Appearance:

Loric is a tall man, spare but possessed of great wiry strength. An excellent physial specimen, he nonetheless often appears wan and distracted. He does have a quick smile, but it quickly disappears as if memories he'd rather forget had been brought forth

When equipped for battle, Loric dons an elegant suit of plate armor, marred by an engraved coat of arms that has been scratched into oblivion.

When equipped for more sneaky action, Loric dons an excellent shirt of mail for more freedom of movement.

Personality:

Loric is a serious man. Having pursued a personal mission for the last 10 years, travelling the length and breadth of Ustalav, hunting down the remnants of his heinous family, he projects an air of melancholy. Those moments when amused enough to laugh out loud and smile, he is transformed; one can see the young man he must have been, full of life and love and confidence. Now the confidence remains, the love of live, not so much.

An indication of his wry sense of humour is the origin of his surname, Bentha. In the dialect of herders of the Tusk Mountains, it means "No-one".

Background:

The man looked about him frequently, the damp forest a unfortunate place for his horse to come up lame. Bending over
examining his mount's hooves, he felt exposed, vulnerable. His worried gaze couldn't penetrate the dense mist that
clung to the ground, obscuring yet also enhancing the warped tree's malevolent appearance.

Checking the last of the horse's hooves, he was brough up by its curious whicker... another horse was nearby.
Snatching his sword from where it hung by the pommel, the man crouched into a defensive stance , ears straining to
hear what his horse had already.

Softly, softly he began to discern the slow clop, clop of another horse advancing down the forest path. Eyes straining
in the mist, he was almost beside himself in panic when the rider and horse emerged from the obscuring mist.

The rider was all in armor and wrapped tight against the chill, he brought his horse to a halt some 20 feet from where the man
stared.

A slight shift as the rider straightened and looked at the man, and it was at that moment that the man realized his doom was
upon him.

Greetings, cousin." the rider said in a flat, emotionless voice, his last syllable punctuated by the twang of the crossbow he'd
had hidden under his cloak.

"Loric!" the man was able to gasp as the bolt punched into his belly, propelling him back against the slimy trunk of a nearby
tree.

Sliding down, his lifeblood gushing from his wound, the man saw the rider, Loris, descend from his mount and walk steadily to where he
lay. His head lolling, Loris grabbed his lank hair hand raisedd the man's face up to his own.

"You were the last, Fennik. You led me a merry chase, but now I am the last of our cursed family. There will be no others after
me. Satisfied? "

With his last breath, Fennik tried to spit in Loris' face, a curse half formed on his lips before his death rattle inturrupted.

Dropping his cousin's limp head, Loris stepped back , his face bleak.

"It is done." he murmured to himself "Now what?"

Thinking of where he might be, he realized that Karcau was nearby. A warm bed would be welcome, perhaps a local lord might find a
place in his garrison for the like of himself.

Loris chuckled, No time for self pity, man. They deserved thier fate, now yours is now free of their taint."

A low whistle brought the proud warhorse to his side, nudging his elbow. Mounting in one smooth motion, Loris freed his cousins horse and
sent it on its way with a tap to its rump with his sword.

Pausing, he looked down upon his cousin's corpse "A fitting resting place, Fezzik, another anonymous dead body in an anonymous
wood."

Sketching an ironic salute, Loric wheeled his horse about and kicked him into a gallop, heading towards Karcau.
