Erians Glen-Age of Discovery DM wrote: Memnon can choose to use his Christmas present. A reroll of any d20 Attack 10+8 = 18 .... better but I don't know if it hits
Here is damage anyway Damage 8+5 = 13
With his attention on the large ogre staring dumbfounded at pretty elf women Memnon doesn't notice the blade arc down towards him until he feels it slice into his chest.
Warm blood flows down his chest, his lungs gurgle and wheeze with every breath and bloods starts staining his lips. Hearing Janas's call he steps to his right and swings at the bugbear threatening Ethalwulf but his wound over comes him and he misses badly.
Attack 1+8 = 9 GREAT!!!
Looking at the large monster standing in front of him Memnon screams a challenge at the monster and charges. As he closes the distance between them he arks his sword in a backhand swing aimed at the monsters neck.
Use a Fighting challenge for +1 to attack and damage
Attack 17+9=26
Damage 6+4 = 10
Memnon looks behind him as the wolf starts to growl. "Pits of Hell" he curses as he sees eyes on the giant snake. Steeling his nerves he a justs his grip on his sword.
How high is the snake? Can I charge and attack it?
Memnon looks on as the flames light the night sky trying to spot the leader. Looking back at the wolf eagerly waiting to attack the goblins, "Follow me boy and keep the goboes off my back." Memnon runs behind the line of wagons to the far wall hoping that the wolf understood him enough to follow.
Spot check 14 -1 = 13
Moves to T23, i think I can make it that far with a X4 run
Listen 17 - 1 = 16
Spot 12-1 = 11
Hide 12-7 = 5 (plus what ever cover I get from the wagon.... i hope)
Got your email thanks, everything looks good.
From behind a wagon Memnon watches everyone finish there preparations for the up coming battle.
He draws his sword, grounding it in front of him and kneels on the ground. Clearing his mind he closes his eyes and with a prayer to the Far Walker he silently waits for his time to attack.
Memnon listens intently trying to keep up with all that was said. These men seem to have a pretty good handle on tactics and strategy. I let them plan the attack and I will lead the way in the initial charge.
"All this sounds good, just tell me where to be when we spring the trap."
Memnon grabs the extra ring "Thank you and we will do what we can for you town."
He turns to the rest of the group "We ready?"
"Yes we seem to be missing our gnome companion but I am sure he will show up again, I think he wanted to deal with some stuff before the attack."
Memnon looks to Erian "You plan seem sounds so I think we should get started getting everything ready."
"Fine it seems we need to hustle back to the city, I can get my wounds healed there."
Memnon runs and grabs his javilen and walks up to the poor girl, "Come stay in between us and we will help you walk if you need it."
He starts walking towards the city walls.

OK, once everyone is leveled up, we will begin.
Welcome back.
Already leveled up and ready to go.
Memnon stares at the ground as his mind runs though all his options and after several moments he looks up.
"As far as injuries go mine are pretty superficial so I am willing to go after this leader the goblins are talking about but I agree that we should probably stay together."
"I am not very good with strategy but I was thinking since the goblins have the advantage in the dark maybe we could set a trap inside the city walls for them since we know they are coming. Hopefully in the city walls we can use the terrain to our advantage."
Memnon looks at everyone and thinks to himself 'I don't know if I like being the leader here but it's a challenge I am willing to step up to.'
"What does everyone think?"
Memnon lets out a sigh of relief when the girl starts talking again. Memnon waves off the concerned questions about his side and leg "I can wait until everyone else is taken care of."
He limps over to Dardin and looks at the note he is holding and none of the gibberish on the paper makes any sense and after hearing Dardin translate Memnon is still quite confused.
"Ok someone is going to have to translate that even a little more for me. I gather that later tonight the goblins are attacking and then something else bigger is following in their wake?"
Memnon grabs the arrow in his thigh and pulls it out. Pain washes over him and he leans against the tree next to him and takes some deep breaths and grabs the arrow in his side and pulls it out and throws both of them on the ground.
After the pain fades Memnon limps over to where Veirax is tending to the girl "Is everyone OK?" Memnon looks down at the girl and turns to Veirax "Will she make it?"
Memnon grits his teeth against the pain of the arrows sticking out of his body. "Come goblin lets find out how good you really are." Memnon shouts at the goblin in the lowest branch.
Uses his Knights fighting challenge, I don't have my books with me and I can't remember the DC for that challenge Will save against 14 DC it think (10 + class level + Chr mod)
Memnon runs to the closest goblin and swings his sword at the goblin.
I don't know if there are any penalties for attacking some one on high ground
Attack 15 + 5 = 20 (if fails save +1)
damage 7 + 3 = 10 (if fails save +1)
Memnon look down at the girl 'I can leave her!' Memnon sheaths his sword and grabs a javelin and hurls it at the closest goblin in a tree.
attack 5 Wonderful
Erians Glen-Age of Discovery DM wrote: I should be home in about two hours and will post then. You guys must have really been wanting combat. What happened to my surprise round and initiative? :) Surprise!!!!
There you feel better now :)
Memnon is not know for his patience sorry about that.
"Memnon looks down at Dardin "The girl is next to the fire and it seems that the goblins are hiding in the tree waiting for us. Well I am not going to keep them waiting the minute their attention is on me blast one out of the tree over there." Memnon points to one of the goblins in the tree.
I don't know what the procedure is for showing another character something so go ahead and make any roles for me.
Memnon charges ahead through the bushes shouting "I KNOW YOUR THERE LITTLE GOBLINS LEAVE NOW OR DIE!!!!!" Memnon charges into the clearing around the fire and stands over the girl on the ground to shield her from the goblin arrows.
Sorry edited my previous post so you might need to reread it.
Spot check 19 - 1 = 18 + 12 for moving with in 40 feet
Move Silently check 1 - 7 = -6 (maybe they will mistake me for a herd of stampeding buffalo and flee in panic leaving the girl)
Hide check 5 - 7 = -2 (a shiny buffalo with a sword)
Memnon starts off through the trees shielding the stone but letting just enough light to check his footing. It seems that no matter how careful he is, every stick and leave ends up under his feet and he cringes with every snap and rustle. He get with in forty feet of the nearest enemy and stops.

"You wants me to be attackin dere firepit?"
Memnon looks down at the small halfling and takes the rock "Thank you, ...I am just going to walk in there and see who wants to fight. If we can see the girl lets attack the group furthest from her so maybe our stealthy friends can free her while the rest are dealing with us."
I know this is probably a terrible plan but Memnon is not the sharpest tool in the shed
"You have found the others? What are we waiting for lets go get the girl back."
Memnon looks at the group talking about what they should do. "Dardin lets give the others a couple minutes to sneak in close and how about you and I just have a talk with some goblins." Memnon draws his sword to emphasizes his idea of talking.
"The two of us would not be enough to scare them into doing something stupid and hurt the girl so I say we bring the fight to them."
As the gate swings awkwardly outward Memnon draws his sword and charge out into the field.
As he runs up to Erian trying to keep the goblin alive Memnon positions himself between Erian and the forest behind him watching for more goblins.
Spot check 20 - 1 = 19
Listen check 4 - 2 = 3
Hearing the sudden rush of the horses gate Memnon cuts the last vine holding the gate and pushes with all his strength.
Str check 18 + 3 = 21
Memnon walks up to the gate and discreetly as possible draws his dagger and cuts all but one of the vines holding the gate in place and prepares to cut the last vine and charge through.
"That sounds like a sound plan, we should cut the bindings on the gate and once we see your signal we can charge through the gate." Memnon looks around at the group "Erian I think you should take at least Aradove and Ethelwulf with you they shouldn't slow you down much and you might need the help once everything gets started."
"I will be happy to stay in the trailing party, I am not nearly as fast as the people in the scouting party but I suggest that we do not get to far apart."
As Dinpel gather Aradove and Erian together and starts whispering Memnon wanders what is going on 'They must have seen something'. Memnon walks up to the three "What is going on? I am sure I could help."
Aradove Dawntracker wrote: I am interested in what you think, Memnon?" Aradove flashes a little smile as she speaks to the knight. Memnon looks at the gate "This is most likely the way they have been coming into the city but lets wait here and see who shows up to help out."
Memnon walks toward the gate and stop about five feet from it "I think we should wait for someone skilled at finding traps to look at the gate it might be trapped to discourage pursuit."
Memnon slows as he finally catches up to Aradove and her wolf, 'for such a small thing that elf can really move' he thinks. Ethelwulf drops a bit of cloth in Aradoves hand and Memnon steps next to the elf to get a look. "What did you find?"
Memnon stays by the young man and baker while Erian and Aradove search the surrounding area to see if they can pick up the trail again. "Don't worry gentlemen we will find the girl as soon as possible."
After about an hour of searching Erian finally finds the trail again and prepares to ride back the tavern to get help and get their stuff.
Erian El'ranelen wrote: "If any of you left gear you'd need in your rooms, I can retrieve it for you as well." Memnon hands him his key "If you could get my pack and javelins I would be grateful, I think we might be spending the night outside of the city."
As Aradove and Ethelwulf start jogging down the river bank Memnon looks back to Shephard "I will go with them in case a sword is needed may the the Far Walker watch over you". He quickly turns and gives chase 'If they do find something I might be needed, besides this is what I am good at not this searching for tracks and sign. All I see is grass and dirt, thats about it.'
Memnon can see that this young man truly cares about this girl and maybe Dinpels paranoia might not be all that misplaced after all.
"Can you show us where she usually waits for you? We have some experienced trackers in our group and they might be able to see if she left a trail last night."
Erians Glen-Age of Discovery DM wrote: The foreman turns, and you notice that he is wearing a symbol of Fharlanghn around his neck. He recognizes the church affiliation of Shepherd and Memnon, puts on a helpful smile, and says, “Greetings revered, what do I owe this honor and pleasure.” He then bows his head in respect.
Memnon looks at the foreman and bows back to the man "Greetings sir we are looking for a man named Earm the foreman in the front told us we could find him here."
Erians Glen-Age of Discovery DM wrote: The man looks at the three of you. He seems to recognize Ormod’s name, if not his face. “You three shouldn’t be in here getting in the way of my men. Don’t know this Estra, but Earm is working in the lumber side. Go out and use the south doors. Now I need you to leave.”
Memnon looks at the surly foreman and raises one eyebrow "Well sir sorry to bother you and thank you for your help we will try the south doors." Memnon looks to the other two and nods towards the door they came in on and starts walking outside.
As everyone starts walking away Memnon looks to find himself alone and he starts after Shephard and Ormod "Ormod since I am the only one that is not checking out our surroundings could I also accompany you and Shephard. I am good with people so I might be of assistance." Memnon looks at the baker with a big smile "Better that waiting out here."
I figured that this will keep the game going also since now you will not be talking to your self.
Memnon matches his pace with the jumpy baker "No need to worry good sir there will be no violence we are just happy to accompany you and help if we are needed. If you would like you could go talk to Earm and we will wait outside or perhaps Shephard could accompany you alone as a mediator."
Memnon walks down the road listening to the conversations and wondering what they will find at the mill. 'This city is more like a country side surrounded by a wall, all this open space definitely makes it feel less of a city for sure.' he thinks as he looks over a the fields and occasional grove of trees.
Dinpel Jannipack wrote: Dinpel takes his cocked xbow off his back, inserts a bolt and cradles it in his arms waiting a answer from the group "I appreciate your caution but lets just see if there is any signs of foul play at the mill before we scare any of the locals by showing a force of arms."
None the less Memnon reaches down and loosens his sword in its scabbard 'The little gnome has got me worried now.' he thinks.
Erian El'ranelen wrote: Erian nods knowingly as Memnon speaks, "Ah, I see, a damsel in distress and a noble knight! No disrespect intended, by the way. Surely, however, if a dispute arises we could simply call the watch...from what I know of Erian's Glen, it is still under the rule of law. Good sir, have you taken this matter to the guard as yet?" His last question is directed at the baker.
"Well Erian I don't think the city guard would consider this a real high priority since right now it might just be a daughter rebelling against her father. If she does turn up missing then most definitely we should inform the guard." As he continues walking down the road Memnon can't help but envy Erian for having a nice horse. 'I think that I will have to save up some money for a nice horse, I miss the companionship of a good steed.' he thinks to himself.
Memnon looks over at the gnome and baker "My name is Memnon Varial a knight of Rutania and I also am originally from Aidens Wall but I have not been there in some time. I believe we have already met Miss Dawntracker. Well now that we all know each other shall we find your daughter?"
Memnon motions towards the baker "If you could accompany us to the edge of town that would help and if you do not want to follow us from there that is fine either way let us be on are way."
Memnon walks up to one of his brothers in faith and druid elf as they are talking to a distressed man telling them about his missing daughter. Suddenly a gnome appears almost out of no where and starts questioning the poor man about where his daughter, Memnon recognizes him from the same caravan that he came in on but during the whole trip he never had a chance to talk to him much.
As the baker tells everyone where they could find his daughter and the boy she is infatuated with Memnon adds "Don't worry good sir we will find your daughter and return her safely." Memnon looks at the rest of the group and asks "Is everyone here settled in or do you need to drop off your gear somewhere?"

Erians Glen-Age of Discovery DM wrote: "Would you need help carrying your things or can you manage by yourself?" Memnon flashes a big grin, "No I think I can handle it, Thanks." He reaches down and grabs his bag and heads towards the stairs.
Memnon quick gets settled in his room and stops for a minute to admire the view of the goldleaf trees swaying slowly in the wind. 'Well time to get a lay of the land' Mamnon thinks as he closes the door and locks it.
Memnon slowly walked down the street watching the merchants and travelers argue over prices and a group of small children trying to make a light paper box fly in the wind.
As he walked down a road bordered by the goldleaf trees he finally approaches one of the Worship Halls. As Memnon walks to the door he notices the one elf girls wolf sitting in the shadows watching him, Aradove was the girls name. Memnon smiles as he thinks about all the new people he met on the road here. 'Hopefully our roads will stay joined for a while longer.' he thinks as he push the doors open and steps inside.
Erians Glen-Age of Discovery DM wrote: “Ahem. Welcome to Erian’s Rest. How may I help you.” She smiles again looking almost dreamily into your piercing blue eyes.

Memnon smiles back at the flustered dreamy eyed girl "Yes I would like a room with a window please. And I was also wondering when they serve dinner here." Memnon pulls out his purse as he looks looks back at the girl.

The creek and rumbling sound from the wagon wheels finally stop as the drivers rein in their teams in the trading center of Erian's Glen and Memnon pulls his horse to a stop and swings off the saddle. Walking to the front of the horse he strokes it's muzzle "I will miss you Voyager my friend, you were a fine travel companion on the road from Aidens Wall".
Memnon takes the reins and leads the horse to the one of the wagon masters. "Thank You for allowing me to ride Voyager on the journey here and I hope to see you on the road again sometime, may Fharlanghn continue to bless you on the road home."
After shaking hands with the wagon master Memnon collects his gear from one of the wagons and starts walking into town. Looking around he can see several of his travel companions wandering off to complete some of the personal business but Memnon remembered that several of them were staying at an in called Erian's Rest. 'Maybe I will try to get a room there also and since I am new here it would be nice to be around at least someone I know even if for only a couple days.'
Memnon walks through the city hoping to find a Worship Hall and leave thanks to Fharlanghn for the good fortune on the journey here but he set eyes on the inn everyone was talking about. Memnon walks up the steps and enters the foyer as one of his travel companions walks up to the counter before him. 'Lady Janus I think, well I guess she will be staying here also.' Memnon walks up behind her and patiently waits his turn.

Utak I made the small changes in my background and I should be all ready.
I am excited to be part of this one and I can't wait to see what you have instore for us, the setting is pretty awesome so far.
Finished my background (pending my wife proof read, I am a horrible speller)
It is a bit long but I hope you can use some things in it. I think you have my email if you want to send me or my wife some changes.
Twiceborn is your character coming from Cein? I will be and I figured maybe I could be part of your escort or something since we are part of the same faith and all.
Got my character sheet done and will finish the background tomorrow.
