Character sheet(s) is(are) updated. Still need to print them and put them in the gaming bag. Still waffling about multi-classing vs. sticking with straight paladin. Cupcakes are baked, frosted, and in their carrier. Birthday card for the son of our hosts (I can't believe he's already NINE!) is signed and in the gaming bag. Clothes are packed for the overnight stay, so I don't have to drive two hours home at midnight tonight. Pathfinder, here I come!

I once opened the door to a very nice young pair of Mormon boys in the buff and carrying a butcher knife and a dishtowel. They couldn't get away fast enough. (What? It was a hot day, I didn't have air-conditioning in that apartment, and I was drying dishes. I just happened to have the knife in my hand when the doorbell rang.)
Orthos wrote: I think if you're going past 20, there's never a better time to multiclass, especially with the availability of capstones prior. Sure your Paladin stuff that's level based will keep getting better, but you won't ever get any new tricks =) That's my internal conflict. New shinies vs building on the foundation I've already got. :) Oh well... I've leveled up her character sheet both ways, and will decide tomorrow which I want to use.

Is it crazy for me to consider multi-classing Paladin 20/Cavalier 1 at this stage in my character's career? (Here's what her 20th level character sheet looks like.) My DM is giving us guidelines for continuing in our base classes, or we can multi-class or take a prestige class. Cavalier appeals to me mostly because it plays to my character's strengths already, and adds a teamwork component that I think would work well with our party's ranger. But I'm not sure it's worth it compared to the advancement of level-dependent paladin abilities I'd get if I took a 21st level of paladin.

Thank you. I've been very, very lucky. (I mean, getting a cancer diagnosis sucks, but compared to how bad this COULD have been, I'm fortunate beyond belief that the treatment and recovery has been as relatively simple as it has.)
checks the hot tub for temperature and operational readiness, then settles in for a nice, long soak What a lovely day it's turning out to be! Detailed nattering::
Picked up my taxes from the accountant, and it looks like my refunds are enough to completely replenish my savings from the surgery-related expenditures I've had to make in recent months.
I'm cancer free, and my physical therapist said in my assessment this morning that my range of motion and strength are almost back to normal. I'm leveling up my paladin to 21st level today, and tomorrow night is Pathfinder gaming. And finally, it's only 15 days 'til Opening Day Baseball! I hope the rest of you are having a wonderful Friday too!

Luckily, as I've said before, the wife and I make enough to have saved a good bit. So it'll be a bit of a nuisance, but not much else - as long as certain people get their heaDs out of their asses. Oh, my sympathies. Commiseration from a fellow federal employee back here: Things are pretty tense around my workplace too, although it looks like (*knock on wood*) my program isn't slated for furloughs. We had enough vacancies at the beginning that we think we can make the cuts by abolishing vacant positions rather than putting existing employees on furlough. I hope things get better for your program soon!

I've missed being around. stops in briefly during a momentary pause in her week of revelry Hello FAWTLies! What a beautiful morning! Soon, I am off to get some much needed pampering in the form of a manicure and pedicure. And at long last, tonight I have the opportunity to watch Nationals baseball on my birthday!! (Better to have swept the series, but I'm happy to have baseball on my birthday no matter how it happened. :))
sneaks in and whispers very, very quietly I have fifteen minutes before I go on leave for two weeks. I'm hoping nothing explodes between now and when I'm due to leave. (Of course, there are two meetings happening while I'm on leave that I have to call in for, but that's better than cancelling my vacation entirely, which I considered, given everything that's going on at work right now.)
fumbles around to find her coffee i.v. setup G'morning, FAWTLies! How's your Friday? I'm not happy to be in the office on what should be my telework day, but on the up side, there is Pathfinder tonight. Campaign nattering ahoy: Our last session ended on a cliffhanger, with all but one member of the party dead in Hell, and the surviving member of the party fleeing the devils that killed the rest of us. The DM ran a solo for her between sessions, and we'll see if she managed to figure out how to get us back tonight. (I'm assuming she did, because we haven't been told to generate new characters.)

marches in, accompanied by bagpipes, carrying a set of tongs and a small plastic trash bag My fellow FAWTLies, we gather here today to offer a respectful disposal of our vanquished foe, A. Nony Mouse, member of the house of Rodentia. She fought a valiant battle, avoiding my traps and foraging in the kitchen for days, but at long last, her excursions into Kitchen Cabinetland are over. We must remain vigilant, however, for the armies of the House of Rodentia are legion.

wanders in wearing a gas mask Ugh. What a thoroughly crappy day. One of my employees just found out that her husband, who works for my library's parent agency, was seriously injured in a car accident while on official travel. Also, they're painting on the floor above mine, and the return air vents are dumping all the fumes right into our current workspace. And, on a purely selfish note, to add the cherry on top of the crap sundae, it's been raining all day which means tonight's baseball game is likely to be rained out. It will get better. Three and a half work days until vacation starts!
wanders in and flops down in a Comfy Chair Whatever genius in my library's parent agency decided that our performance evaluation cycle should run on the same calendar as our fiscal year deserves to be thumped on repeatedly with my Commemorative Cluebat (TM). Really, dealing with reams of paperwork and whiny employees while we're also trying to wrap up end of year budget issues and dealing with grumpy procurement people is SO not conducive to a positive work environment. Oh well, six workdays left until I go on leave for two weeks. I can cope 'til then.

Yeah, I'm feeling a little better today. Still stuffy, but normal 'fall allergy' level of stuffy rather than 'OMG give me a Hoover to suck the snot out of my sinuses before my head explodes!' stuffy. And I'm not alternating between fever and chills anymore, either, so that helps with my general state of well-being. I'll spare you my whining about work unless you really want to read it:
On the debit side of the ledger, though, I'm at the office instead of working from home today, which is kind of a bummer. (Especially since I have to participate in what are likely to be contentious meetings about our impending reorganization this afternoon. *grumble* They don't pay me anywhere near enough to put up with this crap, and won't even after I get the theoretical promotion that's supposed to come along with my position in our new, improved organizational structure.) I spent an entire month on Grand Jury Duty earlier this year. On the up side, we just had to determine whether there was enough evidence to go forward with a trial. On the downside, it was the Grand Jury that dealt primarily with sex crimes (though we did have a few other types of crimes-- theft, homicide, burglary, straight up assault). Mostly, though, it was a month of listening to women and children talk about the horrible things men have done to them. The world looked like a truly ugly place during that time. (And this comes from someone who has, at various points in the past, devoted a lot of volunteer hours to victims' advocacy groups, rape crisis centers, and domestic violence crisis centers. This was worse.)

That describes it pretty accurately. Ramblings of the navel-gazing variety: I'm an extreme introvert. Being around people is very tiring for me, and the number of people with whom I have close friendships and regular social interaction is VERY small. I tend to be really uncomfortable around strangers unless there's some built-in structure to the interaction. I almost never hang out in public places by myself. (Though I do spend a lot of time in bars with a small group of close friends.)
That said, I don't dislike people in general. And I don't like being alone all the time. Days when I start thinking everyone else in the world is a jerk really ought to be a cue to me that I need some solitary time to recharge. Either that or my blood-sugar is low and I need to eat something.
