Background:
Lissa was born to human parents in the Osirion town of An. As she grew upa dn entered society, the distinctive blue markings covering her body distinguished her from her peers, and the already shy Lissa despised the added attention. She began wearing dark robes which covered her entire body, along with a hood and a scarf covering her face below her eyes. She had a tattoo artist cover the blue markings with tattoo ink, but even those attempts to remain anonymous were futile.

When she reacted adulthood, Lissa left her home in An and traveled west to the city of Shiman-Sekh, where she found a more secluded life. To keep herself fed, she became a sellsword who offered her services to local merchants and others who needed protection, using the skills she had learned during her travels from An to Shiman-Sekh. She spent her free time walking the streets of the city, staying unnoticed and watching people, as was her nature. Few noticed or paid attention to the woman with the covered face, and Lissa was content.

That's when she saw him. Walking a backstreet in Shiman-Sekh, Lissa noticed a man who moved with particular swiftness and grace walking quickly away from a building. She followed, but lost him in the crowd. She became obsessed with finding the man again—she was drawn to him. She found him again many times, but only caught glimpses before he vanished again.

She found him speaking to a merchant one day, and the conversation escalated into an argument. As the man she had been following raised his voice, the wind picked up and pushed the hood off his head. It only came off for a moment, but she saw the distinctive blue marks around his face—he was another of her kind.

She continued to follow him, but she started to believe that he knew she was there. He seemed to lead her all over the city, and he started pushing the boundaries of the city as well. She followed him outside the city and into the desert, where she could no longer hide from him. He was not surprised to see her, though, and they walked along together in silence. That night was the most exciting of her life. They spent the night exploring the desert, fending off giant scorpions and giant spiders and exploring the rocky outcrops just outside the city.

They parted ways, but when she returned to the city borders the next night, he was there again, and, wordlessly, they went to explore again. Every night, they would meet outside Shiman-Sekh, nod at each other, and enter the desert. This continued for months. Sometimes they wouldn't return to the city, but would camp in the desert and continue their travels the next day. They explored caves and abandoned temples, dunes and oases. They rarely spoke, but as time went by, their communication grew to an almost uncanny level. A glance, a flick of the wrist, or a shift of the feet was enough to signal to the other one's intentions, and they became a masterful fighting team.

But one night, Lissa went to meet her companion and found no one. Disappointed, she returned to the city, wondering where he was. She returned the next night, but again he was not there. After a week, she decided she had to go looking for him. She knew he was from Thuvia, west of Osirion, so she joined up with a caravan heading to that nation, offered her services as a sellsword caravan guard, and began making the trek west.
