About Markel

Markel is the son of wealthy Taldan merchant from the city of Oppara. His parents Domitian and Viviana made sure that as their only child that he wanted for nothing. He attended the finest schools, wore the trendiest of fashions and learned how to play the high society games that the wealthy and elite do. In his teens, he would accompany his father on busniness trips to the town of Wispil in the Verduran Forest where he would broker deals for timber used in creating ships for the Taldan navy. It was during these trips that Markel came to befriend a local human ranger, Devlon Farrell, who regaled him with tales of life in the wilderness. For the next several years, Markel would pester his father to allow him to apprentice to Devlon, but Domitian would not allow his only son to stoop to that level. He was insistent that he join his father in the family business.

In his 18th year, Markel fled his family home to join his would be mentor in Wispil. At first Devlon assumed that Markel had come with the permission of his father, but when Domitian sent agents to Wispil hunting for his son, they threatened and intimidated the locals. Devlon knew he had come without his father's blessing. At Devlon's urging, he sent Markel to Absalom to petition the Pathfinder Society to accept him as one of their recruits and learn of their ways and the way of rangers. Devlon's association with the Pathfinder Society was not the only secret that he had kept from his would be apprentice...
