"There you are. I was wondering what happened to you. You missed a lot, but some of it I'd rather not talk about. Caramel?" she asked, holding out one of the candies for him.

"Sure", he says, picking it up and starting to chew it carefully, savoring the sweet flavor.

You know, I think Knife's right. Lk is in over his head right now.

Growling, 'Shango-Wildson' collects his gold and leaves. When Lk rejoins the group looking for shinies, he looks like a human kid again(just one whose pack is heavier than before and is trying to hide a bandaged side under his thin shirt).

"Hey Arielle, what did I miss?"

"Thanks for the antidote Knife. Hope we aren't DQ'ed because that fool decided to use smoke-baombs. No offense but thats worse than using poison. Want to get him if we're DQ'ed later?"

Chance Encounter wrote:

Just as Little Kiba is finding one edge of the smoke, an arrow streaks past the tip of his nose, then he is almost brained as a smoke-bomb comes down practically on top of him, and smoke fills his vision again.

He can hear the increasingly erratic steps of the giant thumping nearer.

Moving quickly away from the giant's footsteps, Lk picks up the arrow trying to see what the tip is. Once he knows, he moves on in the direction the arrow came from, hoping to pull a claw-and-run on the half-fiend. He is careful to move as quickly and as silently as possible.

Chance Encounter wrote:

Little Kiba can't smell much apart from the engulfing smoke.

However he can hear the 'pfft' of more smoke-bombs being thrown from locations sufficiently different to suggest that at least two people are doing it, the slap of feet on the sand of the arena floor, the occasional clank of armour, the venomous twang and hiss of archery, the whir of knives, the murmurs and shouts of the crowd, the distant click of a metronome, and the roars and staggerings of the giant, who sounds to be taking heavy missile fire.

Staying silent, he begins to move slowly through the smoke, trying to find the limit of his smoke filled hide-out. He knows the warlord has the bow, and he is likely to be flying. The giant is easy to hear, and is probably trying to hit the warlord as its pelted by arrows. But he is more worried about the knifer now, beacause a silent blade cuts best.

If he finds the limit to the smoke(assuming the arena isn't filled with it) he'll begin to look for his opponenets, hopefully being able to attack from behind(jumping on their back and literally ripping into any part of them he can.

Chance Encounter wrote:

From somewhere behind Little Kiba comes the sound of archery, and the dreaded hiss of arrows. Followed by muffled cursing and more 'pffts' of smoke-bombs going off.

Meanwhile, the giant howls in outrage, and desperately smashes at Kiba with his off-hand, slapping him in an effort to dislodge him.

Lk jumps to the top of the giant's skull and readies himself to jump. [thought]("If this works, I shouldn't have to worry about him for awhile...")[/thought] While up on the giant, Lk tries to find the other people in this brawl.

Chance Encounter wrote:

As the giant is bending down, it makes it somewhat easier for Little Kiba to reach his target, although driving through the blinding, stinging spray of sand makes it difficult to see where he is landing, and he comes down in the wrong spot on the arm for the precise crippling stroke intended. The giant's face is a short way away, however....

Elsewhere in the arena, the 'pfft' of a number of strictly non-magical alchemical smoke-bombs being ignited announces that the half-fiend warlord is finally upto something.

Striking out blindly with one hand while trying to clear his eyes with the other, Lk manages to claw the giant's face. He hears the 'pfft' and smells the smoke, but he doesn't take his senses from his most current fight.

Either actually hitting an eye or just making a cut that will let blood flow in the giants eyes and blind it, your choice. Or you make something up, this is getting fun!

The giant throws a boulder in a hurry at Little Kiba as he comes in, then bends bends and slaps his hand across the arena floor, slamming a spray of sand in Little Kiba's drection as he gets closer.

"Okay, maybe your kind isn't as dumb as people think..."

Enacting leap to slash muscles/tendon in 3..2..1.. NOW!

Chance Encounter wrote:

The man laughs, but doesn't let up his defense.

Yeah, kid. I was young and idealistic like you once. And for that reason I'm going to let you off lightly. As a lycanthrope I reckon you'll mend a broken backbone fairly fast once you're out of here.
Believe me, one day, if you live that long enough, you'll take the pragmatic approach to fighting too, and it won't mean that you're any less good at what you do. Poison for me, a pack of slavering infected lycanthrope followers for you, I bet. Whatever it takes to get a job done most efficiently.
The next boulder coming in comes in with speed and accuracy and requires Little Kiba and the man to take considerable evasive action to avoid it.
They dive in different directions to get clear, giving the man time to get back on his feet afterwards and resume his defensive stance, before Little Kiba can close the distance.

You know old dumb-as-rocks over there is finally finding his range I reckon. Last chance to surrender and walk out of this with your pride intact, kid.

Don't want to make the post to long so its spoilered.

Spoiler:
"What is there to be proud about when you give up? Knowing I'm a lycanthrope I can understand, but calling me 'kid'? Can't see it, sorry. he covered his entire body to avoid panic back in the marketplace when he shifted As for Rocky over there, I think he has a deal with the fiend. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to end up like that kobold." Kicking sand and dirt into the man's eyes, Lk turns and dashes toward the hill giant. His isze and speed give him a slight advantage over the dumb brute, and he leaps at it's arm, hoping to cut muscle and tendon with his claws. He quickly surveys the arena, and dodges the half-fiend's glaive, flipping over his side-slash. Landing near the fiend, he crouches and sweeps a foot at the cambion's ankles, hoping to at least trip him if the blow doesn't break his ankle. The spins gives him yet another view of the arena.

Chance Encounter wrote:

The man with the throwing knives isn't letting his concentration waver one little bit, but has a few words.

So, let's get this straight, you came in here with little or no tactical plan, right?
You thought 'I know, I'll go toe-to-toe with some of the most famous and meanest fighters-and-warriors for hire in the multiverse, four or five at a time, and somehow come out on top.'

Lk shakes his head once from atop his boulder perch. "I didn't enter this tourny to prove myself. I entered because that star-gem belongs to somebody I know. I'll do watever I can to help get it for her." Lk leaps at the man feet first, hoping to throw him off balance, and rolls when he makes contact with the ground, coming to a stop in a defensive stance. He faces the man, ready to strike when he does. "And if you were any good at fighting, you wouldn't need poison to help finish off your opponents!"

The giant is already readying another boulder, and somewhere over in the officials' stand/box some of the men are looking in the direction of the sprawled kobold.
Pretending to breath heavily, Lk begins to make half-circles while on all foursSorta like Spiderman moving up a wall waiting for the man to amke his move, his mistake, while trying to see what the others in the arena are doing. He senses something wrong up in the stands, but forces himself to ignore it for now.

Lk dodges yet another boulder, but just barely since he is trying to conserve his strength. He quickly climbs his way to the top of the boulder, hoping to get the jump on Mr.Knife while getting a better view of the arena.

The punch simply seems to send the kobold into a frenzy, and he comes at Little Kiba in a berserk frenzy, hacking and slashing with the axe.

Meanwhile, the man with the knives has circled around so that Little Kiba and the kobold are between him and the giant, an unpleasant smile on his face.
The giant seems to have decided that its best chance of hitting something is to send a boulder at the 'group' (basically a bigger target to hit), and sends a boulder hurtling through the air, whilst readying the next.
The man with the knives readies a couple of knives whose blades gleam silver and whose edges are coated with something sickly green.
Meanwhile the armoured half-fiend with the glaive stands alone and ignored.

Sorry for the delay.

Lk's ears pick up something big flying toward him, and jumps back farther than needed to avoid the kobold's swing. He looks away as the he finds the kobold's ears were not nearly as good as his own. That glance away is enough to allow him to barely turn away a sickly green and silver knife with his axe. (Oh dragon dirt! Poisons are bad enough but this guy's got silver! I need to change my style if I'm going to get the shiny.) Dropping his axe, Lk chrouches and lets his lycanthropy lend its strength. Suddenly he sees it, the day he entered the rank of Hunter. He had to defeat older members of the pack and his weapon had proved to be only a handicap. Flexing his hands, he lets his claws pierce the gloves he wears. Still crouched, Lk leaps at the man with knives, using primal hunting tactics passed down through his blood to try and bring the knifer down.

Chance Encounter wrote:

The kobold comes charging in Little Kiba's direction, and the man with the knives after casting an assessing eye over the situation begins to circle around the edge of the combat area, making for Little Kiba and the kobold, whilst keeping a wary eye on the giant.

Lk waits till the last second to dodge the kobold's attack, then punches the unbalanced combatant hard in the head. Lk quickly looks around and begins moving to throw off the giants aim, keeping an eye on the others in the ring.

Chance Encounter wrote:
How exactly is Little Kiba equipped, and what shape is he in, given that antimagic is in effect in the arena, so creatures with magical shapechanging abilities will generally revert to a 'natural' form?

He hasn't changed, part of the secret about himself that he doesn't know... yet. Other than retaining his hybrid form though, any magic he's got is negated.

Lk pulls a small axe from within his cloak, and from the corner of his eyes he begins to watch Mr. Knives and the half-fiend. He can probaly run up the hill giant to jump at the half-fiend and use his axe to disable it's wings. He calmly waits for the match to start, holding his axe like this whole thing is just boring. He begins to search the crowd for any who watch him, and when he notices JH and the others, he pointedly looks away.

Chance Encounter wrote:

The man in question is a large, burly, grim-faced man, dressed in studded leather armour, with a short-sword at his belt and accompanied by a couple of men in robes covered with arcane sigils.

You want it, sign up for the contest like everyone else, he growls.
A series of bouts in an arena cloaked with antimagic, so it's a trial of pure speed, brute strength, and skill at arms, and not who has the fanciest items or most wonderful spell-casting friend.
Last man or woman standing gets the prize.

Time warping.

"Then I guess I should sign up, shouldn't I? It's been a while, but this is gonna be so much fun!" Lk moves to the sign up booth and signs his name "Shango Wildson". He waits calmly for his match, stretching and watching the other contestants with blank eyes, learning how they fight with and without wounds.

Lk begins to linger behind, staying qi=uiet so nobody will notice. By the time he gets there though, the clothing fits perfectly, hiding any means to identify him. He begins his search to find the shiny, hoping to 'sniff' it out before it changes hands.

After a few minutes, Lk catches the scent of something that reminds him of pure air, soft breezes, and storms. He follows the scent trail quickly, locating the person who has it easily. His voice deeper and more wolfish, "Excuse me, but you wouldn't happen to a star-like gem would you? It belongs to somebody I... like very much. If I can't have it freely, perhaps we can settle this in the arena? Surly some one of your stature wouldn't refuse a challenge from one of my size."

Nobody can tell this is Lk, he has be come an expert at concealing his hybrid form, so right now Devlyn, Kiba, and a god would be able to tell who he is.

Not succeding in his endeavor to cast natural magic, Lk gives up and waits for the group to get on the move again, youthful anger/dissapointment on his face.

Mumbling that he can take care of himself, Lk takes Allura's hand anyway.

"What? You mean me? That's charming for us Jacks. ;)"

Catching up.
Lk is awed by the Eyrie, and loves the food offered, even the veggies. His eyes change slightly and he growls softly at the dragon as it entered and for a while after it was gone. He calmed down when JH arrived and tried to keep out of Sky's sight, not knowing Azuri'ith had already sent a messenger to his father. He follows Arielle and JH to the Bazaar.

Arielle smiles when she sees Lk watching the Sanctum. "It's a good place. It's a temple to a sun god. I think he might be friends with my mommy. When we finish collecting shinies for the day, you can come back to my mommy's temple with us if you want. It's a good place too."

She holds each star close to her for a moment before putting it in her pouch, humming a strange song.

Wondering just how many good places there can be, Lk hands Arielle the shinies he has collected and starts searching for more.

Gotta go.
