Is the barbarian even at fault, as it was, after all, the ogre who killed the child?
Exactly. You have a fairly neutral view... one could easily agree that the barbarian's action caused the death... parlay could have occurred and saved the child.

This is a good point. I to have similar worries with a rogue that has been created for the RotRL. She is set CG but has made money by scamming people and has fled city to city before heading to Sandpoint. I know the circumstances are different but treatment of the PC would be the same.
My background is that I tell, as a group and individually at character creation, that you must play your alignment. I also am enforcing no PVP, character wish, and no "backstabbing".
With this particular case I would consider two possibilities. Penalise the player or give the player a choice.
If the player is experienced and is playing purely mechanically I would not give the player XP for the encounter and point out that they did not play the character's alignment correctly. This is a straight forward and logical penalty that most folks understand, particular mechanical players. I would also have a discussion with the group at XP time and remind them of alignments.
I use choice as an option when the player has made a "geninue" mistake or you have a beginning player. The choice could be at two times - before the combat allow the player to change their mind (a reload option if you like) or allow the PC to not take XP to keep alignment or take the XP and shift alignment. The latter option could also have a profound effect on divine spellcasters.
In this particular case you as the DM have to make a judgement call. You should know the player and the character. What does it feel like to you? In the scheme of things it is a minor problem. At worst change to true neutral at best a warning. But remember to follow through on your warnings. :)
I live in tropical Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Rocky (local talk) offically has the tropic of Capricorn running through it and is found in land off the Central Queensland coast.
It is hot here... always hot. Nice in winter.
Just writing to inform you that the books and items in this order arrived today. The books are in fantastic condition and no damage.
Keep shipping orders in this fashion!
Merry Christmas.
Just bid to have my 15 minutes of fame... all the best everyone. :)
Let you know how it goes. I kick off table topping on the 30th of December. :)
I will point out that my first order was to get Castle Whitrock from Paizo! :)
Awesome thread.
I started last night with 6 characters and a backup player/DM aide.
I want to make it more challenging for the characters. I wanted to play woth 4 PCs but due to popular demand I have too many players.
I am not going to increase the CR ratings on basic encounters or event the big set ones unless the PCs desire it.
I am planning to make up the short fall of XP woth side adventures, notably some gamemastery modules that are linked and small dungeon crawls. This will help slow the cash flow problem I am developing in purchasing all the books.
Great work on these adaptions. I look forward to implementing them.
It is actually cheap from Goodman Games... If you look right down the bottom on the sale page (http://www.goodman-games.com/store.html) it tells you that the internation shipping on Castle Whitrock is 20USD. Goodman is charging on price purchased not weight. Here is the table
Order Value USA Canada World
$1.00-$19.99 $4.00 $6.00 $10.00
$20.00-$99.99 $5.00 $10.00 $20.00
$100+ Free $20.00 $40.00
My only complaint is that it is 6-8weeks to get international. I ordered stuff and paid via paypal in late November. Contact with Goodman reveals that the items will be shipped off later this week. Since then the Australian dollar has gained 9 US cents... would have saved a bit.
I think the system that your company has adopted is excellent.
I have not posted a review but I have many products that I can.
Keep up the good work Paizo.
People appear to be comparing cityscape and dungeonscape in being similar... they are far from it.
Dungeonscape is far more useful than any of the other environ book if you Dungeon Crawl.

Pming has made the most sense so far.
Sure 1,2,3 or 4ed but a game is a game so long as it is fun no problem. 3.x is an awesome system and if you stick to the three books (PHB, DMG and MM) it is solid. Add all the extras and you find holes... players to into mechanic monsters (2nd D&D DMG had an excellent article about these players) and try and min/max or just max characters. It is exactly what happened to Rolemaster (the first) when options got more adn more powerful.
4ed is just beginning but it will head that way as well. You have to understand that all these extras are to make money for WotC.. they bribe you and cloud your mind with powerful suggestion spells.
Me and my group decided to draw a line in the sand and stay with 3.5. We have a smattering of D&D books from the read box and AD&D1. With the crazy sales on 3.5 stuff and the abundent materials for campaigns and adventures (goodman and paizo to name a few), as a DM I will never have to create my world from scratch again. I don't have the time to invest in that any more and I seriously have a decade of adventures at playing 8 hours a month in that time.
New books don't mean better. No problem in giving it a try... I played it at Gencon in Australia and thought what was the difference between me playing it and a computer game. WotC have even create a month subscription for content just like WoW has a monthly subscription cost. 4e is not table top though the roots of it come from there.
I hope 4th Ed works out for you and I most certainly hope that you and your goup continue to enjoy your tabletopping!
+1 for the Skinsaw murders. Foxclove manison and the surrounds... I can not wait to run this for my play group.
I rate Dungeonscape on the top but that is because prior to kicking off the RotRL campaign I ran Dungeon adventures only. Good altnerate class options and new classes.
I hope that 3 wilderness books will get more of a use as I do more "wilderness" stuff with the paizo content. Frostburn would be my first choice as it seems to have more interesting character options in it.
Cityscape is poor. I would not get unless it was free or near free. Unless you are creating a town/city, not worth getting.
Have a sleep and see how you feel about it afterwards. :)
If memory serves me correctly there are template sheets that can be copied in the back of the DMG 3.5.
Thank you very much Allison for the follow up email and replacement.
I am not sure of the rape and burning part. :)
It is a complete newbie that is playing the barbarian... so tall and silent type.. and probably link to the spirit sharman as he will have some ties to the shoanti (1/2 varisian 1/2 shoanti).
I will keep you post next week as we start then... and I will spend sometime working on the backgrounds for the characters.

Since I have had a few more discussions with the players they had changed their mind and want to all play shoanti barbarians. :)
I talked them down and it looks like:
1/2 elf rogue (escaped to sandpoint)
vairisan archivist (a local)
shoanti barbarian (not sure as to sandpoint connection)
human fighter (academe trained)
human spirit sharman
This order arrived today.
The package was neat and tidy and I was stoked.
When I opened the envolope I could see that the subscription books had been bent causing some minor spine (into the darklands) and corner (elves of golarion) damage. I would suggest sticking a do not bend/fold sticker onto the package in future and some heavy card placed inside to support the books.
It can be limited Purinadragonchow.
The example of the vampire is not strickly true as a DM could take some liberities.
Thanks for the ally definition. The difficulty is that the effects of the bard are very similar but in the PHB they clearly stated that it affects the bard... they omitted that for the archivist.
I am making a ruling for the group that dark knowledge affects the archivist.
As for the spells... the PC is going to multiclass to a focused specialist wizard (Conjuration). He also is going paragon human to take the class skill gather information... so it makes it easier to find magical items. He will get a good selection of spells.. just can not cast that many.
He is thoroughly looking forward to playing the archivist. Should be fun!
That is how it reads Nero and I think it is wrong. None of the dark knowledge effects will benefit an archivist. Seems silly as for the higher level effects they can not get the bonus to Saves...
I think it is a typo myself though there is no errata. I am seriously considering letting the effects work on the archivist. It is the same as Bard except in the PHB the state in brackets once that it effects the bard as well.
Yes.
I noticed this last night. I reposted and about 20 mins later the original post appeared. I deleted the double post of course.
I think the way to fix it is to only give one caster level increase but the player chooses... so you can a divine level or an arcane level.
Because of the crap BAB and saves if you change this you would have to balance it out by giving a metamagic feat every 5 levels and some divine buff class feats every 4 or so levels.
The great leveller is just to have the one caster level increase per level instead of the current two.
Hi all.
Next week I kick off the RotR adventure path. One of the players wants to play an archivist and hope to eventually go archivist/focused specialist wizard/paradon human/mystic theurge.
All good as I am enforcing the restricted schools from acrane across to divine spells. Not that twinkie...
Though I am unsure how dark knowledge works exactly. Most the effects state it works on allies but no mention of effecting the PC. Does things like tactics effect the whole party including the archivist or just the archivists' allies?
BOO!
I am allow my players to play anything from the WotC book but encouraging them to make a character to fit to the players guide. Surprisingly alot of my players want to play half elfs... go figure. ;)
Most went the standard option but one player wanted to run an archivist from the heroes of horror. I think this is a great character idea as it fits in well with the back story.
My group and I bought all the cheap ass 3.5 books and made the decision to never go to 4 ed. There is SO much material for 3.5, more than I and my group could ever play, that there is no need to go to 4th.
I have recently fully subscribed to pathfinder as it is 3.5 and active. All (all that I know) other 3rd party and WotC appear to be going 4th ed. Means less for me to buy and narrows my choices that suit me.
I can not want for the pathfinder society to get up and offical so it can take its place at gaming convenions!

had damaged corners and a badly bowed lid.
Can I get a part refund? I live in Australia and shipping back will cost a heap!
I sent an email previous but have had no response.
Edit: Please note that I have not opened this item yet. I'll send you an email about this. Thank you for the response Allison. Also, thank you for the partial refund.

The silence was deafening for a time.
I am new to Pathfinder. I just signed my soul as I have a regular play group using 3,5 and I am going to run pathfinder with them.
I am back on cards myself... I have been using D&D minis and D&D for a good 2 odd years I guess.
Good to get a good ole welcome!
Boy...
I didnt realise the announcement would have that effect! :)
All this stuff is awesome!
Thank you the the contributors.
Where is Gr4ys? I like his updates and it has been a few months.
I am planning on starting this adventure path in two weeks.
If anyone could email combat maps that would be awesome daleaw@hotmail.com.
Other wise send me links to files and I can download.
Thanks to all you creative types out there for the maps!!!
Just new to the site and now a subscriber cashing in on unneeded minis instead of ebaying sounds very good.
Being internationally based, what is the process? Things like shipping etc.
Yeap. :)
I realised my profile was missing. I fixed that for now.
You most certainly do know me... I know you well enough to know you like to play the malks... "champ" ;)
I was the first Queenslander down there... to NSW and play... well Queensland based. I played Newwie as well...
The mystery continues...
Patience is a virtue. All sorted today.

Would I be correct in this assumption?
Welcome on board. There are a couple of Aussies here from all over.
You are on the mark there Craig.
I convinced them here to create a Queensland time zone... cause everyone knows that daylight savings will fade your curtains!

When I go my subscriptions it has the books down as pending.
I am just wondering if the books are on order and roughly how long it they will be shipped. Depending on when the subscription was made, the offices were closed Thursday, Fri, Sat and Sun due to the holiday. so the order hasn't been created yet if the subscription was made during that time (thats my guess at least) I subscribed Thursday.. explains the issue.
I did not account for the timezone difference.

Gary Teter wrote: This time zone should now be available. Awesome. I changed my settings... now I feel at home. :)
I just signed up and set my account up. Imagine my surprise when then was no Australia/Queensland choice for time settings?!?!
The closest is Australia/NSW which is Eastern Australian Time but they use daylight savings while Queensland does not.
I am wondering if this could be fixed.
