I know... I'd love to get to one of these major conventions, but living in the middle of nowhere, don't have a lot available.. LOL And I thought my son broke his 3GS the other day and I'd have to give him my 4. Which would naturally mean I'd have to upgrade.... but no such luck.... his started working again.. LOL
Masao arrived at the Garrison a bit behind the others. He'd had some issues getting going as he had had a bad night with the dreams of the past day's events. By the time he had gotten downstairs, the rest of the people who had assisted with the battle had left for the garrison. He found it hard to accept the townsfolk's praises as he felt that he had failed for the most part. He took a deep breath and in his thoughts he vowed to move forward, and only learn from his past, not dwell on it. Once at the Garrison, he requested to be shown to the others.
Masao couldn't help but smile at Haley's spiritedness. The young lady's mood was a bit infectious and he felt himself buoyed by them. He nodded when she commented about the running toward the goblins and he felt the need to speak on it. "As a guest in this wonderful town, I felt I was honor-bound to assist my hosts when they were faced with danger. While I many not find pleasure in killing and mayhem, Honor does dictate that a warrior act in a certain way at times. A true warrior takes to conflict head on, but with a mind to how best to survive it, even if that means breaking off and withdrawing. Enlightenment is what a true warrior seeks, not conflict. But should conflict come upon him he must be ready to meet it without hesitation to protect those that may be in his charge, including himself. Does that make sense?" He gestured for a drink as he began speaking and it arrived just as he finished so he picked it up and drank it completely in one drink, setting the mug back on the table firmly.
Masao smiled and nodded as Ameiko called him out (especially as he hadn't seen any other Tian present in town at all).The fact that she was offering a free week's boarding was rather fortuitous as Masao found himself with nearly no coinage in his purse at all. He nodded at Haley's suggestion. "I agree with you on that note. there has been much death recently and I am tired of it. An evening relaxing with one's fighting companions will be a great change. I would greatly enjoy too hearing a few stories to pass the time."
I really didn't mean to take the poor Goblin's head off. I just wanted to KO him in case he might be useful later... lol (usually he die roller isn't that friendly) Although, since I don't have Improved Unarmed Strike, shouldn't that have been non-lethal damage? :) I can live with it though since it makes for an interesting event. :)
Masao looked up from helping one of the townsfolk when he heard his name. Father Zantus had been worried that more goblins would be around and that the townfolk still needed a guardian around. He'd been helping with various difficulties and wound up back near temple square when he heard the woman named Alaren calling out for him. He spotted her with a goblin in her grasp, but the way the goblin was squirming Masao wasn't sure that she would be very successful. Leaving his sword sheathed, he moved up to the goblin and punched it, attempting to knock it out.
I'm ready to jump back in at any point you feel you can work me in... :)
I just want to say I owe everyone a huge apology. Over the last week+ my workload has increased, my family responsibilities have increased and my time for posting has become basically nil. :( The situations involved should be resolved by the end of this week and I would greatly love to continue in this game. However, I do understand if that would not be possible.
Masao's expression was rather sullen as he helped with the cleanup. He'd managed to get cleaned up a bit from the effects of the spell the goblin had used on him, but he couldn't clear out the image of him rolling around laughing while others fought for their lives. He didn't speak to those who thanks him, simply nodding and forcing a smile. He stomped out the fires and kept an eye peeled for any rogue goblins who may still be hanging around.

Does Masao get a Will save each round? Or is it a set time that he's in a spot? :)
Sorry folks, RL has been kicking me like a Soccer Ball at the World Cup Finals. :( I'm trying to catch up this morning....
Masao's eyes widened a bit in surprise and he then smiled as the young lady reminded him of his homeland and it's customs. He returned the bow in traditional fashion, matching her bow in the same manner showing his respect. "Indeed it is Tian. My Sensei would have quality and functionality come first for his students. I am Masao Takeru. I heard many thing of the festival and had to see it for myself. Unfortunately I did not take into account the many costs associated with such a venture, the foremost of which was residing among so many non-Tian. After being here a few days, I feel very much wishing I had not left home." Masao paused a moment as he realized he'd been droning on about matters best forgotten and let a genuine smile appear. "Forgive me. I did not mean to prattle on. You are an innkeeper? I mean no disrespect, but that does seem a bit unusual for a Tian woman. How did that come about?"
Masao watched the festivities from the balcony of the room he'd rented. He'd gotten to Sandpoint several days ago, but the preparation for the festival hadn't quite begun. He'd managed to find a room on the second floor close to the square. He'd spent nearly all his remaining funds on it, but being able to relax and just step out to watch while being close to his items. As the festivities began and the announcements of the various games took place, none of the announced games seemed to catch his attention. However, when his stomach began making noises of hunger, the smells of the treats being fixed for the crowd began to take hold and he smiled. Taking up his sword, he made sure the peacebond was in place and walked down the stairs toward the vendors. He had to sidestep a female dwarf leaving the foods for the Goblin Toss, and smiled as he watched a bunch of children gathered around what appeared to be a halfling entertaining them. How much different this seemed than his home. He shook his head to get the idea of home out of his mind. Softly to himself he muttered "No sense thinking about that, it's going to be quite a while before you can return..."

Hi all! Maseo's background is on his profile and there are a couple of places it could be expanded. I see it as in his father's journal there was mention of traveling in the Inner Sea regions. Maybe there is a tie-in with someone else's background? I should have his crunch done a bit later this afternoon as well.
Correct. While a typical Samurai uses a mount, the Sword Saint is more focused on his weapon and less concerned with mobility. A different campaign I might find more of a use for a mount, I think this concept works better without. :) Thank you for the opportunity! :) I'll hop over to the other thread and go from there :)
After careful consideration, Masao will be a Samurai(Sword Saint). Since the Samurai is an alternate class of the Cavalier, he'll be giving up at least a mount companion for it. Which I could live with. :) I also see some of his father's journals covering travels in the Inner Sea, and he only discovers that after he's already on the way. So even though his parents are long dead, he still is getting the feeling they are watching over him for the better.
Ok, I'm interested :) This is the character background I'd like to use, but I haven't decided what class to go yet, Samurai, Fighter or Monk. I'd welcome any thoughts or input. :)
All.... As much as I love the entire concept of this game, my mindset is just not where it needs to be to be a creative addition to the group. :( I'm afraid I have to withdraw. I definitely will be lurking around and watching, and if in the future a position opens back up I hope I am in a position to reapply then. :)

"Did I leave my mandolin back there?" Saburo feigned shock. "I do apologize. I never intended to make it difficult for you. I shall truly endeavor to improve on my knowing where I keep my things. You do know it was just so I could have you close and enlighten me with your mere presence. That is always a highlight of my day." He took the mandolin and began strumming a few notes. He nodded to Mag's question. "Just a bit of bread and honey for now. Just a small bit of something..... "
As the sun came up, an observer looking at the beach to the north of Sandpoint would see the sight of a young human, apparently fighting off invisible attackers. He would turn, slash with a short sword (apparently a Tien style sword) and kick in the opposite direction. He would move as if he were blocking a blow, and make an acrobatic move to throw himself to the side in a crouch as he thrust the sword forward. As this went on for several tens of minutes, the young man finally paused and sheathed the sword, kneeling and meditating for another few minutes before rising and walking toward the Rusty Dragon. Saburo entered the Dragon with a smile, looking around at all the gathered people. Seeing Magdelia taking care of things he figured Ameiko was handling other business. He took a seat near the corner he spotted Hiro as he entered and smiled. Hiro was a couple of years older than Saburo, and they'd always gotten along pretty well. Well, as well as two could get along when it was obvious that one had a crush on the other's sister. But then, Hiro has apparently never mentioned it to Ameiko, so I do owe him for that. Saburo ended that thought with a smile and waved to Hiro "Hiro! come sit." He smiled at Magdelina. "Mag, I'll take care of Hiro's whatever for this morning. Did I leave my mandolin back there? I feel like some music this morning, and I'm sure others might enjoy it too. Besides, I need the practice." He grinned, waiting a response.
(Arknight here. I've redone Saburo's background to make his Childhood Crush trait work better. :) Also, I'd like to redo him as a Ninja. Can I go ahead and do it with the Playtest version until I can get the full UC to reference? I'll be posting my roleplay here later this afternoon..... been kind of crazy.... LOL)

Cool concept, but I feel like agile maneuvers is a bit wasted on a rogue. Have you considered taking weapon finesse instead? A net plus 2 to hit could be invaluable when going for a sneak attack. Finesse is actually what I meant to take. I'd considered Agile Maneuvers, and changed my mind to Finesse. I just forgot to change it on the sheet. Thanks for pointing out that suggestion. It's now corrected. :)
