Madeline will offer an arm to Valen's wonderful, gentlemanly offer of helping her to the boats.

Madeline steps delicately into the small wooden coracle on offer and sits primly, if a little stiffly, in the very center. Hardy seeming even to breath as the group makes its way to the 'Boneyard'.

Once there, she can't but help to begin taking notes again,

"Fascinating..." She points with the end of her pencil,

"I say? What's that? Over there?" She indicates the,

"Large nest built of sodden swamp wood sits high in the boughs of a trio of tangled trees on the northwest side of the isle."

She looks about for Alexa..

Madeline takes notes as per Alexa's information, though she does glance at the other woman,

Trying to gauge the truth in her words. Though, since Alexa has never been one to exaggerate before Madeline has no reason to doubt her 'Wilder' colleague. Madeline frowns...

"Um...excuse me?" She looks for the fellow that first addressed them as they walked into 'Town',

"What do you mean by," She looks back at her notes, " 'And we runned it off...' ?" Madeline asks, seeking more information for clarification.

Madeline finishes her notes and steps closer to Alexa,

"What manner of creatures is this..." She slides her pencil along her lines of test, "Um... 'Caiman'?" She asks, ready to add a definition to the page.

Madelie pulls out her pencil and pocket book, beginning to quickly scribble notes as information is divulged....

Madeline 'huffs' at Valen's aspersions, even as she adjusts the black silk scarf which keeps her midnight tresses protected.

"Perhaps the traveling caravan we spent time with on our way to Lepidstadt might wend its way through here occasionally?" Madeline asks, even as she indicates for her servant to help her down.

"Master Kaleb and his traveling troupe?"

Madeline sits atop her horse and looks for where the establishments are that one might retire to, stable said animals etc...

Madeline frowns,

"Who...having some control over the Beast and having been involved in a reasonably high profile assault on the University will probably be quite deep in hiding..." She taps her lips with the end of her pencil as she continues to slowly pace around the room (Carefully) thinking and observing...

"Where might such a person have been that they would stand out? Who might be the best to ask about such a person arriving in town?" Madeline asks.

"Well...we know the golem is just a construct...Even if it does seem to posses some striking qualities... So, it would be a good bet that the fiends of the Whispering Way might be behind the whole endeavor here..." Madeline says...though she continues to look thoughtful.

"Of course, this leads back to what nefarious ends might said group want with an obscure effigy...." She glances around at every one else, "This doesn't help with our current, primary, investigations into the charges laid against the golem." She sighs.

Madeline looks at the window....and thinks about the size of the creature.

Would it actually fit? She nods and offers a smile in thanks at the good Doctor's words.

Thinking of something else she goes looking for any brass which has been recently polished within the room.

Madeline looks around, trying to gauge how the monster actually got in...

"If the guards had to break through the door..." She muses quietly to herself...moving to stand under the broken window, looking u at it thoughtfully...

"Well...beeswax would smell like beeswax." Madeline points out, then begins to search for the source of the smell.

"The question is 'What has caused the smell of beeswax...'."

While she searches the room, Madeline will also ask about the source of the green bottle, its contents etc. As well as for more information about the item which is missing....

Madeline glances up from the item that' captured her interest.

"Hmm? What?" She blinks, then quickly consults with Smith about what was said by the others -even as she scribes more notes into her small pocket book.

"Hmmm....broken window. Glass on the inside. Door showing signs of entrance. Smell of Bee's wax. Scrap of cloth on remnants of glass in window frame...." She mumbles over her notes looking to her companions for confirmation, while herself beginning to move about the room trying to look at things in a new light.

Madeline edges closer to the 'Beast, clearing intrigued by it's words and manner of speech. She continues to glance towards master Grafft, following his educated understandings of such things.

Madeline arches an eyebrow and looks quizzically at Master Grafft.

"Are such arcotronics supposed to show sentience?" She asks him.

"Since it just referred to itself in the first person." She steps closer, intrigued by this new development...

Madeline steps back at the creature's outburst.

Given its state, she has no real interests in examining it any closer. She steps closer to Master Grafft.

"You say this is a construct? A mechanism created by magic? I admit that in my home country, animated constructs are possible but not very common Please, tell me more of such." She asks.

Madeline makes a slight noise of disgust,

"Is there no way to clean the thing?" She asks, hand and hanky still covering her nose and mouth.

Madeline holds a hanky to her nose, the best she can do against the miasma which wafts about the dungeon.

Upon confronting the creature she looks at it clinically and intently,

Madeline, followed by Smith, moves into the room. Giving Master Kaple a polite nod as she settles demurely into one of the 'client' chairs.

(Assuming the office is big enough for such...And/Or there is enough room for the party to have this meeting in confidence. To make room Smith can be allowed to remain outside.)

At Master Grafft's words she politely nods as well to indicate her agreement with helping in the case.

Madeline nods, offering a slight smile to the clerk. She looks to her companions though, herself being foreign, she awaits their actions.

Madeline nods, briefly touching the brim of her hat in acknowledgment to the guards.

Once inside, she of course removes her hat, holding it in one hand while her eyes adjust to the darker interior of the building. She absently brushes a strand of hair back under the scarf which holds her tresses in place as she looks around.

"Indeed. We are here in regards to business with Master Kaple." She informs them succinctly.

Madeline has been developing her own skills to build her own weapon in the future.

Actually Ustalav is rather well developed for the nascent gun maker, They have a noted clock work type industry in the town we're in. Clock work type parts being a major item in gun making. Bell (As in church bell) molding skills are the precursor to developing barrels. The fine gears and the skills to make such help with the firing mechanism.

For now, however, I'm/Madeline is just putting together existing things. The Alchemist's Bottled Lightning and the cross bow.

Madeline's idea.

So...eventually I would like Madeline and Mr Smith to be wielding Fire-arms.

I'm also quite happy for this to be some time in the future when their mechanics etc are not seen as over powerful.

Until then I've had an idea.

There is an alchemical item called Bottle'd Lightning

Mounting said item onto the bits and pieces of masterwork cross bow that the party has found would make for an interesting, thematic (Weird science) type weapon. Am quite happy to pay for little 'extra' bits of clockwork to make the item functional, but basically a 'Lightning gun'. (^_^)

Sorry, still a little too busy to post. Madeline would be polite, diplomatic, etc towards the Lady of the house. While also enjoying the wonders of civilized comfort again. There is also the matter of the Late Professor's will and the amount of remuneration mentioned within?

Hopefully the chatty item will be taken graciously in the present company?

It was the Professor's last request, so yes...hand the book over to the Lady Daramid. That is my vote.

Madeline Watches seemingly impassively, still seeming in thought.

"That the Lady Daramid should receive said book is known as it was written out in the will..." Madeline points out.

"The Professor trusted the Lady and I feel we should as well." She nods her head to the Lady Daramid to show her respect fort the other woman.

Madeline listens intently to the conversation as people explain the current goings on. Currently she is thinking...and thoroughly enjoying the tea.

Madeline gives a small curtsey upon meeting the Dame at her front door. Upon being invited to enter Madeline walks quietly along with every one, taking an indicated seat when offered.

Madeline accepts the tea gratefully, fully enjoying the flavor and aroma. When the Dame mentions Harrowstone and the Professor's passing Madeline scowls.

"There was more than the late Professor's passing involved at that place." She says bluntly.
