Markum was the result of an illicit romance between a varisian explorer and a shoanti tribeswoman. When the relationship was discovered, Markum’s father was killed and his mother ran and hid at her father’s home. When Markum was still a toddler, she became ill and never recovered, leaving him to be raised by his grandfather.
Grandfather, a druid himself, taught him the Ways and Markum has recently passed his final Ordeal. Grandfather has sent him out to spend time with his father’s people. Markum has come to Sandpoint to find them. In addition, Markum is considering making the area his protectorate. Like him, it is young still and he might be able to help guide it’s growth.
