This is the OOC thread.

This is a supplement to my home game...

... more to follow.

Not sure if this is intentional or not, but I have noticed that when you preview a post, the lines displayed under your avatar's name disappear. These would be the lines that correspond to "Gender", "Class/Level" and "Race" in the avatar profile.

I don't have video like Patrick, but here are some screen grabs. :)

Before previewing

After previewing

As you can see, some of us use these lines to display vital stats for easy reference in the PBP forums. Having them disappear if you preview a post is a bummer. :)

I also notice it removes a lot of the left side header as well. Not sure if that is related.

I am also using the latest (updated) version of Google Chrome.

Cheers!

Would it be feasible to add a feature to everyone's profile page which logged the last time they were online? This would be extremely helpful for those of us in PBP games who are waiting for others to contribute before advancing the story.

If this is not possible (or possibly unwanted as an invasion of privacy) could one instead create a "Most Recent Post" feature that shows, on your main profile page, the most recent post made by any and all of your account aliases? One can already glean this information by checking each alias manually, but it would be extremely helpful if one didn't have to search each alias individually (as some posters have many, many aliases).

Just a suggestion. Thoughts?

Cheers!

PS Sorry if this has been asked before... my search turned up no such previous request.

Bump.

Anyone? :)

Greetings!

Our PBP group recently lost a few players and then subsequently our GM also called it quits. Those players that do remain wish to see if we can find a replacement GM to step in and continue the adventure (Kingmaker AP).

If there are any interested GMs willing to help us out that would be greatly appreciated!

Those interested can use the links below to check out the PBP progress to date.

Thanks in advance for your consideration!

PS. The remaining active PCs are:
Eadric (Paladin)
Obi (Sorcerer)
Elaria (Wizard)
Lupus (Rogue)
and possibly Vanion (Bard)

I have just become aware of the changes to Detect Evil (the spell). Specifically the change to the aura power of aligned creatures of 5 HD or less. This change now renders the spell useless in detecting evil in creatures of 5 HD or less, as they have no discernible aura. You used to register a faint aura with 10 HD or less. Why the change?

Seeing as how the vast majority of classed NPCs and many of the enemy combatants, the kinds one is most likely to encounter (especially early on), are usually below this 5 HD threshold, this seems a drastic re-working of the spell. With perhaps unintended consequences?

The most relevant example being the fact that you give Paladins the ability to Detect Evil at will at first level, but make it virtually useless until he starts regularly encountering 5 HD opponents. Seeing as his ability to Smite Evil is largely dependent upon his ability to tell real evil, with a capitol E, from those others who are just behaving badly, it becomes a double hit.

I'm curious to hear other thoughts on this before I house rule it back to the 3.5 version of the spell in my home game.

Cheers!

One of my players sent me this LINK.

Spoiler:
That is so ridiculous! Gangs! This makes me so mad! I'm gonna call my the rest of my players and we are going to go pop a cap in someone's a$$! ;)

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about the D&D Insider virtual Game Table's current status? Or the character creator virtual mini thing that was part of that? Are they still working on it?

If I have unknowingly aggravated a sore spot, please don't send any ninjas after me. I have had three attacks already this week. ;)

Cheers

Short answer, IMO yes.

Long answer, IMO the ring gates need nerfing or at least some clarification (ie. does casting a spell through the gates cause your similcrum to become visible, or, can you aim spells through the ring gates without sticking your head through etc.)

IMO these are a game breaker. Anyone else?

Instead of jumping on the hate wagon for the spiked chain, how about showing some love for the other reach weapons. It doesn’t make sense to me IMO that one cannot use a glaive (for example) to attack someone adjacent to them. I know the glaive’s strength (as with most, but not all, reach weapons) comes from the increased leverage and speed resulting from the long shaft propelling the blade, but that same shaft is essentially a quarterstaff with one mean end. Why not let the glaive be used like a quarterstaff against adjacent opponents (with the expected modifications to damage, criticals etc.). I would even support a penalty to attack (say -2) when being used in this not specifically designed for usage. I’m not really advocating something that isn’t already achievable within the scope of the existing rules. <see spoiler> I’m just asking that maybe we stream line the process and make it easier for melee types (I’m looking right at you fighter) to broaden their repertoire of weapons and tactics. What do you think?

Spoiler:
Using the glaive to attack at close range is really the equivalent of attacking using an improvised weapon (= to the aforementioned quarterstaff). You would suffer -4 to your attack role and penalties to damage but these could be overcome by the application of feats (ie. Caught Off Guard and Razor Sharp Chair Leg).

Spoiler:
Razor Sharp Chair Leg really needs a different name.

“IRON GRIP” [General]
You are able to use two-handed weapons with one hand.
Prerequisite: BAB +6
Benefit: You can use two-handed melee weapons one-handed with a -2 to your attack roll. The weapon must be of your size category (ie. A medium creature could not use a Large Greataxe one-handed with this feat). You cannot use this feat in your off hand or use it with a double weapon.
Normal: You cannot wield two-handed weapons one-handed.

Thoughts?

Cheliax

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a feat that would allow you to wield a two-handed weapon, effectively, in one hand. I'm thinking about a spear or longspear, for instance, a la the Spartans in 300. If one does not currently exist might I suggest one be created. I would envision it being fairly similar to that of "Monkey Grip", but with a slight twist of course.
