noted Melilot replies. thank you

No claims.

"These days? Why these days more than any other?" Azhar asks of Fiosa or Melilot.

used to be part of my job Melilot explains. although naked and in front of a larger audience

same consequences if i lost though

Save vs. poison: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Round 3:
Huh, I guess I do get a high ground bonus here? So that's now another +2 to hit. I don't think I'm flanking, though, so I won't include that.

Whack it again:

To hit: 1d20 + 17 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 2 - 2 + 2 = 30
Damage: 1d4 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 2 = 14

Do I need to make a save against poison?

Round 2:
"[G]rappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform", so the lucerne hammer is now useless.

Drop the lucerne hammer, draw sling staff as move action, attack as one handed melee weapon. -2 to hit from being grappled, +2 to hit and damage from bardic:

To hit: 1d20 + 17 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 17 + 2 - 2 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 = 13

On preview: Will use Reliable Strike as an immediate action to reroll that attack roll:

To hit: 1d20 + 17 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 17 + 2 - 2 = 36

Note: I believe I have a -4 Dex penalty at the moment as well.

Combat Round One:
I'm assuming Melilot does not have to be deliberately suicidal here - especially since I'm not even sure if this is where things are going to go down. If she does need to be a risk-taker, feel free to let me know what you want her to do. Also feel free to fudge dice rolls against her to get this where you need it to go if need be.

Assuming she should behave as normal, given the likely lack of mobility in this situation, she will opt to use the lucerne hammer. So, draw it as a move action, and either strike if there is a target, or ready a strike for when a target appears.

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

To hit: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Perception 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

three creatures stalking us about thirty feet down

Melilot will be on boat 1d3 ⇒ 1

Hey, all.

So, I sometimes like to experiment with the types of characters I play. Melilot was an experiment. Unfortunately, playing Melilot is boring the heck out of me.

So just FYI, I've talked to Mana and will be switching soon to a new character who will (hopefully) be significantly more interactive and stuff.

Sounds good.

GM:
So ... I've been trying to make a go of it with Melilot, really I have, but I think she's just the wrong character for this game. I'm not having fun playing her at this point.

So I'm at the point of basically asking, is there a good way to kill her off?

GM:
Before continuing the Fiosa conversation, just wanted to clear up something that is confusing me -- am I meant to take it that Fiosa somehow overheard the private spoilered conversation among Cassian, Rev, and Melilot?

I'm off to bed, but so as not to delay matters unnecessarily -- if the theft plan is decided on, Melilot will agree to join the team, and if rental or purchase is decided on, she is happy to be the public "face" doing so if such a thing is deemed necessary (although she would suggest that if someone with a better ability to Bluff wants to they would probably be more suited to it, since they are less likely to arouse suspicions as to purpose.)

Mathalen's quiet voice, "So you want to magic yourselves up, go running across the mouth of the delta, being incredibly inconspicuous to the navy boats and any fishermen that might be out there, hope you can find the magically hidden cache in time, avoid all the beasties that are in the bay, and come back." A bright smile, "I've never been so happy that there isn't enough room for me on a dangerous expedition."

A slight pause.

if we could all stop behaving like f#*%ing snotty sarcastic teenagers to each other Melilot replies, we could probably manage to come up with a good plan without pissing each other off for no reason

that aside mathalen those are good objections to the water walking plan and cassian you had a reasonable objection to the overland plan she continues. i would like to add that stealing a boat seems like a completely unnecessary risk to save a negligible amount of money given our resources

that makes me think that buying or renting a few rowboats seems like the most sensible path at present unless someone has a better reason for one of the other plans she says. with arael coming along in case we prove to need water walking or water breathing to get to the wave door

Cassian Merro wrote:
"Yeah, that sounds much more efficient," Cassian says sarcastically. "But hey, it's your silver piece."

six miles an hour is a steady jogging speed for a biggun Melilot muses aloud, so if it is five miles or less from the tip of the island to the cove then a team could get there in one casting of 50 minutes duration

team of arael and four bigguns carrying as many small teammates as they can take without being encumbered she continues. heavy armor packed or only light armor worn for maximum speed

that would mean one casting to arrive one casting to explore and one casting to return

probably be tired after the return trip but things will be over then

chavamana wrote:
Ailyn, "We could always just take the land route first. I mean.. that should only be a day's trip out of the city.. maybe two?"

seems like a long way out of the way Melilot says dubiously.

how far is it from the southern tip of the parego regicona to the cove she asks. it seems like the closest point and there does not seem to be much there outside the wall if we wish a surreptitious journey

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Azhar Mithra Amin wrote:
Azhar blinks, "Well, um, unless I'm completely mistaken, that would put it somewhere out in the cove...and I haven't yet learned to walk on water." He looks at Melilot, "Did you pick up on something I missed?"
Cassian Merro wrote:
Cassian snickers. Apparently he was thinking the exact same thing.

if someone among us has access to a spell that allows for walking on water Melilot says patiently, a single casting might very well cover a large number of people for well over an hour without the expense of renting a boat or the risk of stealing one

GM:
Shopping:

Belt of Giant Strength +2
3 vials Alchemist's Fire

All good?

Fiosa:
Melilot looks contemplative. i honestly do not think rev preserved her life so he could have an opportunity to torture her

Gozran 22 - Safehouse

Gravlax d'Antonio wrote:
"That seems unnecessary," Gravlax says. "Perhaps we could rent one for this purpose, and you could steal one later?"

is it close Melilot asks. because we could just walk there if so

Fiosa:
on the other hand we are all walking away and we at least seem to all be as sane as we were when we started

chavamana wrote:
Arael's voice, dry, "You do have money now. We could just rent one."

Melilot turns towards Arael and looks attentive, patiently waiting for him to make his point.

Cassian Merro wrote:
"Never stolen a boat before. Sounds like fun."

it cannot be too difficult Melilot muses. they come with their own getaway plan already equipped

Cassian Merro wrote:
"Can we get to the cache of gear first? Seems like that sort of thing would help with the other errands."

sounds good

So ... should we keep more of the Skull Candies? Or will 2 be enough for the blown-to-bits corpses and we count on using Speak With Dead for the possibly-not-as-blown-to-bits rest of them?

Fiosa:
chavamana wrote:
Her voice quiet, "That was a place full of death, pain, and sorrow."

Melilot seems a little at a loss.

we are all right thought at least she tries.

Cassian Merro wrote:
"All right. The Luccas are insignificant after that fall from grace before the Thrunes. The local representative is Rance Lucca, whose money comes from the Devildrome, a fighting ring in Rego Cader. And the Sisterhood of Eisbeth is a group of religious assassins. They hang out in the Massacre House, also in Rego Cader."

would someone be willing to give a brief and simple explanation of all of the relevant parties living and dead who are somehow involved in whatever it is we are planning to do says Melilot. because now that part two of our circuitous plan to enter delvehaven is nearly a third completed i confess i have rather lost track of things

GM:
chavamana wrote:
Fiosa holds herself perfectly and totally in check until the pair gets back to the room. Then she sinks down on the floor (far easier for a halfling than the over large chairs) shaking.

Melilot walks over to the other halfling and holds her.

What room are we in, exactly?

No claims.

Gravlax looks around.

"Otherwise, what options are we looking at? Heading north? Talking to a spirit? Slipping over the walls at Delvehaven and performing a little reconnaissance?"

how about we go to delvehaven and have a look inside

Rev:
Just to clarify, I normally wouldn't suggest spells for another player to potentially cast; I know you don't have a lot of time these days (if any), so I was hoping I could give you something you could give a yes/no response to (if you can reply at all) rather than spend the usual time on back-and-forth with it. Sincere apologies if I ended up stepping on your toes by doing so.

GM, Cassian, Rev:
I know Rev can't post right now so I don't want to steamroll over things. How should we handle this?

If everyone likes the plan or some variation of it, Melilot would also suggest lowering Sian's Will Save before the spells are cast.

Cassian and Rev:
a convenient lie will be detected or even impossible to speak if rev casts the appropriate spells Melilot clarifies. if she tries to lie or stays silent we know and she loses another finger

it really should not take more than a few fingers before the truth comes out Meliliot adds.

Cassian and Rev:
i believe there are spells that can discern lies and compel truth she comments, which might make the task easier

and if she refuses to answer i could chop off one of her fingers at a time until she does she offers after a moment.

Gravlax d'Antonio wrote:
Gravlax looks doubtful. "So this is the last remnants of a dying enchantment rather than a cunning trap?"

Melilot glances at the obviously dangerous and completely unhidden mass of moving chains surrounding the slain outsider, then back at Gravlax.

cunning she comments.

Rev Keaton Amin wrote:
"Sounds good. I plan on talking to Sian, so perhaps Cassian can join me in that... or whoever thinks they have skills in that arena." Rev suggests they take Sian to the very very poor quarter (the one that's falling apart), and question her there, so she doesn't see the safe-house, or anyone's home. Unless someone has a better location, in which case he will defer.

Melilot volunteers to join for this.

Gravlax d'Antonio wrote:
Gravlax looks at the waving chain fronds. "So ... the chains are just a mindless enchantment?"

Melilot waves a hand at the several chains whose tips are fragmented and flaking away in bits of rust.

sian was hired to free 'the twined' and 'weakened his bonds' which seems likely to have been by killing the creature controlling them Melilot says.

Rev Keaton Amin wrote:
And Rev examines the Kyton from a distance. "He's dead."

crap says Melilot. well score one for 'the twins' then i suppose

Azhar Mithra Amin wrote:
"Oh, well I guess that solves that. Shall we take a look around or assume that Sian, or whoever else was here, already got anything worth getting."

we have what we came for

"Just thought the stab wounds were a lot like the ones in the dead elf thief in the entrance." A pause, a shrug, "But you're the doctor, so I figured if that were the case and I weren't imagining things, that you'd have mentioned it." Her tone even throughout.
"Hmm" Rev ponders. "Now that you bring it up, I suppose you have a point. Since they tend to regenerate, it would be odd for a Kyton to have fresh wounds which are the same as an elf that looks like he has been dead for decades. Guess I'm distracted. So... what do you want to do?" He asks her.

Melilot's furrowed brow clears during the conversation above.

well now things are finally starting to make sense Melilot says.

will it heal on its own or can you heal it or is it dead she asks Rev.

Leveled, although she's gonna want to go shopping soon, too. :)

Hi everyone.

Due to a very big project at work, I'm going to have very limited free time for the next 11 weeks. Once we finish this section I'm going to take a short leave of absence from game so I can concentrate on work. Ill be able to post frequently again starting first week of November. Ive already let Mana know. Thanks for understanding.

Good luck, take care, and slay the paperwork demons righteously. :)

the optimal method for dealing with the unknown is not always throwing rocks at it
