bestiary, that racial hit dice <> class levels.
For that matter, a lot of people have the idea that you should instead of allowing class levels, force a monster PC to take a few NPC levels here and there to balance them out, which just reinforces the idea that racial hit dice <> class hit dice.
To me, I'd rather replace the racial hit dice with class levels directly by treating the monster in the book as the typical NPC Farmer Human, what he got from just being alive in an NPC Commoner class. I think that's a cleaner and easier replacement than just about anything I've seen so far, but obviously I'm willing to listen. This also works with the Monstrous Race levels from Savage Species. Any level where they would get an actual hit dice, replace it with a class level, but still give them their race abilities for that level. They'll still hit a level eventually that doesn't give them a racial hit dice (if they need the adjustment), but in the end be a lot more even with the other PC's (IMHO). *ponders* In all honesty, I've never come up with a REALLY solid answer to this without resorting to LA and ECL adjustments. As I am very in line with those NOT being a part of the game any longer, it is a conundrum.
In all honesty, I would probably just allow some intermingling of racial HD with class HD, possibly using a difference in the experience advancement between monstrous and non-monstrous PC's in the same group. (ie Core races use Fast advancement while Monstrous use Medium or similar) While this isn't an LA or ECL change, it would help to moderate advancement while allowing for gameflow and ease of use.
I really like the Savage Species rules, and I wish we'd had it when writing up my Centaur. We didn't, so we used resources in Dragon magazine and some OGL stuff to cobble one together.
May you live long and prosper on this thread, and thank you for being reasonable and mature about it. This is exactly the kind of 'monster PC thread' I've been looking for, and I wish I had more to contribute.

Rather open-ended, I like it.
I forgot to mention one last one:
True Neutral/Unaligned: The party would be working for an Organization who goes by "shadow guild" or "double strike" as well as many other names. Working for a mysterious demigod known only as the shadow god, who is gathering followers and worshipers and powerful items, the organization has found a way to create clever duplicates of willing subjects - dopplegangers that can imitate someone with unerring accuracy, down to their very memories. (this organization made their appearance in the intro adventure I ran them through the last time) The organization would of course be asking the players to become full-fledged members of the group, and would send them up against far tougher challenges, knowing that even death isn't much of an obstacle.
And to my fellow Chelaxian above, yes, I'd play a CE group if I wasn't the DM and that was the option. I tried to come up with something I'd want to play. :) This sounds AWESOME!!!!
Not much input, but wanted to give this +1,000

In my return to gaming with my Beloved Spouse (Kobold Chorus: "We love you!"), death became a matter of fact in very short order for our party. It was Important. It was Real. And it was definitely something to fear. This was before PFRPG, so there were no negative levels, you just LOST a level if you were brought back. Erase it from the sheet, refactor your stuff, it's GONE.
The party was comprised of two Paladins, a Rogue/Ranger, and a Sorcerer. They became known, over time, as Hildebraun's Revenants. For the longest time, the Main Character (Hildebraun) was the only one who had NOT been raised.
This was well AFTER Hildebraun's Really Bad Month, wherein anyone and everyone she grouped with died. Most of them horrifically. We're talking 'red-shirt bad' deaths. They weren't raised. I'm pretty sure the count of these would be somewhere between 5 and 12. Dead, no zappy bringing back, they're all dead Dave.
Then we start getting a bit more butch and/or lucky.
Corrian, the Sorcerer, actually died on Hildebraun's first adventure (being the second of her companions to buy the proverbial farm) and was animated as a Skeleton by the Evil High Priest. Many adventures later - in the Tomb of Absathor - Hildebraun encountered Undead Corrian and put him down. Then, with a Staff of Life, brought him back. (Yes, that's Ressurection, not Raise Dead, but I figured it relevant)
Bannor (the other Paladin) was raised early on by the fact that a town cleric had a scroll of Raise Dead. As it was, we had to race across country at breakneck speeds to get to said cleric before the body went gamey. This was the first person to return from the Beyond, and was Just Blind Pure Luck because the Good High Priest (who died horribly and refused to be raised) insisted we keep her only scroll of Raise Dead.
Vola, the Rogue/Ranger, died much later in the group's career, while running through Clydewell Keep in "Demon Within". Foot was chopped off and preserved, the rest was cremated, and the foot goes back to the rest of the party. Who have the Staff of Life. Zap, pow, done.
These were the partys' first deaths. Some had more, some had only the above, but they started calling themselves the Revenants nonetheless. Hildebraun bought it once too. Staff of Life, zap zap... dead less than an hour. Body hadn't even cooled.
Do these experiences cheapen the impact death has on a party? No. Death really sucked. Each of them would be at least one level higher if not for death. But it also provided a bonding experience that nothing else would have. Hildebraun didn't figure out that she actually loved Vola until after she'd lost her. (Revelation came while she was sleeping in the arms of a Nymph while riding back to have Vola ressurected...thus the only reason Hildebraun didn't get compelled to stay with the Nymph forever and ever)
Corrian came back incredibly changed, as he'd been dead the longest and had already started the process to become a petitioner.
Vola went to the Beastlands, and it wasn't terribly traumatic. When she came back, she found that Hildebraun had some new notions of what each meant to the other. Very fluffy RP, but cool.
What threatens a level 20 character? The spell's called "Imprisonment" and it sucks the big one. There are things worse than death, and that should, in my opinion, always be true. Trap the Soul, Imprisonment, Temporal Stasis (though I think that's a voluntary only spell, can't be bothered to check), that sort of thing should be the fear into epics.
The other thing that I feel should be addressed is.. What happens after you die? Where does the soul go? How? How fast? What then? Those are the building blocks for good RP and a continuation of a character's experiences. I'd love to see a TPK turn into the actual BEGINNING of a game just once. "Ok, you all failed that DC 40 Fort save. You're dead. You each wake up in Ysgard, and there's Odin giving you this odd look. What do you do?"
Death shouldn't be the end, no matter of cost and circumstances. It's a matter of good RP, good players and a good GM. The important thing is the fun.

In addition, you gain an extra language at known at 1st level (if you are already above first level, you gain an additional language the next time you level). Also, for every two full ranks you place in Linguistics you gain an additional language known, giving you three languages for every two ranks you put into Linguistics.

This is not a troll post. My GM really wasn't expecting me to bite it like this. This was the character's prologue, basically, to joining the larger ensemble cast of our game. I and my Beloved Spouse (Kobold Chorus: "We love you!") were both actually very fond of this little ballsy goblin chick. Perhaps a bit more backstory to explicate:
The 'main cast' is over 80 miles away, no chance of them intervening as they don't even know that this character EXISTS, let alone that she may have been fated to join their ranks.
Wicker/Wooden cage.
Goblin in question has a CON of 10, 8 hit points, if I'm not mistaken, no bonuses. And a STR of 3 (that -4 penalty's a bear, lemme tell ya, though I used STR as the dumpstat for RP reasons). She is, therefore, a bit of a professional coward. (That's what animal companions are for!)
She has no ranks in Acrobatics, no ranks in Climb and no ranks in Intimidate (with a CHA of 10 to boot)
The backstory to the captivity is that this group of Druids have gone a bit ... rogue. She didn't know this before wandering into their sanctum santorium. These Druids have started worshipping the Goddess of the Moon, on a planet that didn't HAVE a moon until VERY recently.
Therefore, they're ... um.... lunatics. They're sacrificing her as an "Unwilling Believer" after trying to convince her to join their little cult.
The character is one of those "I believe in what I have control over" kinda people, and thus isn't very big on Deities and Powers. The Druids of this world just finished fighting a Druid vs Druid war which factionalized a lot of Druids. One faction - that this goblin sort of sided with - was the "All Outsiders Are Bad And Who Needs Them Anyway" faction. This includes Deities, Devils, Demons, Native Outsiders, Etc...
Therefore, they tried their recruiting pitch, she gave them a piece of her mind and they drugged her and hung her out to dry.
Before her untimely end, she tried to summon a Mite using Summon Nature's Ally I. This was accomplished by some hand-waving of the focus item, my GM allowed me to substitute a single HP of damage in blood for the normal component. The Mite failed and fell to its death, though it had no chance to make it down the tree during the spell duration.
The fall is very uneventful and there is nothing to break the impact at the bottom (as evidenced by the Mite's untimely end.... she summoned the poor critter during the day and it was blind for its entire very short spell duration/remaining lifespan)
The -4 penalty to Climb dissuaded her from even TRYING to climb down. (She had a traumatic experience when younger, falling and nearly dying)
Charming an animal was out of range, and all animals that were allowed in range were already charmed. (Mostly squirrels to drop nuts in so she wouldn't starve)
There are 5 druids, lowest level is 2, the highest is of unknown level but has levels in Cleric too and definitely can Wildshape. There are also 5 Worgs guarding the grove. This, combined with the 'naked and STR of 3' would seem to lead to the status of YRFN.
The three Druids she's actually had face time with were an Elf, a Half-Orc and a Halfling. In this world, Halflings do have Darkvision, so they'd be able to see me at night.
There's no nearby stream or river, just flat ground covered with grass and maybe a tiny bit of underbrush.
We're only using base spells from PFRPG core.
All people she knows are well out of range for a charmed animal, and no animals around to charm.
The distance from cage to tree trunk is not a variable I thought to ask, so I can't provide that.
There were no real bushes of berries, holly, mistletoe or the like within reach of myself or anything I could summon.
The GM did (kinda) offer some Deus Ex Machina, but I actually declined. I'm rather opposed to the idea of "Timely Rescue By The Knight-in-Shining Armor") While I liked the character and was just starting to get the feel for her, a contrived little rescue just struck me as that... contrived. She gave me several days both in and out of character to stew on it and think it over, which I think was more than fair.
I was the one that decided the goblin would rather die than allow herself to be sacrificed. This was an IC thing, as that whole "Outsiders are bad" thing kicked in and I felt that the goblin's sacrifice would provide some sort of spiritual traction from the power gained from her death. (Which is long winded for "Yer never gonna take me alive, copper!")
At this point, I think the winner so far is Shadowlord. You get a gold star!!!
Please keep the ideas coming, this has been a fascinating hypothetical experience and is helping me learn to think further outside the box. er... cage.

So I had a predicament, and I could not - for the life of me - resolve it. The situation is already past jacta alea est, and now that it's behind me I'm rather curious how others may have resolved it.
Situation is as follows:
1st level Goblin Druid. Naked and without any gear of any kind. In a cage that is suspended at least fifty feet off the ground on a tree limb. The cage is lashed to the branch of a tree by a single loop. (The cage was secured by some other druids of a higher level who could FLY... *mutterfume*) Her animal companion is captive... somewhere. QED, unable to assist.
With six days to ponder her fate, knowing that at the new moon she would be sacrificed in a ritual manner with no chance of reasoning with her captors, she has the following resources at her disposal.
Her spells (appropriate for a druid with a WIS of 17, with the bonus spells that entails) but only ones that do not require material components, her brains, teeth and nails (mundane and not even really all that pointy) and the ignorance of her captors as she is out of their line of sight.
I declared a moratorium on Deus Ex Machina rescues, even though I really like the character. So, she's got to do this on her own.
So, how would YOU get out?
For the record, what actually happened was that as the clock wound down, and they were coming for her, she lit her cage ablaze and fell to her rather messy demise rather than let herself be sacrificed.

I was so eagerly awaiting my shipment of the Bestiary that I set my mail account to forward all mail from Paizo to my phone as a text.
So, just as I'm walking away from the messageboards, taking a drink and heading back to bed... my phone chirrups happily.
A package containing 1 item from Paizo Order #1241199 is expected to ship from the Paizo warehouse by Wednesday, October 14 via Standard Postal Delivery, estimated 4 to 8 business days in transit.
My PDF is unlocked, my book is en route, and Paizo has made one very sick woman (who is home with the flu, trying desperately to find the proper balance of codeine coma and eagerness for new book) very happy.
Thank you Paizo, for proving yourselves:
a) Incredible
b) Awesome
c) Sadistic (Seriously, JUST as I was returning to bed)
d) All of the above

That said, I'd like to confirm explicitly what is meant here. (I'm a pedant, my apologies) Tuesday being, in this case, Tuesday, 13Oct09. I've not yet gotten my pre-ship notification email, though I understand several to many others have. I'm going to hypothesize that orders are shipped FIFO (First In, First Out) in response to orders?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Just checking in on something. Yesterday, the tap on my bank account showed the purchase price for my subscription copy of the Bestiary. In reading upthread, my understanding is that it's still expected 'mid-October'. I have always loved doing business with Paizo directly, and this was highlighted prominently with my Amazon order for the Core book.
But this is, to be honest, slightly unusual behaviour for Paizo. Being charged for something over a week in advance of its shipping expectation?
Could someone let me know if the pending charge on my WaMu is just a pending charge to verify I have cash on hand, or if I'm going to be actually charged well in advance of ship?
Sorry if this is on the wrong thread.
Cheers!
M
*EDIT* I just also noticed, after clicking post, that this has generated order #1241199. I'm still a tiny bit new to this, but I think that order numbers only generate when they start the push to ship?
I finally received my hard copy, but have already devoured the PDF many times over. I appreciate Paizo for providing the PDF free with the subscription, as I can grab a copy and read at my most common places of computing joy.
This is a masterwork of horror, tension, beauty and schadenfreude. I can not wait until I am able to inflict this upon my most beloved spouse.

Rogue represents a greater range of abilities, skill sets, traits, etc. It can as easily stand for someone who Bluffs, Intimidates and otherwise uses non-'thief' skills to accomplish their goals as it does someone who Opens Locks, Picks Pockets and Disables Devices.
Rogues are multi-dimensional and the word represents that well in my opinion.
I can, as I stated in the beginning, see both sides of the coin. Perhaps something less easily typoed would be nice, though.

Nameity,
I have one problem with your offer.
You say:
I've upgraded the method of shipment for this order to One-Day Shipping to help make up for the delay. There's no additional charge for this.
But then on my order page, it shows:
Amazon Prime: One-Day Shipping is $3.99 per item
And:
Item(s) Subtotal: $31.49
Shipping & Handling: $3.99
-----
Total Before Tax: $35.48
Estimated Tax: $0.00
-----
Grand Total: $35.48
Had I wanted to pay $3.99 for shipping, I would have upgraded it myself. If you would like to offer me a 'courtesy' please feel free to actually correct my order. I would LOVE to receive my order on the 25th, but not if it means paying more and being told I'm paying the same.
I apologize for the tone of my email, but having already become disillusioned with your company's handling of this order in the first place, your further 'assistance' is rather akin to a slap in the face.
Thanks in advance,

Not sure whether this or something similar has been posted, but search is still how search is so I'm just going to post my two cents. If it has, just ignore/delete it and we'll move on.
My wife and I both *LOVE* Paizo products, materials and the store. But the forums, well, they're not the best. She goes to ENWorld, and I just kinda bounce along with whatever I find by chance or circumstance. The forum layout just seems unintuitive and it's very difficult to follow threads. I understand search will soon be restored, but that's also a bit difficult to use.
Streamlining the forums, IMO, is a good idea. Adding full threading support while maintaining the rest of the current (tres awesome) features would be wonderful. And I would love you all forever and ever. Not that I don't already
