Character Background
Malleon's parents, Elegost and Kendra Harper, were scholars and members of the Pathfinders. They often took Malleon to exotic, but less dangerous, locations as a child, such as Magnimar. When they went to more dangerous location, such as the Storval Plateau or Riddleport, they left Malleon with old family friends.
However, on one expedition to the Lands of Linnorn Kings in the far North, Elegost and Kendra did not return.
The newly orphaned teenage Malleon was raised by his parent's friends, themselves adventurers. It was therefore somewhat natural given his heritage and upbringing that Malleon began pestering his new "family" for training in the ways of being an adventurer.
Now 20 and recently finished his initial training, Malleon has an argument with his mentors about his readiness to adventure. They left on an adventure to Kaer Maga on an adventure and ordered Malleon to remain behind in Korvosa to continue practicing and training his skills.
Determined to prove them wrong, Malleon instead journeys to Falcon's Hollow, in search of an adventure to prove himself after hearing rumors of the dark monsters that lurk in (or under) Darkmoon Vale & Droskar's Crag.
Personality Traits
Insecurity Despite being outwardly confident to the point of arrogance in almost all aspects, Malleon is deeply insecure. Being abandoned by his parents on multiple occasions, then orphaned, and now being "rejected" by his new family, Malleon pushes himself in almost every situation to impress people and gain friends. This could manifest in competing for attention during a social situation, or in drawing the attention of his comrades before attempting a difficult shot or manuever, when perhaps a simpler move would have sufficed for the situation.
Impulsive Malleon is brash and quick to react without fully considering a situation. In part this is due to an overwhelming confidence in his own abilities, and also in part due to a need to be a "hero" and impress people. Also, Malleon was raised by Pathfinders and adventurers, so he was weaned on tales of heroes and adventure, which certainly contributes to his attitude.
