I DM'd both and they both were a blast! The only thing I can say is that it depends on your group - especially with AoW. If you have a party of folks who want to roleplay, buy businesses - I had one dude who wanted to take over the Greyhawk arena - etc, then this is NOT the AP for you. If you have a group of folks that like to duke it out with cool undead, giants, dragons and a god, then you'll love this one.

Is this more to your liking?

P.S. Kruelaid, thank you for the welcome.

Letter from owner of dealership about Chrysler taking away his franchise.

The scary thing is that it may be legal. Imagine being told your $3M business inventory that you own will be made nearly worthless in less than a month.

And the article that reports on it.

I dont know how true this is but according to the Maryland (my home state) Dealers Association, dropping dealerships will do almost nothing to save Chrysler or GM money. Apparently they are franchises and 90% of their profits go back to the car companies with almost no overhead.

There is a dealership in Montgomery County MD that was started at the end of WW 1 that received the bad news and they have over $2M in cars on their lot.

Over 2.3 square miles to build a memorial? That's a pretty big block of granite...

In case you're wondering how big 1500 acres is, it's the exact size of the National Mall in DC.

I wonder why the erosion of property rights doesn't disturb the general public. It almost never comes up in political discourse, but it's happening everywhere.

Because the average Joe (and Josephine) quite frankly isnt smart enough to understand what your talking about and dont care - until it happens to them of course. It would mean - God forbid - that they might have to miss american idol this week to read about something.

Most influentiual:
Jaws, Alien

Evil Dead... awesome!

Alien, In the Mouth of Madness (Hugely underated) and the Evil Dead trilogy are all great movies! The Ring is a bit too PG13 for me, Jaws? I have never considered Jaws a horror movie before. Which 'The Thing' I wonder? The 50's version or the John Carpenter version? Both are really good for different reasons. Halloween and Halloween 2 are my favorite 'slasher flicks' - though the rest do suck (Why wont the believe that man when he says: 'Michael Myers is in this town!'?). Though I kind of liked the Rob Zombie redo of Halloween as well.

Many Moons Ago I started a thread about the 'Chessiest Horror Movie Ever' - and I got a HUGE response. There were movies mentioned that I had never heard of (and I foolishly considered myself a bad movie fan!).

Now I would like to start a new thread: What do you feel is the BEST horror movie(s) of all time? - Or, what is your favorite horror movie If you prefer.

My top two are:

1) Masque of the Red Death
2) Pit and Pendulum

Print: The novel Dune (The whole thing)

Film: Theme song from Green Slime

TV: The opening credits to UFO (yes the highly sexist focusing on the lady's backside credits!)

1). Githyanki - I adore githyanki, drow are cool but completely exhausted for me, I think githyanki are the best badguy race.
2). Aboleth - As a huge Lovecraft/Mythos fan I think aboleths rock!
3). Illithids - See #2.
4). Demons/Devils/Daemons, etc.
5). Death Giants - these are one of the coolest 'new monsters' ever. Adding a template to these guys is pure Dming gamer-gasm for me.
6). Sons of Kyuss - always been a fan of these critters, they would've ranked higher for me but I just finished running AoW and I'm burnt out on Kyuss-related critters.

The Age of Worms ended in deafeat for my players and has seen Kyuss ascendant:

PC Name: Ghostwolf; 21st level Warlock/1st level Enlightened Soul
Adventure: Dawn of a New Age
Location: Top of the Spire

Ghostwolf sacrificed himself in a – futile – attempt to destroy the Wormgod. Ghostwolf allowed his ally Helohm Umlocham to overload his Staff of the Magi which inflicted a massive 432 hit points of damage to Kyuss! This resulted in Kyuss casting time stop to cast harm on himself 3 times! After that Ghostwolf’s surviving companions decided retreat was the better part of valor and teleported away.

PC Name: Dominic Cornelius; 15th level Cleric of Heironious/5th level Thaumaturgist/2nd level Hierophant
Adventure: Dawn of a New Age
Location: Top of the Spire

Dominic Cornelius was beheaded by Kyuss and then resurrected via a wish scroll, a few rounds later he was killed by a Divine Blast and resurrected again by yet another wish scroll – two deaths and 2 lost levels in one battle!

PC Name: Sarina; Celestial Human 18th level Favored Soul of Heironious – Planar Cohort
Adventure: Dawn of a New Age
Location: Top of the Spire

Sarina was slain by Kyuss – Divine Blast and Horrid Wilting – and was revived by Dominic Cornelius – Revenance and True Resurrection.

PC Name: Mebad Heehaw; Half-Orc 20th level Barbarian/1st level Fighter
Adventure: Dawn of a New Age
Location: Top of the Spire

While not technically killed by Kyuss, Mebad was imprisoned under Kyuss’s tower – since the Heroes of Fate fled from the Wormgod, it is more than likely that Mebad’s fate will not be a pleasant one.

PC Name: Seamus the Worm; 9th level Wizard – Transmuter/10th level Transmogrifist
Adventure: Into the Wormcrawl Fissure
Location: The Apostle Caves

Seamus was on the wrong end of N’vesh-n’kar’s necromantic vomit (roll a ‘1’ and take 17 points of Con Drain – Brilliant!)

NPC Name: Iona Li-Adon, Wife of Sir Guy Ashmore (10th level elven Wizard/5th level Abjurant Champion/2nd level Holy Scourge) – Sir Guy Ashmore’s cohort
Adventure: Into the Wormcrawl Fissure
Location: The Apostle Caves

Iona was disintegrated by N’vesh-n’kar, the Apostle of Kyuss. After the heroes of fate quit the field, Sir Guy dutifully had his love resurrected.

Note: This was the second time in the Apostle Caves that Iona was slain – the first time was when she failed her save vs. N’vesh-n’kar’s death trap and was brought back via a revivify.

PC Name: Helohm Umlocham; 11th level Warmage/8th level Mage Killer
Adventure: Into the Wormcrawl Fissure
Location: The Apostle Caves

Helohm was felled in battle with the undead guardians of N’vesh-n’kar. He was resurrected by his allies.

NPC Name: Sarina, Battle-Maid of Heironious (15th level Celestial Human Favored Soul – BroCo’s Planar Cohort)
Adventure: Kings of the Rift
Location: Kongen-Thulnir – the Vault

At the wrong end of both a Raam’s trample and Brazzemal the Burning’s fiery breath, Sarina was sent to her eternal reward. However, fearing the advent of the Age of Worms, Sarina returned to the mortal realm.

PC Name: Fourman Guy (4th level Bard/3rd level Druid/2nd level Arcane Hierophant/6th level Focain Lyrist/1st level Sublime Chord)
Adventure: Kings of the Rift
Location: Kongen-Thulnir – the Royal Palace of Achaime Silvereye, Mad-King of the Rift (side trek)

Fourman fell in battle with the Dolgaunt minions of Tharizdun that were defending the underground temple of the Dark God. Caught in two Blade Barriers will do that.

My wife likes to watch Lifetime Movie Network CONSTANTLY - I can't remember the specifics - I block them out, lest I find myself jibbering like a victim from a Lovecraft story - it suffices to say that if you made movies with titles like: 'I hate men' or 'men are pigs' you would have the jist of them all

While not a PC, I still count cohorts in the KIA column:

Cohort Name: Bubba-Chomp (15th level Aasimar Fighter) - Planar Cohort of Dominic Cornelius
Adventure: Kings of the Rift
Location: Kongin-Thulnir

While heading into the southern section of Kongin-Thulnir, the party was ambushed by Xyzanth, the Wyrm Fang Dragon. After a brief and violent struggle - 4 rounds - the heroes were able to drive Xyzanth off, but at a terrible price: Bubba-Chomp, planar Cohort to Brother Dominic Cornelius ended up on the wrong side of the dragon's lifedraining maw.

Adventure: The Library of Last Resort
Location: The Great Rift canyon – 1,500 years in the past

Slain in battle vs. the swords of Kyuss and a mature adult blue dragon – while in the form of a remorhaz, Seamus was nearly done in by multiple invocations of the worm. After recovering Seamus was on the wrong side of a dragon’s breath weapon.

I'm about the introduce Tigalos Island in my campaign, and I see the nightmare beast as an easy kill. Heck, with my group, I might have to add one or two extra nightmare beasts just to make it believable. A party of 16th level slayers concentrating their might on one CR 18 foe is no contest at all. Just my initial thoughts. Once the moment of truth arrives, I suspect I'll make a variety of adjustments to suit the campaign.

Trust me, you'll have to - so far my guys have battled:

1). The ropers - one was REALLY advanced - tough fight
2). Advanced Octopuss tree - they went through it like poop through a goose
3).4 displacer beast packlords - decent random encounter
4). The Titan and his advanced gargoyle/fighter minions - they won that one with two KIAs, both arcanists - VERY TOUGH FIGHT
5). Tilagos bulette w/max hps
6). Harrowdoth - see above
7). 3 'Jotunblood trolls' - template from Green Ronin's advanced bestiary - that I threw in. The defeated that one with minimal resources.

I suggest redoing Harrowdeath's feats - maybe quickened L.Bolt, or empowered C.lightning? And raising his Charisma - at the least

Osirion

Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

Did anyone else run into this?

Tonight my PCs tore right through Harrowdroth the Nightmare Beast (Island of Last Resort). I'll admit he did do alot of damage in melee, but for a CR 18 encounter he was weak!

I've been playing DnD for a fair amount of time and I remember the Nightmare Beast from Dark Sun as being an actual terror! If memory serves, it was:

1). The Dragon
2). Nightmare Beasts
3). Drakes

This guy was a pale imitation.

Just a quick question - which I kinda hesitate to ask - is anyone's group planning on playing both 3.5/pathfinder, etc AND 4e? Let me clarify: my group has 2 DM's (myself and another), currently I am DMing AoW. When we are finished the ‘other’ will run a 4e campaign, and this will continue (after that I will most likely run RotRL 3.5).
