Nidal is TOO depressing

2/5

Nightglass was my second read in the Pathfinder Tales Series. I would like to start out by saying that the imagery in this novel was some of the best I have ever read. I could really feel the tension that both of the major settings created and it was very easy for me to picture nearly everything described.

Sadly, I feel that the character interactions did not match up. Isiem was one of the least relatable characters I have read about to date. It seemed that every action of his was overly contemplated and that his exchanges with his classmates were uninspired. I know that Nidal is supposed to be dark and depressing and it was represented really well, however it also sucked out any semblance of life the characters may have had. I was even less crazy about the second book, the Strix were well represented but once again, Isiem felt dull through the whole event. This is probably my least favorite Pathfinder novel to date.
