The RVA Pathfinder Lodge returns again to MarsCon in Williamsburg. We'll have a full slate of Pathfindery and Starfindery goodness on tap. Also this year, the con's gaming guest of honor will be none other than our benevolent Pathfinder Society Overlord, Tonya Woolridge! There's bound to be all sorts of wacky and fun times this year, so mark your calanders!

PFS Schedule can be found HERE: https://warhorn.net/events/marscon-2018

Con information and registration can be found at http://www.marscon.net/wp/

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I have the pleasure of announcing the latest addition to the 5 Star GM Club, Steve Miller, VC of Raleigh. While I only met him for one con, I could tell that he is very deserving of the honor. I'm sure the folks down in North Carolina are lucky to have him.

Congrats Steve!

Another year, another MarsCon. And as far as Pathfinder Society goes, this is the big one in VA. For the second year running, we're looking at 30 tables of PFS fun. Also for the second year running, headlining the event will a SPECIAL - Siege of the Diamond City. It's bound to be a fun weekend of role-playing, demon slaying, TPKs...well hopefully not too many of the last one.

Preliminary schedule and signups now available at https://warhorn.net/events/marscon-2014-pfs . Con registration information is there as well.

I'd like to announce the addition of Zach Williams to the ranks of the Virginia venture staff. Zach will be helping me out primarily in our flagship store in Glen Allen. He's been an invaluable asset to growing PFS in the region and a tireless supporter of the Andoran cause (which I don't hold against him ;).)

Welcome to the team Zach!

I'm pleased to announce that the Pathfinder Society will be making it's debut at The Dragon's Den in Glen Allen VA on May 26, 2013. This really is an amazing venue with lots of awesome staff and a really gamer-friendly environment, not to mention a good selection of Pathfinder products.

We'll be starting off with the PFS 3-01: The Frostfur Captives and hope to have more games shortly thereafter. If you're interested in attending (or helping out with the GMing) please check out the PFS of Virginia Meetup Group or get in touch with me by E-mail or PM.

I am delighted to announce that PFS will be returning to NekoCon in Hampton this November. As of now we have 12 sessions scheduled across the weekend and may add more as circumstances permit. For more information please check out: http://warhorn.net/neko-con-2012-pfs/

I had this come up at a game a week or so ago and wasn't sure as to the answer (so I let it slide). Is there any rules against a new first level character wielding an oversize (in this case Large) weapon? I couldn't locate any restriction on equipment size on first glance in the PFSGOP but with my ADD I'm fully aware I could have missed something.

After reading the thread regarding paladins I had a thought I would put to the group to see if anyone else thinks as I do. While alot of classes have some moral/alignment/ etc. restrictions which might cause problems if they violate them. What occurred to me is that the same thing should apply to PFS factions, or at least some of them which could cause some sort of consequences if they're violated. Of course this would be dependent on the
faction and the seriousness of the "crime" but for example I don't think the Andorans would enjoy a rogue that just ignores innocent slaves nor would the Osirons much like a wizard that destroys an artifact. In essence it would make it so a faction affiliation is more than just fluff.

Of course, I do see a pitfall, and not just the usual "well, how would you interpret it". It could encourage table behavior from certain players that puts their faction above the good of the group. My counter to that is that I'm only suggesting applying something like this to the most blatant and serious violations.

I thought I'd get something up here to let you know about a local convention I've been asked to have some involvement with - Guns of August . While the con is primarily focused on historical wargaming, this year they have decided to have RPGs as well. I have posted a few PFS scenarios, including some of the new material that will be releasing at GenCon. However the con is looking for more RPGs So, if you're interested in running a game, please, let me and know and we'll get it on the schedule. I have a Warhorn site and will be helping to coordinate that aspect of things.

The con is being held at the Holiday Inn - Patriot which some of you may recognize as the same hotel that MarsCon is held at. The con rate for GoA will be $79 but as is the deal with MarsCon, it's definately not the only hotel around, a rather inexpensive Motel 6 being right next door for one. For those non-geeks in the family Williamsburg is also a hub of family entertainment and shopping. The con site is near several large outlet malls and is only a few minutes drive from Colonial Williamsburg and other family fun locations. Dining options are also diverse in the area in both price and cuisine as the con site sits in the center of Williamsburg's main commercial area.

OK, not really but in terms of how long I've been gone I may as well have been. In light of growing frustrations with LFR and my desire to once again be part of a well run campaign I thought I'd come back to where I might be known and know I'll be loved...I think. For those who don't know, I DMed both PFS and LFR at their mutual debut conventions and...really haven't done much with PFS since much to my dismay. I want to get back in the fold and get Calladavar back up to speed. While I can get back into my gnomeyness real easy, there's a couple of things I'd like to ask to assure I'm fully back in the loop.

1) Are there any groups in the Tidewater and/or Richmond, VA area that are looking for more gnomeyness...or at least another player :). Yes DC folks, I know you're up there and on your list...you just haven't had low tier game on a day I could drive up there in...awhile :).

2) I know I could dig through a ton of message boards and rules documents and not get a clear answer, so I thought I'd ask these directly.

a. Online play? Legal or no and if yes what if any conditions are there?
b. I have a few of the early season 0 mods in various places in print or on my hard drive. Those still playable? Are there official conversions or do we have to convert them ourselves?

3) Is the cake a lie?

Thread title pretty much says it all. I gleefully ordered one right after I got back from GenCon and it appears they're still not available. Should I just cancel my order or is this something that will be resolved soon.

I've run slot 0s online for a couple cons now and I'm willing to organize tables for PFS judges at GenCon. I've used several different methods but I've found the best for me is a program called MapTool (rptools.net) and either Skype or Ventriolio (trust me, voice = better). If you're interested, post here and/or contact me off board at dagent145 -at- gmail -dot- com. If there's enough interest I'll take the extra step of creating a yahoo group.
