While this is MUCH needed I am disappointed it is following the crap we got with 2nd Edition.

Starfidner was something I wanted to love and play all the time. The more and more time passed the less and less I even wanted to try. Most of the best feats are still in the Core rulebook. Too many of the feats abilities are so situational or they are 1 time use till you need to take a 10 min rest just made it very difficult to get motivated to play. I have a nanocyte an if the make the save against my knack then I can't use them on the enemy again till I take a 10 minute rest. So I never get to use them. It's just not fun and like why even take this ability?

Second Edition Pathfinder is atrocious overall. The best thing about it the Action economy. This is what is needed its simple and to the point. But then we look at the feats an OMG too many feats. So much to keep up with. You have skill feats, general feats, class feats ancestry feats. It becomes a nightmare trying to remember it all. Especially if you don't play regularly. I do love all the customization but it really is way to much. Do away with the skill feats. Most of them are situational and all. It really is a lot of things to keep up with. I have to be the right proficiency then the right feats for the right situation.

I was hoping they would have fixed Auto fire but they didn't. Huge disappoint. Please understand that this is not how automatic fire works all the time or even at all. Hollywood clearly gets it wrong. I can fire full auto and point it at one thing and should be able to. It is an easy fix. You give a boost of damage. Then give a penalty to not fire it in a cone. Each round of full auto increases damage and the penalty. Then you could go so far as to incorporate the concept of overheating weapon. So it can be fired for x amount of rounds. I just want to be able to full auto fire into 1 target not a whole group of targets. WHICH IS TOTALLY POSSIBLE. You gave and archetype to do this but it was mediocre. Our GM always just had it drop prone then stand back up. PLEASE PAIZO fix this. You then give each gun with auto fire a value of how many bullets are fire per round while in automatic.

Ex.
I have an automatic gun that holds 100 rounds. While in auto mode each action (3 actions to use this mode) it fires 20 rounds.
Full auto action is a 3 action activity. You fire full auto at one target you expend the full auto usage each time you take this action. You take a -1 penalty to the attack. Multiple attack penalty doesn't apply to this attack (obviously). Add one additional die of damage (x if the weapon deals 1d8 you add another d8). For every consecutive round you you use this activity you increase the penalty by 1 and the damage by 1 die of damage. After 3 rounds the weapon overheats and when done firing, can't before for a round. If more than 3 rounds is used it become inoperable for 2 rounds. Of course the numbers can be tweaked. Maybe just do extra d6 of damage. I just want something like this that is meaningful.

We struggled for a while to get 2E on the table and now it is a dead game to us. We ultimately reverted back to 1E. There is just too many feats, I don't who thought this was a good idea. But it is simply just terrible. I like the class design. Problem is Paizo has this thing of making certain choices better than others and some options are never chosen because they are just bad.

Wow, lets double the price of the the rule books PDF. I already struggle to get any more Paizo product on the table anymore. I was really excited with 2E and then saw the disappointment it has become. Too many balancing issues, another topic for another time.

Also I have found that the pdf's tend to be subpar. Several of the Starfinder core books have an issue with the way the inside book (the solar system) pages are. Its a single image and therefore a problem for the rest fo the page. Half of the time I can't even copy all of the text because of formatting. Then there is the issue of all the 'f' being omitted anytime I copy an pasted.

Or when I buy the character sheet pack pdf with issues and then basically told we won't fix the issue.

Not to mention you cannot print Starfinder character sheets on a Mac or iOS devices. this is really disappointing.

Starfinder has been dead with our group to to majority of the best feats still in the core rule book. Overall disappointing. Why buy the pdf when I can buy the pocket edition for the same price.

I have been trying to push this but with the price hike this basically just made it that much harder to sell. Especially with basic editing errors. Very disappointing this is.

This price increase will only be acceptable if the quality and lack of mistakes go down. Simple misspelling of words is really unacceptable. Spell checker does exist. I understand copy and paste but there need to be a BETTER quality control. When it states you need a bachelors to be an editor and this is what we get. Contradictions and ambiguous text is just plain lazy. Give an example, so many other systems do so. I need justification to pay more. I understand inflation but why am I having to pay more for the same sub par quality?

Just my 2 sense. I have tried promoting and getting the product out there but this makes it harder. Just saying.

I'm not overly interested in forcing pf2e to mirror 1e when introducing classes. I'll leave you to that

Im fine with that. It shouldn't mirror 100% but should have similar concepts/roles. Completely changing it to something else I feel is not right and would be a disaster. I mean Microsoft did that with Windows 8.

2E did that as a whole and I feel it was a mistake. We are taking a system people are used to an have known for 10+ years and then just drastically changing it to something completely new.

That was one thing I liked about PF1 Kineticist, was the versatility and felt it captured the essence of what each element should be,

It's easily to notice when the most people say "What we need to have a stronger and with better action economy Kineticist? Do you need Burn? So just put Burn into it! We just want the Kineticist stronger as they are PF1".

No one really have love for Burn here. What most people wants is a solution.

..I love burn

My favorite rpg mechanic is hp for power.

Sure there are SOME people that liked burn, but don't conflate people saying they liked the PF1 Kineticist with them saying they love PF2 burn. Myself I loved the class but could never play it for long because I just hated burn so much [and the no burn archetype was SO, SO bad].

That is typical Paizo design though We put out multiple options but there is always that one option that is significantly better than all the other options. And we get more added options that so horrible they are borderline non playable. I already see that with 2E. I see in Starfinder more than anything. And it is beyond annoying and then trying to GM with that is a huge turn off. Its like The Operative, all I see are ghost because it is still by far the best option.

I’m new to running and I have been running it for now as a day to day AP. They spend a few days working toward the the main story and may spend 2-4 days promoting and doing downtime activities to promote the circus, crafting etc.

Was excited when I saw the article. As soon as I saw a $2.99 price tag, instantly turned off.

If this has any connection to Lone Wolf, then I will never look to support anything. After the online price gouging. I hope none of these apps ever go to a subscription model.

As of now I don’t see $2.99 is definitely overpriced. $0.99 and I would buy for sure. I think that it is a much better price point.

For now I will continue to use my homemade app for this.

Its things like this that is making Society more and more unappealing. You keep making all of the changes. When you introduced Second Edition, you changed the whole system from first Edition. It was a step. We are what a year into Second Edition and you want to change again.

This is becoming really frustrating, that NOW I HAVE TO CHANGE AGAIN. Seriously get things in order, I am already having a hard time keeping people interested and showing up to play.

Now as a cleric I have to do MORE BOOKKEEPING, this is counter productive and complete nonsense. Now I have to buy the material, then I have to have my character pay gold to learn a spell from my character. This is more bookkeeping that is not needed. I just want to play the game and do little book keeping. If I have to pay for the spells, I have no incentive to go out and buy and new books and support the system. If I can't buy a source and use a spell with my character that is common because I have to learn it. I have no incentive and very little care to do all of the book keeping.

Unacceptable.

Ah, I see. We were just talking past one another. (I thought you meant something different by "free".)

As I noted above, I completely agree that it's too bad the HQ ship rules don't allow you to construct a HQ ship at lower levels!

Micheal Smith wrote:
What about crew for these HQ ships? We just say you have the required people to do so? Why would they? Do it for free? Seems like a way to just get around the rules to give the players something for free. You need a min of 20 crew for Bulk Freighter. 75 for Carrier.
Technically, the HQ ship rules reduce the minimum crew to 4. But your point still holds - the rules seem to assume that you have at least 4 NPC lackeys (who man the HQ ship during combat), or that during combat you power down the HQ ship or leave it on autopilot or something.

Glad to see us on the same page or getting there.

Any further information on squadron rules. We have a few people in our party that want our own starfighter ships and fly around the main ship. Problem is not enough build points to manage all of it yet.

If the PCs are going to form a squadron, there's a conversion chart for what tier the individual ships should be. (For example, if there are 4 PCs with individual ships, each PC should get a (average party level-3) tier ship, and so would have that many BP to construct their individual ships.)

There are a couple of new systems available when building squadron ships. For example, as I mentioned in an earlier post, squadron ships have the option of having each ship equiped with a unification matrix, which allows the squadron ships to merge together into a single higher tier ship.

The squadron rules also include the option of providing the squadron with an HQ ship (for no extra cost). The HQ ship effective tier is the same as the APL, but it uses special build rules. It gets only 25% of the usual BP; the cost of the ship's frame, and the cost of hanger bays and shuttle bay expansions bays is only 10% the normal cost; it has a minumum crew of 4, and only has one weapon mount -- a single turret with a light weapon.

Finally, squadrons have some new squad-specific stunts and crew actions available, in addition to the usual stunts and crew actions. So lots of fun stuff to play around with!

OMG I can't wait for my book to ship. That sounds exactly what we want and need. The more I see what is in this book the more I need this in my life. I can't wait to see all of the new options, armors, weapons, expansion bays. WHY HASN'T MY BOOK SHIPPED. The wait is killing me.

Thanks again Porridge. You are a saint.

For purposes of customer service, sure. But a huge portion of the value I've found in Pathfinder over the decade plus comes from the community, discussing rules, interaction, adventures, and gaming in general. Shifting to FaceSpaceMyBookTwitPintSnap or whatever this week's unfocused narcissism platform is wouldn't provide the benefits, while still having all the downfalls, and more.

I guess it wasn’t clear enough. Only for the purpose of customer service. Everything else is fine. Maybe need a better forum Managment system.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Do away with the public forum concept. Just a horrible idea on so many levels. Implement a simple form that has an issue field. Once user submits it is assigned a number that both Paizo and the customer see, This is then sent to am email solely dedicated for resolving issues. Have multiple folders for each issue. As they are completed/resolved archive them. This will help make things so much easier to manage.

Look to investing into VOIP or similar technology. This fixes the I am working at home issue. Should have already had this in placed. Or invest into company phones like iPhones, these are used for work related only. Adopting this concept is how things are going. Especially for things like this. Allows people to work from home if they are sick or unable to get to work.

Everyone should be aiding in helping CS. Stop all projects till things are more manageable. Not getting these things fix is going to cost money. Shipments getting returned etc. Unless you choose to charge for shipping again because that isn’t fair to the customer. If I have to pay for shipping again on either of my shipments, then I will be done dealing with Paizo all together. I shouldn’t have to pay extra because they failed to handle their business.

This isn’t a hard job nor should it be this difficult to manage. This is truly unacceptable and needs to be fixed now. Not tomorrow, but today. There is no excuse for being so far behind. IO fail to see how they are SO FAR behind. If an issue needs to update their order this should take no more than 2-3 minutes. Pull up the order then update it. Simple.

The warehouse should, for now, check all orders against the site. Search the forums for the order number and the email. Then fix the issue. Yes this will cause delays in shipping but will cut down on issues and help out. Not sure how the forums are handled on the back end to tell where they left off or anything.

Invest in to a better system just in general. IT will help out so much.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I get an email stating that this was returned. Well if your system wasn’t broken it would have shipped correctly. My address hasn’t changed since I updated it. I have had other packages delivered to this address. This will be now the second shipment that will be returned because of issues with your website/poor customer service.

I hope that I don’t get charged for shipping on either package because this was clearly your fault. Now I have to wait till my July shipment ships out to have this fixed. This is becoming very frustrating with the poor customer service. It is becoming very difficult to support you all when you can’t get a simple issue resolved in a timely manner.

It is clear your staff is overworked. You need to step back on future development and fix what is already out. It is clear that they easy you handle requests on these forums is clearly broken. Something needs to be fixed and ASAP.

As much as I enjoy your products the support and customer service make it hard to want to support. I play Society and having to wait months after a product comes out is ridiculous. The lack of FAQ support on your poorly worded abilities/text is unacceptable. Work on quality and not quantity. An issue you severely had with 1st edition and the stupid companion concept. Please fix these issues ASAP.

With the release of the COM and alternate racial abilities for the core and legacy races I had an idea. What if every Alien Archive they added in a section for 3-5 playable races and add more player options. Then this could even get better. For a month they could have a simple survey to ask what 3-5 races people want to see. Tally all of this up and go with the most popular choices. Then in the next archive have a page per playable race with new option, feats, spells, class options equipment, etc.

That is on my wishlist.

Even for a Warpriest I still view having a pretty good WIS is good. If not for spell casting but for medicine. Especially with magical healing not nearly there like in 1e. Treat deadly wounds is an amazing skill. Then investing in to all the feats in the Medicine Skill is great. Ward Medic is great for outside healing. The ability to treat multiple people at once can help significantly. Then continual healing is another great feat, only being immune to treat deadly wounds for 10 minutes vs and hour. So you use Divine Font in combat to keep everyone in the fight long enough to win, then Treat deadly wounds afterwards.

Then for one of the best feat, IMHO, is Godless healing. So you can't have a patron deity to get but being able to immune to Battle medicine for only and hour vs a whole day is great. It also gives and additional 5 hit points when Treat Deadly wounds and Battle medicine have been used on you. So having a decent to high wis for a warpriest would be beneficial. Then have a decent cha for emergency uses of Heal. Both stats are very valuable to the Cleric.

I have to agree the shield mechanic does feel rushed. Much better than the playtest. But I feel that 2E was rushed way to fast. So many issues with Society already, unacceptable. Another topic though.

I feel shields are very disappointing. And can maybe reliably take a couple of hits if that. Again I don't know the numbers yet. I just feel they could be better. I don't how but I feel right now they are lack luster.

Companion system based on feats, interesting. I have been waiting for this. Was kind of hoping for a class that specialized in this, but I think I like this even more.

Why can’t my books ship yet. The wait is killing me.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So I made an error.
Heal is 6d8 not 6d6 also with healing hands it become 6d10. Now factor in Communal healing, I would regain 6 hit points plus that of Angelic Halo for 18 HPs. Then if I have improved communal healing I can target another person instead.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I already built up a divine sorcerer that dipped into cleric. I pick up healing hands, communal healing and selective energy.

With Angelic Halo and the greater staff of healing and healers blessing, you get some nice healing synergy.

at 11th level looking like this:
Healers Blessing: +11
Angelic Halo:: + 12
Staff of Greater healing + 2
Heal: 6d6 (Signature spell 1 action)

if you can wait till next round:
Heal: 6d6 + 73 (48 heal + rest referenced above)

Assuming I am correct in my heightening math and everything else stacks. Thats pretty darn good healing especially for a sorcerer.

All the swashbucklers we played with wrecked the table. I crit, I parry but didn’t have to crit to parry the attack. Now anything that couldn’t be hit with precision was a problem but being able get that was decent in damage. Having only needed Dex and Charisma, charmed life was popwerful. Getting the panache points back wasn’t do difficult. Crappy AC? The 3 I saw had great AC, decent Fort. Charmed life made up. They did great damage I parry this and this and this. I crit I killed the creature, regain panache etc.

Def do not see what you all see.

We had investigators that would out pace other class when it came to skills. They made figuring things out almost with out having to roll. We had several that could roll 1’s on the d20 and the d6 and still have close if not higher then some of the other skilled classes.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Dwarf fighter or barbarian with toughness and Mountain’s Stoutness. You get to add your level in HPs 2 times on top of the already high hit points from the classes and if you have a high con that helps. Then the recovery save is reduced by 4.

You could even take diehard and make it dying 5 instead of 4 and be one tough dwarf.

With the barbarian, you could take renewed vigor keep getting temp hit points (assuming they are gone before you go again) and make it more difficult to kill.=

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Not at all happy with the Swashbuckler and Investigator. These were defiantly 2 of the most OP classes they had. In 1st edition I didn’t allow them in any of my companions.

The investigator made the rest of the party look incredibly dumb in Society play especially with the Mind Chemist archetype. I never allowed any of the hybrid classes be able to multi class with their parent classes.

I am looking forward to the archetypes and new ancestries. I really want a Dhampir. I finally got 1 in 1st edition and have very little to play. Even with replays.

Aasimar and Tieflings were both freely available for a while...I don't remember some large event suddenly wiping out their entire populations to explain them no longer being available.

The Tien races, yep...before I started doing PFS, but I've heard about the society wide goals that were met to unlock them and such.

The elemental races have been 'featured' races for like 4 seasons now...all the major plane hopping has only really been going on for 2 seasons hasn't it? I started PFS at the beginning of season 8, seems like seasons 9 and 10 have been the heavy elemental planes focused scenarios.

The Pathfinders don't just recruit in their downtime...they recruit in the middle of a mission sometimes. :)

The whole boon restriction thing for uncommon races has always been one of the things that annoyed me about PFS. When I first was introduced to organized play, the very first thing I asked was "Can I play a Catfolk Rogue"...which I was disappointed to learn I could not, and likely would never be able to (At that point, the only Catfolk boon in existence was from a charity auction which happened prior to my joining). In fact, the race restrictions in Starfinder Society completely killed my enthusiasm for the game when I learned you would not be able to play any of the "Legacy" races without having to play a 'Core' race through specific adventures to unlock them. (That restriction has finally been lifted, so I may give it another chance)

Not everyone has the ability to go to large scale conventions and GM for most of a weekend. On the rare occasion that I am able to even attend something like GenCon, I don't get to play, let alone GM anything.

I understand to a degree on the restrictions. I agree with the large scale convention comment. I myself despise the concept of convention exclusives, for any game. This is punishing to people that CAN’T make it. Especially because of financial reasons, I probably will never be able to attend Gencon and thus can’t get those boons. I saw a boon I wanted on the trading list, and wanted to trade. This guy had 20+ boons. I had one on his high priority list. So I made and offer for the trade. He came back an said no because it will be in the RSP in a few months. Really, people are greedy and when you have that many boons and to pull that. I about decided to stop supporting Paizo all together. And other issue with the Society around me. I finally got my Dhampir and one of the possible Archetypes I want to play prob won’t be legal for another 6+ months. Assuming I can still play any scenarios to level him up.

So I base 98% of everything I buy from Paizo on the AR document. If something isn’t legal I don’t care because I only play Society, just not enough support for me to do a home campaign. It sucks but it happens. I have been waiting on the Blood of the Ancients, for what seems like an eterinity.

I get that 2nd edition is a HUGE project, but it shouldn’t take from something that has been in place for YEARS. I think Paizo screwed themselves with Society and the amount of crap they put out. They out so much crap out, most is subpar or never touched again that they make us wait 3+ months to get everything legal. The quantity vs quality is absurd. I hope second edition IS better with this.

My biggest issue right now is similar to that of Microsoft. Let’s look at Windows 7 - Windows 8. We take the most used OS in the world and completely change what the users are familiar with. It’s a huge gamble that doesn’t always pay out. I understand the want to break from the 3.5 model and be there own thing. You should have slowly transition into something new. Unchained was definelty in the right step. I hope the monthly release of companions is done with in second edition. I like what we are doing with Starfinder and hopefully 2Ed does the same.

I allow corruptions in my Strange Aeons campaign. We did have another campaign of Strange Aeons, that failed halfway through the book. I have a LE Vanara with the Vamparisim Corruption. Nothing says fun like an Evil Vampire Monkey. I was was a monk on top of that.

I liked a lot of the things in the Horror adventures. Even letting players start with a lesser Madness if they want to. This new group is heavy on the roleplaying aspect. So if they want it for roleplaying purposes. I think it will be fun.

I have never had an issue with ANY other company, including Amazon, on shipping on time. I just ordered from Maple Reality 2 weeks ago and they were back ordered on the product they stated it would be 3-5 days of delay. 2 days later my item shipped. Every time I order from Amazon (which has been about 10 packages in last 2 months) Not one of them ever shipped late.

The fact the website was down for as long as it was is truly unacceptable. There should be at minimum 3 sites. 1 production, 1 beta, and 1 test. Any updates the need to push need to be tested first then ran on beta. The beta should be identical to Production with the exception of who has access to it. We had people not able to access their downloads to download society scenarios.

Also Paizo Mobile is GOD AWEFUL. Anytime you click on the link it shows the dropdown then opens the link before you can select an option. Then when you click then when on the phone you click the button in the upper right to display all of the options you get really big pictures and really small text. I will state it again the menu bar is backwards. The links should be on top and then the search bar should be on the bottom.

I don't truly mind them hitting stores before I get them, but I hate when a non subscriber gets their shipping notification before I get mine as a subscriber. This happen once for sure that I know of.

Sometimes if Amazon screws up they send a second copy of the product and if you receive both you get to keep both. I have had friends have this happen.

PF1e Half Orcs could get things like Ironhide (and Improved Natural Armor), Keen Scent, Iron Guts and Extra Traits(Tusked) at later levels. It isn't that much more far-fetched to suddenly gain Darkvision.

Of course, this could all be solved if we got an extra ancestry feat or two at first, so innate biological abilities don't have to be shoehorned into higher level ancestry feats for lack of feat slots at level 1.

To be honest with you, I never looked much into the Half-Orc as it never interested me. Again yes it is if you just wake up an level then get it. I think ancestry feats should be all gained at 1st level. I liked the idea of a point based system. You get so many to spend and each cost so many point.

The problem is that DEX to damage is absurdly broken. I know I read somewhere, where Paizo said it was a mistake for allowing all that they did with DEX to damage. I got several builds that only need DEX and they put MOST STR based characters to shame. Because I can get a high AC great reflex, all my DEX based skills help in combat, Acrobatics, Stealth etc. The only build I haven't been able to truly beat in damage is 2-Handed Fighters. Where STR based creatures don't get much more benefit out of STR outside of 2-Handed and 2 skills.

While I will agree with the issue with finesse weapons, I think straight allowing DEX to damage for some builds could be insanely broken.

If added to the Rogue Dedication I think there needs to be some sort of requirement. Not just giving it for taking the Dedication. Maybe 6th or 8th level feat with a 16 Dex.

Unless I missed something it seems like the higher your proficiency is the worse the penalty is.

So when you choose to do nonlethal you are treated as untrained. So without any feats or class abilities to help (not actually sure if there is a way)

22 Strength (Starting 18. +1 each at 5, 10, 15, 20)

At 20th level if I am Legendary in Simple Weapons
Lethal = +29 to hit (20 lvl + 3 legendary + 6 Strength)
Nonlethal = +24 (20 lvl + -2 untrained + 6 Strength)

VS Trained (Same Stats)
Lethal = +26 to hit (20 lvl + 6 Strength)
Nonlethal = +24 (20 lvl + -2 untrained + 6 Strength)

Seems the higher your proficiency bonus is the more of a penalty you take. This seems counter productive. You would think the better trained in a weapon you are the better you are at using the weapon especially for off uses.

Again not sure if I am missing something, maybe in the math...

Well, I think that was a first. A complaint about there being TOO man weapons. My problem isn’t there are too many weapons but more that’s a lot of the weapons in each category almost seem identical with a slight change.

The whole concept of this book isn’t for CLASS OPTIONS. It is for equipment. The beauty to Starfinder, is we can get a WHOLE book just on starships. More deck layouts weapons etc. Also could realistically get a whole book on Computers if they decided that they want to delve deeper into computers.

The Pact Worlds I felt could have had a lot more player options. Without the aid of Player Companions (thank god) unless they dedicate a whole book to Class options I feel they need to put more Class Options in books like the Armory. I understand that Starfinder is still very new but you have to also introduce new Class options.

I was disappointed with the lack of feats in this book. I felt this really was a good time to introduce some weapons. Either way, the best book to date. Can’t wait to see what the next book will have.

I am also excited to see more from, what I think was the best section of all:

Spoiler:
Weapon Accesories
.

This is very promising. My only issue is it is MORE thing to spend the few credits I have. Especially in Society.

I feel one thing in the Armory isn’t getting the attention it needs:

Spoiler:
weapon accessories

Agreed. This new sheet is god awful.

The landscape option is meh. I don't like it but I can deal.

I don't like the fact that the Ability scores aren't near the top or even the first thing to fill out. Minus the character details like name and etc. Typically people read left to right top to bottom. Outside of name, class ancestry etc the ability score should be first like the P1E.

There should be an option for a white background. Because that is some INK intensive printing.

I don't mind all of the proficiency pip holes they serve a VERY useful function. Although I feel It would be a LOT and I mean AOT easier to simply have a spot that asked for proficiency and you put 1 of 5 options. U, T, E, M, L (Untrained, Trained, Expert, Master, Legendary. I feel this would free up a lot of room to put a box for people to reference this and what each proficiency grants.
Example:
U = Untrained (lvl - 2)
T = Trained (lvl)
E = Expert (lvl + 1)
M = Master (lvl + 2)
L = Legendary (lvl + 3)

The order of the modifier and then proficiency pip then proficiency modifier then item and armor is really unintuitive
it should read (for simplicity and functionality
Sig box;Line for proficiency; Line for total; Modifier; Proficiency Modifier; Item; Other; Armor Check

This is just some of the things that I found. I have more but this is a start.

Honestly I am not worried about the physical copy shipping. I just want the PDF. I just want them to charge me ASAP and then give me the PDF. They can ship my book on the 2nd for all I care. I hate having to sit and here everyone else talk about what is in the book and I just sit here like what is this or this.

A lot of people say exactly what you just said. Which would not be an unreasonable response... in an faq. But if there is that much confusion, it should have a response in there. Yes even if the response is "Did I stutter?"

I don't see how there is any confusion on this. I am sorry but I feel a lot of these questions people overcomplicate and really are common sense. I mean why would you be able to shoot a weapon that normally deal damage with a healing serum and not have it do damage. Seriously? I need not say more.

As it is there are a lot of reasons to suspect that rule wasn't thinking of the drone as a class feature.

There are none because it is a class feature end of statement.

VoodooSpecter wrote:

There are already a handful of exceptions to the rule that class features can not be used in space, and there's a lot of reasons the drone might be one of them - chief among them that the drone is classified as a Creature, and is almost a character unto itself with its own skills and levels and the ability to take independent action on command - even if not a full round action until you hit a higher level.

If a generic NPC that you bring aboard your ship can participate in ship combat (which they can - otherwise you wouldn't be able to crew larger ships or you know... fight other ships), it is not unreasonable to assume that a drone could also participate. You can also argue that the Drone is a partner character whom you gain access to through a class feature, but that for purposes of this rule the fact that it was spawned from that feature is irrelevant and it is just a creature like any other who might board a ship and take actions if able (obviously it could not take any action at all if the mechanic was disabled and could not issue commands).

It is unreasonable to think otherwise because it apparently spells this out. A drone is a class feature that does not state it can be used in combat. I fail to see how this is an issue. Comparing a drone to an NPC is an absurd idea. One is gained by a class and one isn't. And the keyword is "almost" a creature. When it states, "if the class feature states it can't participate in starship combat" then it can't. This is pretty simple. People trying to twist the rules to accommodate their needs because that's what they to read. This is pretty cut and dry.

In a rulebook where there are FAQ responses like "No, death and dying (a core part of the combat system of this game) doesn't work the way we said it does here. The rules in this other section which contradict that are correct." and "Many of the DCs for crew actions aboard a starship (a core mechanic of our game) are incorrect. Please use this table instead" it a takes a whole ton of stones to say "Listen the rules as written are very clear, and I don't see why your misgivings would warrant an FAQ, just trust that what it says is always correct".

The problem is questioning something that needs to be question vs something people want it to say. So far the 2 examples you gave do not need an FAQ. Don't bloat the FAQ with things that don't need to be, like the two items you stated, especially when they are pretty clear.

There isn't any ambiguity in either of these incidents. Again if the class feature doesn't say you can use it in starship combat then you can't. Please explain the ambiguity in this rule. Don't have the rulebook in front of me for the exact wording. Stop bringing in NPC's and dogs because those aren't relevant. Those aren't class features. Also in home campaigns what is to stop a GM to allow this? If thats how you want it then do that in a home campaign.

What new melee attack feats in Starfinder Armory?

One of my players runs a melee Vesk upgrading to Level 7 by our next session on 8/3. They’re hoping the Armory releasing on 8/2 adds some melee-focused feats. Especially something that helps with their attack roll -they’re already doing pretty good damage.

Plan B: I recommended we could work together and invent a feat that’s mathematically in-line with RAW and narratively justified for the character.

Thanks for any new feat info!

I was wandering if there were any feats in this book. I haven't seen any mention of feats in the book. I to am looking for things to beef up my Nuar Blitz soldier.
Previous commentor teased at least 2 new soldier gear boosts that are melee focused (one specifically for unarmed, one for TWF, and another that sounded like it is for melee energy weapons)

Right I got that. I was looking for feats not gear boosts. I did ask for 2 of the gear boosts and they weren't what I was looking for. Then the 2 that i believe you are referencing have not be spoiled.

I asked for:

Spoiler:

Massive Momentum

I haven't seen what:

Spoiler:

Raw Lethality
Unstoppable Strike
Unyielding Bulwark
Unarmed Mauler

I only cited SFS as an example for item buying an all. That is it.

The class you take at 1st level will decide your key ability score.

Not entirely true. You can have multiple key ability scores. They all remain the same. Even your resolve is not based on your your first class. It uses the highest bonus.

A multiclassed character can have more than one key ability score. For each class, your key ability score remains the same as normal for that class (and for the class features that rely on that score). For any key ability score calculation not tied to class, such as determining your maximum Resolve Points, use whichever key ability score has the highest value (and therefore the highest modifier).

So I am not sure if their is a thread for this yes, if not then I would like to start a new one.

I have been playing SFS since the beginning and I must say that Thurston Hillman has been amazing. He has been on top of it all the time. I have gotten several responses from him in a very timely manner. I appreciate the time and effort he is putting in to making SFS better.

I just want to dedicate a thread to thanking him, as I am sure there are several other people that have the same thought on this matter.

So Thurston thank you for ALL Of the hard work you have done and keeping on doing.
