Hey all, I'm sorry my posting rate has been really slow lately. Work just fired one of our consultants and everyone's been really busy picking up the slack. Hopefully everything should slow down in the nest week or so if you can bear with me.

Thank you all and after much handwringing and hemming and hawing over the final decision I've chosen the following three people to join the crusade to free Kelmarane from the clutches of the gnolls who inhabit it.

Tassadan- Sonja Velfieren- Human Cleric (Theologian)
Alexander Michaels- Turok the Wanderer- Human Druid (Desert)
Mihajlo Velickovic- Badharkân- Human Ranger (Guide)

As for the rest of you thank you for make a difficult decision all the more harder. There are plenty of good characters here that hopefully someone will take heed of you all and decide to run a LoF campaign of their own.

The discussion thread is linked at the top of this page so please make your way over there and introduce yourselves and I'll try to get this game underway tomorrow.

Hey, it's me again.
Just wanted to tell you that I'm waiting on input from the returning players before finalizing my selections.
Good news is that I've already decided on two of the three palyers just waiting for a quorum on the third. Once I have all three in mind I'll post them here.
Bad news is that I'm going downtown with my daughter to do a little Daddy/Daughter bonding at Navy Pier and the Shedd Aquarium so I won't be home until later this evening.
I'll keep track of everything via my phone, but don't know if I'll have anything to post til later.

So this is a post to tell you I have nothing to post, sorry. Just trying to keep everyone informed.

Thank you for your patience.

Welcome weary travelers to the Caravanserai. A place to rest and relax in safety while you discuss the events of the day. Why don't you settle down and tell me a little about yourself while I serve refreshments to help slake your thirst and my staff removes the dust and sand from your garments. So sit back, relax, and enjoy. Try the dates, they're delicious!

Please take this opportunity to describe your characters to each other and work out any other details you wish to discuss as well as finalize any last minute purchases. You will each be given the loan a horse or camel of your choice, if you haven't already purchased one, as well as a riding kit for said animal to use for your journey to Kelmarane.

If I've missed anyone, please let me know before the 9 o'clock deadline.

Just a quick heads up. I have a meeting to go to this evening at 6 o'clock and probably won't be home until after 9:00. So I'm going to extend the submission deadline until 9 o'clock tonight. Which means I probably won't have the final decisions posted until tomorrow morning or afternoon at the latest.

@Velos the Merry- Yeah, sure. SM III sounds like a good fit for them.

@Wolfman1911- Garulk's Charisma is too low, it needs to be bumped up one point.
From the original post:
• Abilities: Characters will be based on the High Fantasy (20 point) buy, found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 16. No ability can be raised higher than 18 (prior to racial modifiers). Only one ability may be lowered below 10 and that ability cannot be lowered below 8 (prior to racial modifiers).

Christopher Rowe wrote:
Wow, looks like I should have gone with that cleric of Iomedae after all!

There is still time. I'm not restricting anyone to only one submission. If anyone wants to make multiple submissions in an attempt to increase their chances, please do so.

Okay, as promised here's the list of characters submitted so far and the roles that they (at least to my mind, YMMV) fit in.

As always, If I've missed anyone please let me know and I'll add you to the list.

@Transylvanian Tadpole- Sounds interesting. I look forward to your completed character sheet.

@.Syn.- I understand. Good luck and have a Happy New Year.

@MacabreEidolon- Looks good.

@Lumiere Dawnbringer- Looks good

@shadur- Looks good. I like it better than the Urban Barbarian route.

I hope to have a roster of submitted characters up later this afternoon with their various "roles" (Arcane, Divine, Martial, Skilled, etc...) for everyone to see.

@.Syn.- I'm a little confused by your character, it doesn't look complete. There are two classes and two archetypes listed there. Are you going to multiclass with both those classes (Ninja/Inquisitor)? Are those archetypes the ones you're going with in those classes? As stated above Ninjas cannot take the Knife master archetype as it replaces Trapfinding and Trap sense (niether of which the Ninja gets).

@Asta Blackheart & Amestri Perixunin- Both characters look good.

@Badharkân- Looks good

@Adad Elazar- Also looks good

@Shadur- Half elves can take Ancestral Weapon alternate racial trait and take EWP with a single weapon. I'll allow Rich Parents. The starting benefit will soon fade as characters level up.

@Crazy Hedgehog- In my campaigns Animal companions start out with average HP's or above. Roll it's Hit Dice and if below the average raise them to average, anything over average stays as rolled. Yes, both traits can come from the Player's Guide, but one must be a Campaign trait.

@Lumiere Dawnbringer- Any alternate racial traits are acceptable replacements. Is the footman meant to be a warrior or an expert NPC? If the former use the heroic NPC array, if the latter use the basic array. Yes Magical knack is okay.

@Cuàn- Let me know when your character is finalized.

@Durant- Good luck

@Munya- Looks good

Okay, I think that catches me up. If I've missed someone let me know and I'll review your character and post any questions I may have.

It's been a busy day and I haven't had time to go over the new submissions yet But I will get to them later and post any questions I have.
Just to give everyone a heads up, as I stated the first paragraph of this recruitment thread I sent PM"s to my original players from my last attempt to run this AP and gave them the right of "First Refusal". So far three of them have responded that they wish to play. They are:
Badi Al'Mukhabat Nabih Ka'im Human Wizard (Conjurer)
Marossa Human Bard
Nasir ibn Al'Said Human Paladin (Sacred Servant)
To compensate for these returnees, somewhat, I'm going to increase the party's size from five to six characters. It'll mean more work for me adjusting the challenges but it'll be worth it.

@Nylissa- Layali looks good. As long as there is no mechanical differences you can call your abilities by whatever name you wish to.

@King_Of_The_Crossroads- Recruitment is open until 6:00 pm (CST) on Wedenesday January 2nd.

@Lathar Mendo- Looks good so far.

@wolfman1911- Any of those would work.

@Dark Netwerk- I'd have to look over the Aasimar variants, but right now I don't see any problems right now. I would hope to keep to at least one post a day, but sometimes RL get in the way, If anyones going to be absent for an extended time please let me know. Yes I will be using some maps along with narration.

@Christopher Rowe- The Player's Guide is actually listed as a Player's Companion. There is no free download available. You can find the Companion listed Here.

@Gunk- If selected you will need to de-level your character back down to 1st level and tone down your stats to fit a 20 point buy.

@LurkingTyranny- Sounds good. I look forward to your submission.

@Cuan- I'm good with the Dawnflower Dissident.

@gresch555- Sounds good, although I think Bard (Archaeologist) seems a better fit than Rogue. Are his parents still alive or are they truly dead?

@Lumiere Dawnbringer- I think the Elf or the Ifrit would be better thematically as I can't see an Undine deliberately being in a desert enviroment.

@Tassadan- Those substitutions are okay.

@dolgren- Recruitment closes at 6:00 pm CDT on Wednesday January 2nd.

@Grom Gnollsbane- Looks good.

@Bad Man
The background you gave is just fine. There is no need to go into the crunch part of your build just yet. As long as I have an idea where your character is coming from.

@Jarva
As I stated above, all I'm really interested in right now is background more than any specific build. If selected there will be plenty of time to readjust your build to specifics.

@.Syn.
Bleeding attack- Your SA must do damage in order for the bleed effect to kick in. Damage reduced to zero by DR does not qualify. Once the bleed effect kicks in though DR would not apply.
Disposable/Splintering weapon feats- Since both feats apply the "boken" condition to a weapon I would rule that only one of them would apply to any given weapon. However the bleed damage from the Splintering Weapon feat would *not* stack with your bleeding attack special ability.

@Seranov- While I'm not fond of the Summoner class either if you can come up with a background that wows my socks off I'll consider it. I hate to limit people's creativity with my biases.

@Majestic8705- I see no problem with the dip to get CE for free. I've seen worse dips.

@Bomlicar- I see no problem with your build, but you may want to rework his background to account for being in Katapesh intead of Sandpoint.

@Thaddicus- You will need de-level your character and rework your stats to suit my guidelines if selected. The reason I only allow one stat below 10 is to prevent players from gutting some of a characters stats to benefit others.

Welcome and Happy Holidays everyone,
I was originally running this AP before RL issues got in the way and I turned it over to another GM. It looks like that campaign has since become inactive so I'm going to reboot the adventure and start again. I have since sent PM's to the original players to see if any of them are still interested. If any of them respond they will have "dibs" on any open spots.
Other than that, I’m looking for five players for an upcoming Legacy of Fire PbP game I’ll be running. Recruitment will be open from now until 6:00 pm, Wednesday January 2nd.

Now for the fun part, the rules:
Races: All standard races from the Pathfinder Core Rulebook will be allowed. Any other PC race will be considered on a case by case basis.
Classes: All classes from PFRPG core rulebook plus those from the Advanced Player's Guide (APG), Ultimate Combat (UC), and Ultimate Magic (UM) will be allowed. Any Archetype for these base classes (again from the APG, UM, or UC) will be allowed.
Alignment: Characters can be of any Good or Neutral alignment. No evil alignments please, unless you can play well with others.
Abilities: Characters will be based on the High Fantasy (20 point) buy, found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 16. No ability can be raised higher than 18 (prior to racial modifiers). Only one ability may be lowered below 10 and that ability cannot be lowered below 8 (prior to racial modifiers).
Feats: Any feat from the Core Rulebook, APG, UM, or UC will be acceptable. Any 3.5 or 3PP material you wish to use will have to be approved by me prior to acceptance.
Traits: Character's will start with two traits, one of which MUST be from the Legacy of Fire Player's Guide. Those selecting the Finding Haleen trait much choose between the two options of either +1 hit point or +1 skill point every level in addition to any other Favored Class options.
Hit Points: Characters will start out with Maximum hit points for their class at 1st level. After 1st level character's will roll for their hit points or take the average of their particular hit dice, whichever is greater.
Starting Gold: Characters will start with Maximum starting gold for their base class as found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 140, or in the APG on page 26.

Right now I'm looking for character concepts and background information on said character (it can be as detailed or as vague as you want (From a few lines to a full blown character profile. Just remember the more information I have the more I can make an informed decision about who will eventually join the game).
That's about all I can think of for now, but please feel free to post any particular questions you might have.
Thank you and good luck everyone.

Alright, no problem. Didn't want to make one only to have to delete it if not selected. I'll have one up by tomorrow morning.

I'd like to throw another character into the mix.

Background:

The youngest son of a youngest son of a Taldan noble family, Marius had no inheritance to look forward to which did not stop him from trying to spend what the family had on wine, women, and song. Until one day a brush with the local constabulary forced Marius to make a choice in his life, he could continue in his current fashion and end up with less than nothing or he could make his own way in life. His decision made, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his black-sheep uncle and join the Pathfinder Society in Oppara and soon found himself in remote corners of the world raiding lost tombs and recovering ancient artifacts for the Society. On one such mission his path crossed that of a Professor Lorrimor, who needed assistance recovering an ancient tome. He was willing to pay well but no one would help because the resting place of the tome was rumored to be haunted. Marius had just finished his current mission and was waiting passage back to Absalom, so with nothing to do he decided to join this Professor on his journey. It was on this adventure that Marius discovered a kindred spirit whose thirst for knowledge and lack of fear (some might say caution) rivaled his own. Marius became fast friends with the eccentric scholar and throughout the intervening years the two often teamed up on some adventure of the Professor's.
Marius was on an archeological dig, although the locals refered to it as "tomb robbing", in Osirion when the letter informing him of the Professor's passing reached him. Making as much haste as possible he arrives in Ravengro, much to his dismay, a few days after the old man's funeral.

DM A_Z:

I had originally taken Mage Armor as one of my first level spells, but upon further reading I noticed that the Draconic bloodline receives Mage Armor as a bonus spell at third level. so if you agree I'd like to swap that out for the spell Burning Disarm.
If not, that's no biggie. That's what I get for skimming and not reading.

Take your time, DM A_Z. I'm just bored at work.

Do tell, do tell!
Sitting on the edge of my seat

Good luck, everyone.

Not exactly a reboot, more of a reimagining.

Background:

Buckwell's childhood was a typical Gnomish childhood with his days spent exploring the woods around his home in southern Brevoy and his evenings spent staring into the family fire as Grannana Burrowholme spun tales of his family's past. As the wizened matriarch told her stories, Buckwell could envision the characters in the flames acting out the tales. His favorite childhood story was the one about Great Grandmother Burrowholme dalliance, however impractical, with a prince of the Rogarvia family.
As the young man grew to puberty he began to realize that he was different from other Gnomes his age as he could focus his will to create small fires. He could not believe the exultation he felt in his soul as if some ancient memory was fanned to life whenever he started a fire, much to his parents dismay. Unable to control his tendencies anymore they sent him to the city of Restov to help him learn how to control his burgeoning powers.
While in the city Buckwell chafed at the restraints put upon his wanderlust and would often escape his studies to travel the countryside on his trusty pony, Nyx. It was during this time in the city that Buckwell noticed a handbill calling for able bodied adventurers to explore, map, and eventually settle the Stolen Lands to the south. Buckwell found himself unable to resist the chance to make his own way in the wilderness and, maybe, some day rule a kingdom much like the prince in his great grandmother's stories.

Here's a rough draft of my Gnome Sorcerer. Will work more on polishing him up and a background story later. Thanks for the consideration.

I'm thinking about a Gnome Sorcerer, Draconic (green) bloodline. Angling towards Dragon Disciple. Will get something up when I get home from work.

OK, I sent an email to the webmaster turning this game over to Jonasty. Good luck and good hunting, all

Jonasty1031,
Thanks for the quick reply. No I don't have anyone in mind and would appreciate making the turnover as quickly and painlessly as possible. As I said my life has taken an unexpected turn and I can no longer spare the time necessary to run a PbP game the way it needs to be run.
Thank you and may you and the others enjoy the game.

I'm sending out a distress call for a new GM to take over a Legacy of Fire group that just formed. Unfortunately my RL has just taken an unexpected turn and I'm unable to continue as their Gamemaster.

You can find the various threads here:
Recruitment:
Legacy of Fire: On Shifting Sand

OOC Discussion:
Legacy of Fire: On Shifting Sand: The Caravanserai {OOC Discussion Thread}

Gameplay:
Legacy Of Fire: On shifting Sand: Part 1, Howl of the Carrion King

Please take a look and help out these poor people who I feel I have abandoned.

Thanks.

Sorry all,
I know it's been a while but things have gotten rather...interesting at work lately. In case you're wondering I work for American Airlines and have for almost 27 years now. Their bankruptcy filing, while not unexpected, has thrown a lot of people for a loop.
A group of employees have asked me to run with them for union office and I have accepted. That being said though I am going to be busy between work and travelling to the other stations that comprise our local between now and the local election in March.
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to give this game the attention that you deserve, So I'm going to post a call for a new GM to take this over and I hope that you all can get someone who can really devote the time and effort I'm no longer capable of.
Thank you for your patience,
MPL8665

sirgrail has brought up something that I hadn't considered when posting my character creation guidlines, to use Hero points or not.
So I'll leave it up to the majority of you to decide. Yes or no?
Either way we're going run this scenario without them and then we can use them later.

Sorry, things got a little crazy/busy at work and I am just now writing the introduction. Things should be ready in a little bit.

As the newcomer joins the others by the camels the caravan master, Garavel, shouts to everyone. "All right, Mount up!" and even though the sun has barely risen above the horizon, he adds "We have wasted enough daylight. Mistress Almah awaits."

Thus begins our epic journey.

Sorry about that. The caravanserai can be found by clicking the Discussion tab at the top of this thread or by clicking here: The Caravanserai

I will post the beginning of the game on Monday, so please take the weekend to finalize your characters, discuss any strategies, or ask me any questions you may have.

Welcome weary travelers. Why don't you settle down and tell me a little about yourself while I serve refreshments to help slake your thirst and my staff removes the dust and sand from your garments.
Please take this opportunity to describe your characters to each other and work out any other details you wish to discuss as well as finalize any last minute purchases. You will each be given a horse or camel of your choice as well as a riding kit for said animal. If you already purchased a pack animal you may upgrade it to be war-trained or refund it and use the cash for additional purchases.

Thanks to my daughter, and the horrendous head cold she gave me, I've had more time than I thought to go over the submissions and have come to my decision on the final group.
Thank you all for the time and effort you took to make my final choices one of the hardest I've had to do yet. I wish I could run a game for all of you but, in the end, I can only choose four of you.
So that being said, would the following players/characters please report to the Caravanserai.

Dathom/Badi Al'Mukhabat Nabih Ka'im

Erich Norden/Beatrix

Kiradia/Marossa

sirgrail/Mujahid Al-Asad

Vanulf Wulfson/Nasir ibn Al'Said

To the others I offer my regrets, but if you wish to please follow the game along with us as I will return here for further recruits as time goes by and we need replacement players.

This will be the In-character game thread for my Legacy of Fire PbP game.

Thank you all for your wonderful submissions. Now comes the hard part, deciding who makes the cut. I will look over the characters for the rest of tonight and early tomorrow and will post the lucky few here in the afternoon.
Again, thank you for your interest and I hope I don't disappoint.

Sorry all for the lack of posting, but my daughter has been sick since Monday night. It started with a fever of 102, then she lost her voice. But now she seems to be improving, her fever is down to an almost normal 99 and her voice is getting stronger.

We're still on track for a Friday approval though, so please get your submissions in before then.

Unforunately that is the Player's guide for Legacy of Fire as well as the Companion guide.

Forgive the threadjacking, but if anyone of those who didn't make the cut are interested I'm going to be running a LoF campaign for a friend of mine who also submitted his character here and am currently in the recruiting process.

please feel free to check out the recruitment thread: Here

Great ideas and submissions, all. Keep 'em coming.

Welcome to the Caravnserai. A place to rest and relax in safety while you discuss the events of the day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy. Try the dates, they're delicious!

Guess I'll toss in the basic idea while I work on a background.

Tiefling Paladin (if allowed) With the Oath of Charity Archetype from UM and Hospitaler Archetype from the APG. With the Unsanctioned Knowledge feat from UM.

The one definite character is a Paladin, so you might want to rethink that choice.

I would be really interested in playing a character in this game, but what exactly is it you mean by PbP game -- literally on a post by post basis, or all getting together online at the same time with maptools, or something -- sadly my real-time life does not lend itself to this format, though my "posting" rate can be very good otherwise (I'm in the UK, so time zones not favourable...).

The game would be played on the Paizo.com messageboards. I, as GM, would post the scene and characters would then post their reactions. Actions would then be sorted out in initiative order, then I would post a recap of what happened in that round. Play would continue until the conflict is resolved. Generally of you're available to post once a day, you should be fine.

I'm in! I've been itching for some pathfinder for a while now and this will certainly satisfy.

Should we post our character concepts here now MPL8665?

Yes, please. Either a concept, background, or a full blown character write-up will suffice.
