I am with tbug. Most cases where I see an XP award for negotiating or doing something instead of fighting it states to award the PCs full xp for defeating a creature of the same level. I would likely do so here.

Yeah, but what about the hopefull thugs? the PC's will probably have to face them in Knivesis, so should I award them seprately for it, or does it count as a part of the negotiation effort?

I'm now running "Edge of Enarchey" to my players, and they are going toward Eel's End. I suddnley relaised that there's no XP reward for sucsfully negotiating with him, which I find wierd and annoying. so what reward shall I give them in exchange of not getting violant?

Robin Hobb's "soldier son trylogy"/ to depressing, to slow. and i loved the farseers.

for me, Pathfinder means thoughtfull and thought-prvoking modules made by fellow fans (with considarbly more skill and expirience, of curse). It means that I can choose not to play 4E and still remain (realtivley) mainstream. It means I have a company wich I trust to always be proffasional and keep true to thier word.
for me, Pathfinder bacame a second name to D&D.

GURPS's Infinant Worlds setting sounds ideal to me.

I really can't understand this AP. It don't seem to have a single narrative, and I can't understand the PC's motivation to contoniue playing it. whey would they want to risk themselves to sell a map?

So... from the advanture summery I see that this is going to be a dungeon crawel... I'd much rather have a full Wilderness adaventure, It's so much cooler.

AP 4! now, that's some good news. I saw it coming though, becuse there were some clues about it in the last CoTCT AP, in the preview by the writer of each volume.

spoilers! warning!

As a matter of fact, I planned to get Rolth into "Crowen of Fangs" too- but as an alley. While the PC's were out of towen kicking some undead asses, Rolth will return to Korvosa and start defieng Ileoses's autoraty with all his might, for he would fill (justly) threatend by the power of the queen. he will still despise the PC's, and won't officaly cooperate with them, but the divertion he will create with the hordes of undead he'll unleash throuout the city will be a great help for them.

End of spoilers!

James Jacobs- I know that I can't let Rolth run away without justification, so I figured I'll just add three or four grey maidens into the room. than, if enogh of them die and/or someone will manage to get Rolth into melee, he'll retreat.

and, if the PC's still kill him... well, I always wanted to have a Lich fighting the PC's...

So excspt the setting, how is WH really diffreant from the WoD Hunters game? Becuse I talked with a friend who's opinion I value, and he told me that Wod's Hunter game was really lame.
The entire "Witch hunter" style is totaly cool, IMO, but if WH isn't better than WoD's, I'll pass.

A real shame. I know my players and I know that when the time comes, they will love to hate Rolth. I also made up an adition to the plot where Rolth comes to hunt one of them in his dreams.
You can't have Evreyhing, I guess. I'll manage without him. By the way, Seven Days is probably the finest advanture ever made and I admire you for it, Mr. Jacobs. you'll have my vote for the ENnies! (and good luck, by the way).

At the end of Seven Days to the Grave, it was promised that future issiues of CoTCT would feature information about possible ways to include Rolth the necromancer if he manages to escape th PC's. well, Iv'e carefully scanned "Escape from old Korvosa" and "History of Ashes" ans finaly "Skeletons of scarwall", but there wasn't even a sidebar about him (Rolth). anyone know where is he?
thanks.

Hey.
I never heard of Witch Hunter before, but I noticed that it recived three Ennie award nominations... so I figured that it's probably worth checking.
Anyone who can share something or otherwise let me know his opnion about the game?

Oh, yes. A debt of gratitude...

*bows to the wotc ringlords in their ivory tower*

O Great Masters!
Oh thank you for trying to pull out the OGL from under us!
We owe you a debt of gratitude for the horrible treatment of your customer base!
We are grateful for the alleged lies proclaimed at last year's GenCon, and applaud your wanton and dispassionate (attempted) dismissal of 30+ years of history and tradition.
We are thankful for the way you've snubbed your nose at your own previous product, and the continued fans of 3.5.
We do not mind overlooking the fact that you've tried to monopolize the fantasy role play industry. Even though the OGL was the only proper way to share a genre you did not create and cannot claim to completely own, we humbly owe you a debt of gratitude for giving 3pp the so-called right to use what you cannot claim to own in the first place.

We ask this through, CWM, our "debt of gratitude Policeman."

Couldn't have said it better me'slf.

I seems that "THE WAR OF PUBLISHERS" has now began, and we'll probably see even more rivalry and childish comments throuwn evreywhere, and the prime targets will be the prime publishers.

What concerns me most is the distribution of Pathfinder products to the hobby stores. I don't know the situation in US but in countries where the market is relatively small, the hobby stores are depending on WotC products. In a small market they see the 4e as the grand new attraction. They possible don't want to distract their customers with 2 lines of products.

True. I live in isreal, and that's causing me lot's of problames when I want to play. Thing is, in isreal most of the gameing "community" consist of Ten Years Olders ( mainly becuse if you don't start playing when your'e young, you don't start playing at all, and most of the DM's around here suck. add those two and you can see that most of the players play once, when they are 10), so most of the marchendise is aimed to a younger crowed than what I would like. evantually, that led to the fact that 4E is selling, and 3.P will not.

and about all the accusation throwen towards 4E fans who mock Pathfinder and Paizo. This people are diffrent than you, becuse the gaming expirience they seek is diffrent. ther's nothing wrong about it. Very probably, they do enjoey 4E- why not?
the only wrong thing they did is mocking paizo- ut all of you are doing the same, and by that i mean that you mock WoTC with no real reason and naming all thier followers "Boerd insecure infidels with a lower than room temparture IQ". this is chieldish

I also think that WotC is drumming up some of the negative sentiment...
How do you think they are doing this?

Well, there are the subtle things... Like having a Paragon Path in their PHB called the Pathfinder and having one of its abilities called "Wrong Step". There is the cancellation of both magazines, which Paizo had made into the best gaming supplements in the industry. How did cancelling them make sense if WotC didn't feel threatened by Paizo? The Mags could have served as a vehicle to promote 4e instead of a point around which more acrimony was thrown WotC way. So why cancel them a full year before 4e's release? Because they knew Paizo made a better product and wanted to try to force the revenue from that back their own way. So Paizo makes Pathfinder. I think that having an alternative like Pathfinder is a key cog in why many 3.5 players still refuse to go to 4e. My guess is WotC is not pleased. Further, why is it that at virtually every board where these sorts of debate are happening its always the same handful of people instigating things? Is it not a reasonable leap of logic to think that one of those folks could be doing something that WotC quietly asked them to, like say create negative internet buzz about Pathfinder?

Again, just an opinion. WotC handling of the 4e transition has made me think they are capable of anything, including slandering a competitor's product by having zealots go to that competitor's website to start inflammatory threads.

Oh, please!

I don't know what about you guys, but I never heard about shuch a paranoia since the Cold War. WoTC and PAIZO are compitting compenis, and the competition is a healthy one.
It amazes me that no-one see how rediculus the sitioution has become: words like Apoclipse, war, and hatred are written evreywhere. two camps are gathering, and each one of them is deaclering a brutal crusade of conquring and destriong, and won't stop untill destroied or victorieos. people seem to forget D&D's a game! Play it, injoey it, end of story.

oh, and Brent: Look, like you, I think 3.5 edition is better (although I never actually played it so I can't really express an opinion here), at least from waht I heard. It's just that I don't think it's worthy of such zealousy.

One of the greatest comics in the world!
Truly, Goblins is the best combination Iv'e ever seen between hilerius humor, engagin plot and total kickass action scenes- all through the eyes of D&D's most common low-level walkig XP monsters!

the last adventure was really good. i hope this one will keep up to the high standrds rhis series already set to itself.
