I know what you are thinking: "Living here sucks, is the middle of nowhere and I want to go out and be a hero". Don't rush looking for adventures, stay sure, adventures will come to you faster than you think.
I tell you what makes an hero of you. Standing right there on the wall, eyes staring at the darkness, face freezing in the winter winds. Being here, everyday, no matter what. Heroes come and go, usually to late to prevent disaster.
Each spoon of soup, each bite of bread, each log in the fire, must be a reminder to you that who provided that, did it in exchange for your protection. When times come you must stand you ground, throw yourself between the danger and the people. When times come we are the wall, the first and last shade when it rains ogre's s#&$. Stay cool, stay sharp and be smart, live long enough and you'll be called hero so many times you'll lose count.

We are soldiers, we live our duty, we die instead of other people because that is the way is meant to be. Earn your scars and people will respect you. Prove yourself on the field and you will gain your own respect.
