The size of the book will not bother me in the slightest, as long as its put together in all the right places and continues the same quality we've all seen from previous products from the gang at Paizo... we should all be in for an excellent treat!
I wonder if we can have it gift wrapped? ;)
Congrats to the entire Paizo team!
All that hard work will definitely pay off... count on it!
Let the cont down to Beta begin!
3 Cheers for Paizo!

Thank you very much for this information!
Let the games begin!
Ill see ya all there from time to time! ;)
Would it be possible to see the stats or the description of the Wandrifle? Its peaked my curiosity big time!... that, and i'm a big fan of goblins so this is right up my alley.

This is great news! I see the Geas is working perfectly.... er... um... (cough)... I mean... ah rats shouldn't have said that! LOL
Seriously - I have always used the spell lists in the past (Very handy) from other books and its good to know that Pathfinder will have em too! Even though some of us were wondering if they were going to be added at all!
I look forward to the Beta! (Rubs hands together in anticipation) ;)
SirUrza wrote: I would LOVE for Paizo to do a survival horror adventure. I totally agree! Plus add a little Ravenloft style atmosphere and you have a damn good night of gaming!
Murder Mystery's are fun too, very little combat, lot of storyline and roleplaying! But thats another good night of gaming all together!
Jason Bulmahn wrote: Hey there all,
Busy working on the Beta, so I will be brief. The combat feats were, for the most part, converted to ordinary feats. Note that I kept the Combat Feat type, I just changed its meaning to that of a Fighter Bonus Feat (makes em easier to find).
A couple got deleted, a number of them got significantly altered....

I would beg James to let me write that book. Beg! You begging him for the dragons book, Nick begging him for some fiction assignment. I bet James can't walk two feet in his office without falling over someone. :P Nah. I have big feet. I just crush them underfoot and they rebuild themselves in my wake. It's kind of creepy, in fact. That is creepy! Just shows ya how dedicated they are!!!
Can't wait for this one myself!
Jason Bulmahn wrote: Asgetrion wrote: Joey Virtue wrote: I think all the other ones based on skill checks for the bard is cool but this one is just to over the top Yep. Unlimited uses per day... *shudder*. Compare it to the Ranger's 20th level ability (DC 20 + WIS modifier) and it is definitely broken. Having said that, I think I'm going to rule it being DC 20 + CHA modifier.
Please, Jason, fix this ability in Beta! :) Yeah.. this one is high on my fix list. It is too good as written.

Too good as written!... this ability rocks if it were to be left as is! So i agree that a tweak or two may be needed to balance it out with the rest of the bardic level abilities. I look forward to said tweaks in the coming future!
I actually don't mind the new Purchase system in A-3. If used, it'll create characters more unique to themselves! Players will have to think on how they will arrange their points, which as we all know will have a huge impact on how their character develops all the way through to epic! Be it Fighter, Wizard, etc... Creating a character not along the norm makes for better roleplaying IMHO. Anyone can be the tank or the spell flinger from hell (had one myself), but its those unique characters that make into legend and fable! The New Purchase System will be for those characters... again if used!
Alpha 3 is here... At Last! Muahahahaha
It'll be good to see what tweaks and additions have been made!

lastknightleft wrote: When you guys re-create the weapons section in your PHB do something that was annoyingly left out of the Current 3.5 books.
List Hardness and HP in the chart with the weapon please.
I'm tired of every time someone sunders or uses some ability on a weapon I have to check the dang PHB in a different section than the weapon and then adjucate what the heck I think it is based on its thickness, despite not being sure wether things like hammers with a wooden haft and a steel head (which is way thicker than an axe head, but by how much I have no idea)should be given hp and hardness. So if you could just have on the friggen chart the weapons hardness and hp, the player can just note that on their sheet and when effects take place they already know and can just mark down the damage and know without me ruling when it is broken completely.
This isn't a change at all, merely making the information easily accessable, so it's completely backwards compatable.
Absolutely!!!
This is an excellent idea, which should become standard (I hope) in the beta and final editions of the PRPG!
Did I mention this is a great idea!!! ;P

Regarding the skills revision being in Alpha 3, I feel that this shows just how much pursuit of perfection (or at least of excellence) matters to you guys. :)

Please note that the torturing sessions may be recorded for training purposes, so please scream directly at the camera. Its good to see these sessions being recorded for future generations! LOL

This campaign setting is part of the Pathfinder Chronicles Subscription (If one has chosen that), It's where I saw its listing which led me to my original question at the beginning of this discussion! Which was promptly answered by our fellow gamers and designers!!! Thanx to you all!

I remember when you usedta get three blahs fer two bits. Now it's one blah fer 4-1/2 bits. Next we'll be paying in Euros and have to have papers just to buy a blah. It's all unAmerican I say! Dern Commies.

Hey now, lets not even bring those "Dern commies" into this. We're still trying to clean up the abyssal mess they left!

Yes, but that is not the book they're talking about.
alleynbard wrote: Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved sat in at about $50 with 430 pages. I am sure with smaller print runs and more "impactful" overheads it is difficult for smaller companies to be competitive with Wizards on price points. But with such high quality coming from Paizo I think the price will be worth. This is doubly true if the book contains both the PHB and DMG between its covers. This is a different book. The Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting hardcover comes out this August for $49.99. It does NOT contain the PH and DMG. It contains our campaign setting. In the same month, we are releasing our RPG Beta for... uh... less than that much money. THAT book will contain replacement rules for the PH and DMG. Excellent, Thanx for the info Mr McArtor. ;D
Indeed they do!

Nathril wrote: The Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting is scheduled for release this August, which contains the background and fluff for the game setting - details on the regions, culture, etc.
The Pathfinder RPG scheduled for final release next year will be the actual ruleset for playing the game. So two different products - I was a little confused at first, too.
*Robert beat me to it!*
Definitely confusing to see at first but now it makes a little more sense! The price does seem a little steep IMHO
So if we all check out the Pathfinder Chronicles listing for upcoming releases... we currently see that the Pathfinder RPG Hardcover is coming out this August 2008! But it does not state if its beta or the final uber product, which i read sometime earlier was 400+ pages! Also this product is listed at 49.99 which i though was the price for the final Pathfinder Campaign Setting due out August 2009!
Have things changed or am i missing something huge here LOL
Just would like some clarification on what the deal is here for i thought the august release was the beta at 24.99 (not 49.99 as its listed now)
Can ya all help a fellow gamer out here!
I await your various reply's
Keep those dice rolling!
I'll be getting the Beta Release and the Final UBER 400+ page final version later next year!
Muahahahahaha... Cant wait for either ;)
I haven't been keeping count, so whats that total now!?!?
Samurai wrote: Here's what I'd do:
Specialists: In addition to your Specialist Power, at each odd level you may memorize 1 additional spell from your chosen school, so long as you do not memorize any from your prohibited school. Like your Specialist power, these spells vanish if you decide to memorize a spell from a prohibited school that day.
Universal: Change their bonus powers/spells into generally effective powers, as I said above... rememorize a spell just cast, some spontaneous metamagic, perhaps some kind of Immediate Action counterspelling ability, etc. Bonus spells belong to specialists, not universalists.
I'll 2nd this idea(s) ;)

I only have one request: Any chance of getting a "light" version without the background for those of us with monochrome inkjets? We're going to be doing some heavy playtesting and will need many many sheets, but I have no desire to burn out my ink cartridges. Thanks! Of course. I think it loses some functionality, because some of the boxes aren't meant to be "white". But here it is: Alpha 2 Lite Both versions are excellent. Keep up the great work!
Here's 1000 XP :P
Guess that answers that! LOL
Thanx for the heads up all, those chaacter sheets are great!
I was wondering if there was going to be a download of an "alpha" version of a character sheet for use with the Alpha phase of the testing for the Pathfinder RPG? (Same question goes for the Beta version too!)
I would be very handy if one was released to go along with the testing we are all doing!
I would like to know if this may actually come available!?!
Saurstalk wrote: The reason I ask is that I really would like to have one source to reference than multiple sources. I agree!
Having the new Pathfinder Handbook be a fusion of the PHB & DMG would definitely be more ideal, especially with all the streamlining going on in gaming these days... just seems to make sense to me!
In regards to a future Pathfinder Monster Manual... well, we'll deal with that issue later! :P
For me (as well as my gamer crew) ill be sticking with 3.5! I have enough material to keep going for decades! LOL. Personally, i still think its too early for 4th ed, but that is a debate thats already been raked over several million times!!!
Perhaps in 2010 ill check it out!
Keep those dice rolling all!
Saw the article in the final issue of dragon and am definitely looking forward to having all those goodies in one place (instead of individual orders)! Hope the price is good! Any Idea when the full write up and order info will be released?
I too noticed that the poster was missing with my issue of Dragon 359, If you can help a wizard out here, that would be great!
Keep those dice rolling!
Ya, i'm still waiting for my copy of Dragon 347 as well! Hope it shows soon!
Ok i am not the only one, for my copy has also not arrived and it was shipped a long while ago too! Heres hoping it comes soon enough!
Just wanted to give ya guys the heads up!
Can ya help a wizard out here?!
One of my favorite books in my collection, with the Shadow Magics being my personal highlight of this book. A must have!
Two thumbs up.
WTF! This cannot be true, it must be a dream. The insanity i tell you... Damn it to the 9 hells is all i can say. Both Dungeon & Dragon Magazine are just way to good to just have the plug pulled on them! I mean come on WotC, all of us whom subscribe to these magazines will all be looking elsewhere for our monthly fix and for the most part i gather it will not be at WotC.
Agreed that it is a business and decisions must be made to further advance a company but COME ON... isn't customer satisfaction a key component in this industry. With the amount of gamers out there, ya think we could have at least had a say in this matter! But that would mean we live in a perfect world.
I nod my head to my friends at Paizo. Both Magazines will be missed and i do hope Pathfinder will become an excellent successor with many many adventures to come in the various realms we all play in!
To WotC... (shaking my head here) I officially state that this was a bad move!
Such i life in the 21st century i guess
Well I finally did receive issue 353, but alas i too have not received issue 354!
There are way to many of us out there whom are suffering from the same problem.
Here's hoping that it will be solved sometime soon... crossing fingers here!
Keep those dice rolling all!
Wow, here we go again for I too have not recieved my copy of Dragon Issue 353. This is now the second issue in a row that has become late or lost or what have you?! I hope this gets sorted out soon!
Put me down for all these and in this order!
1) Greyhawk
2) Ravenloft
3) Dragonlance
Wow, so i am not the only one then who has not recieved thier copy! I dont know if it is a thing with shipping to Canada or what! All I know is that its the middle of the month and still nothing! Hopefully it gets here soon!
