Biography:
Marton lived in Restov all his life, a son of a simple blacksmith and a seamstress. Always looking up to swordsmen and wizards, he admired both the powers of a weapon and the ability of wizards to shape reality and accomplish the impossible. He applied for both schools, in hopes that he could somehow be a good warrior and a competent wizard. He was scorned by both sides for the other choice, wizards calling warriors mindless brutes who are only good for hacking things, and warriors calling wizards stuck up bastards who think they are oh so smart.
In the end, dismayed by the obvious disrespect both sides had for each other, Marton decided not to be either and abandoned the concept of becoming either a fighter or a wizard. He returned to the peaceful life working in his father's smithy.
And then, one night, there was a fire and both his parents were badly burned. His father got blinded and lost and arm while he tried to save his equipment from being destroyed, and his mother lost the use of her legs when a falling beam snapped her back.
After several weeks of inquiry and a lot of gold spent on informants,Marton found out that the fire was set by a local thief and murderer named Soran Bef, who did it on account of unpaid debts.
Marton immediately went to fighter's college to re-apply, but on the way there, he was stopped by his uncle, a wizened old magus who offered to train him if he didn't go after the murderer. His uncle has heard what happened to his father and came back to Restov to take care of business.
Marton agreed and the two trained, untill he finaly became what he always wanted, a warrior, but also a wizard. Then, through some informants, he found out that Bef was hiding across the border in a completely untamed and unclaimed region of river kingdoms, not too far from Brevoy. Then he found out about the charter from the swordlords. He packed his things, and not telling his uncle the real reason he is going, departed for Oleg's trading post. Soran Bef, you better say your prayers.
Personality
Marton is a kind soul, he will not hurt anybody who doesn't deserve it. He is somewhat of a compulsive gambler and will rarely shy from a game of dice or cards, especially if taunted. He loves women, and can sometimes be a little pushy, and thus has not courted many women. He hopes that his lady wooing skills will increase over time. He is friendly to anyone who doesn't give him a reason to do otherwise and will give most people the benefit of the doubt. If he sees children being molested, he goes berserk.
Physical Appearance
Marton is a tall man, standing six feet five inches from the ground. His reddish hair is always short and usualy in a "crew" cut. He has freckles (especially during summer months) and is very aware of them. He thiks that the freckles are the reason people keep treating him like a child, but the true answer is that he looks younger then he is. He is neither fat nor thin. He usually wears his cloak draped over his armor and is dressed for efficiency and comfort, not appearance.
