(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"This just feels wrong, the ship was sunk, then this girl finds coins on the water front, and from Pai's reaction I'm thinking she believes the incidents are related. If this disease is related to the sinking of the ship and spreading infection via the coins, then some serious justice needs to be meted out!"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"10 minutes, this is the longest I've seen this sot for the last 4 nights...C'mon Donagar, let's sober you up enough so you know what's going on..."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Off Camera:

Marra is having a chat with Vencarlo when the bells go off. He urges her to go investigate. So she races out of the door and up the street to the north.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Perhaps if one of you escorts them, while the others trail? I'm sure Chiirip will be a scout for you."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"That makes sense, since I met the queen, I'm sure I might be a suspect now that her attitude has shifted..."

And if Sabina recognized me at the execution she thinks to herself

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"I think Don has trouble sneaking because his pack is always clinking with beer bottles...though sometimes he brings pony kegs...If we're all ready, we should go. "

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Aye, thank you Donagar for the suggestion, after those Derro, we needed this, fighting in the dark is for the dwarves..."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Yes time is of the essence, I for one don't want to be around if these Gray Maidens come calling."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

@Donagar

"Actually you are the biggest tipper, Donagar, in that you tip in silver, not copper, and once in a while a few gold pieces."

Marra laughs and says, "Probably color blind when he's drunk...he's a dwarf afterall..."

No one asked anything of the Field marshall (to get their rewards to bring them in line with equipment...new characters are good of course)

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

No worries from Marra...yet

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Nik'o eyes widen in fear as it is becoming clear to her that something is wrong beyond the obvious death of the King. Her problem is still though, that she can't clearly see where the truth lies.

She ponders Marra's words for a moment, then asks: "Wait... Are you saying this as a good thing or a bad thing Marra? I mean, we are saying that Blackjack might stand on the good side, but he's the one who saved the Queen's Guard (Tien word used again, but badly pronounced) Sabina. But she's bad then, no? So what does that make Blackjack?"

Someone I want to talk to!

"She was just a girl then, I'm sure BlackJack tried to help her become a better person, but she was evil to the core."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra listens intently to the newcomer's claims.

"There's something amiss, what was your name? Gregor? I met with the Queen just after the King's death, he attitude has changed since then, now she's even calling for a new Guard, I believe I heard that they're being called the Gray Maidens. Hellknights are not corrupt, they enforce Laws, regardless of Justice, in the name of Asmodeus. I enforce Justice, regardless of laws, in the name of Iomedae. Two edges of the same blade. I remember BlackJack saved one of Lamm's lambs from Lamm himself when I was 8, I wish it had been me he saved that day...I still don't know what happened to that girl, she was pretty good with a blade. Almost...as good as..." she drifts into introspection for a moment..."That scar...Blackjack saved Sabina, she wasn't named Sabina then, but it was her...The Queen's Guard, Karrinda is what she was called then, she loved to torture rats, cats, even...the others. She was a wicked one...How did she end up the Queen's Guard?"

Yes, that little twist I just came up with...heh...I like it...

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Y'know Donagar, if you weren't a dwarf, I'd think you were actually joking about challenging BlackJack...in the middle of his rescue of an innocent. I don't know if you watched the way Blackjack moved, I did, you have as much chance of defeating him in a duel as I have of out drinking you...Did you seriously think he'd duel you during the rescue?"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra looks to the newcomer.

"Who's this lovely creature you dredged up Donagar?"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Justice Drakus. Justice"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Drakus! The Queen is attempting to deceive the public by executing an innocent, BlackJack returns, and look the guards are stunned into inaction. Fine let's move, Blackjack seems to have saved the victim. Fine "arrest me" drag me outta here...no one will know the difference."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra looks confused by the action, but steels herself, the Queen had earlier looked right over her as if she hadn't recognized her. Marra realizes which side she will take, and raises her crossbow toward the Queen and lets a bolt fly. Sabina Marrin catches the movement a second before and neatly cuts the bolt in half, then raises her blade and points it at Marra.

"This isn't over Usurper! Iomedae will deliver justice, IOMEDAE!!!"Marra shouts

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Mai Asta Isabella wrote:
still waiting for Q or do I act now?

Yes, Cue Mai

Note: this is written as a story teller type of cinematic scene, feel free to go into storytelling mode, and almost anything is fair game, (no killing the Queen, or other major character), but Donagar for example bowling over guards as he rushes the stairs is fine.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Well, the Field Marshall sent us to observe. Let's see what the Queen is up to.

Anyone have knowledge nobility?

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"I think you forget this was once a Chelish city, remember the recent conversion to Asmodeus and it's easy to see how these nobles turn out in droves to watch a commoner beheaded for the murder of a King."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra points out Sabine, the Queen's personal guard, and former student of your friend Vencarlo Orsini. She also points out the many Hellknights patrol the crowd, obviously looking for threats to the Queen.

You note at least 3 patrols working the crowd.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Drakus:

"Yeah, everything's in order, I came back here after the meeting with Kroft. Vencarlo dropped in around the midnight bell. It's obviousl the Queen is going to execute someone who isn't Trinia, I don't call that justice. I met the Queen a couple weeks ago before the new crew that Kroft assembled joined me. I'd like to meet her again with Iomedae's increasing favor."

Panish, Donagar what were you guys doing over the evening? We have the keys to the manor house, Marra stayed in Zellara's with Trinia.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

No prob Panish, I got someone lined up, he want's to play a female ninja perhaps. So a skill monkey.

"Were we betrayed? Was Trinia taken?" Marra asks in a near panic, she'd grown to respect the young lass over the hours they were able to talk.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Because they obviously want to party with the famed Donagar of Cayden Calien, thus they cry because they can't yet throw themselves at your feet your holiness..Marra rolls her eyes and intones with the most sarcastic tone possibly, fully expecting the dwarf's ego to not realize it's sarcasm...LOL, just how I envision Marra reacting to Donagar's reaction...

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Panish, Duck!

She then recocks the repeater and fires at Cabbagehead.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
1d10 ⇒ 7

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra looks at the former guard with a bit of disdain.

"There are people in those pits Drakus, get to fighting or get outta my way. I recognize this type of beast, ogrekin, not much more civilized that an ogre, and we know what they can be like."

Marra levels her repeater, lets loose but the bolt hits the creature, and kinda, just, falls out.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
1d10 ⇒ 4

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra casts detect magic. "Oh, there are a few items here with a magical dweomer"

Then you hear a distant groan to the south that echoes through the complex, followed by a booming shout.

She grabs the wand and strips the robe from the derro, as well as stripping a ring off his finger. She also grabs a MW dagger, and a few vials.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"I've heard tales of creatures that can create darkness at will, though I'm not sure these creatures are one of those, it would appear. I hear them grappling now, I dare not fire into the dark."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"If only we could see! Donagar come out here! Don't fight it alone"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra begins to realize what Panish is doing, and calls out in a booming voice, that only an inquisotor can master. "Foul creature of the depths, you shall not pass this day, you shall fall and forever be forgotten amongst your own kind as well as ours, none shall sing your name, as none shall know it."

Intimidate1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 4 = 26 (DC18) had to add the size bonus in there. Med vs. Small = +4 to intimidate

You all hear the little psychotic's voice break and stagger in it's insane mumbling, not for long, but the seeds of doubt have been placed. Shaken 1rd+1rd for beating it by 5 or more.(could have been 5 rounds had I rolled high enough)

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra will attempt to fire her crossbow again into the darkness, as thestone bolt skips off the earthen ceiling.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Miss Chance odd hits1d2 ⇒ 1

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Iomedae, guide my this bolt to my enemy." Even in the dark the bolt strikes home, the sound of flesh tearing as the bolt impacts the derro.

1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 4 = 20
Miss Chance odd hits, 1d2 ⇒ 1
1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra pronounces judgment of destruction on the the derro (swift action) as she raises her crossbow to fire. The bolt skips off the ceiling.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"By Iomedae, let's hope this is the last of them..."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Indeed, they do seem to be clearing the path quite well.

Marra loads her repeater regardless. She then casts true strike on herself.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"I think we're still missing an arm...plus it's our duty to make sure this den of madness is eradicated."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"I don't know Drakus. Marra says in a whisper,"is it waiting for us to get closer?"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Agreed Panish, these documents must be secured, though many I'm sure are available at the Acadamae."

on to the next room then? Actually now would be the time to level up I think.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"These books will have to be removed from here, though it seems to be several loads worth, we can't let them fall into the hands of other evil doers."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Another part of Ghaeken, his arm, looks like the construct was using it as a club...

You inspect both the pantry that the carrion golem was imprisoned in, and the workshop, not much is useful except the repeating crossbows that the derro had, and the odd injection spear that the alchemist had.

(if I run this again, he will be a full blown alchemist, heh.)

Donagar make a perception check for me please, using stonecunning.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Hit him again Drakus! That was one of them...his aura flickered pretty good after that impact."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

[i]Marra levels the crossbow and fires at the uninjured derro as Donagar finishes off the second one..

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
1d10 ⇒ 7

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Panish, Drakus you're getting closer, no more to your left, no right!"

Both are swinging at air

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra continues to concentrate detecting 3 auras, one begins to fade...

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Panish feel free to Play Aliandara for the rest of this adventure as well. We'll figure out what to do with her after that.

Marra will use detect evil this round. The way I see it, if you detect an aura, you should be able to know where that aura is to shoot, takes two rounds to detect an aura, after that I don't see any reason not to allow that as a use.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra springs into action, in the a non-movement sort of way as she levels her repeater and lets loose a bolt and recox it.

The bolt slams home just below the things eye, not quite destroying the eye.

mechanix:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
1d10 ⇒ 8

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 confirm? oh I think she'll go ahead and use that harrow re-roll for a dex roll (The one I've fogotten about since the beginnning of the game...oops...See DM X profile for the Harrow point uses

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Confirmed
1d10 ⇒ 5

Fort Save1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"Bah, I can give as good as the next bloke!"

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

Marra looks at the prints again, then a look of realization crosses her face...

"By Iomedae's Blade! You're right, so a berserk creature made from corpses perhaps? Panish is correct, it must be destroyed, imagine if it were let loose in the city..."

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 4)

"What would be an abomination Panish, I can't understand anything Don said other than golem...how is that an abomination? They're merely crafted."

AKA Donagar didn't mention corpse variant flesh golem
