I did a quick search under rules questions, but didn't see this covered and wanted some clarification. If I took a level of a class that granted a specific familiar (i.e. Leshy Warden Druid), and then switched to another class that also granted familiars (i.e. Eldritch Guardian Fighter), does the new class skill surrounding familiars get granted to the familiar from my previous class? For example, would my leaf Leshy now be granted all of my combat feats?

Hi! I posted this a few hours ago in the Strange Aeons, but I thought it might get more views and input over here :D

As soon as the plague finishes its run of terror and we're getting back together for gaming, my group will be starting Strange Aeons, and I'm super excited! For those of you who have played through it I would like a bit of character advice as I'm worried that my build I've designed will be less effective in later levels. Primarily she's an intimidate rogue build intended to bounce randomly and chaotically around the battlefield giggling and demoralizing her enemies.

I have a PDF of my build design here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e_osHjX_W5ZmneGIYpnn7LIfr4AIahgQ/view?usp= drivesdk

From a roleplay perspective she's Chaotic Neutral, and often pretends to be a human child to garner sympathy or to lure a victim into a false sense of security. She's intended to be somewhat creepy. She casts no shadow. Is apparently fearless, giggling at the horrors around her. And disappearing from sight at a moments notice.

Anyway I would appreciate thoughts and criticisms of the character build!

Thanks!

Hi! I was curious of how one might spec out a water elemental that has been filled with cornstarch to transform it into a Non-Newtonian fluid. If it moved slowly and relaxed it could envelope and suffocate, but if it moved quickly it would hit like concrete :D

Just for fun, but the idea intrigued me!

(2) - RT:Combat Trick (Two-Weapon Fighting)

Question for you animal companion experts. I've never played a class with an animal companion, and in researching I have found some conflicting information that I'd like clarified. Does an animal companion lose some of the feats and abilities listed for that animal under its bestiary entry, or does it gain those features in addition to its animal companion statistics?

For example, The entry for Velociraptor on pg 59 of Bestiary 4 says that they have weapon Finesse, Improved Initiative, and Evasion however none of these abilities are listed on the Velociraptor animal companion entry on pg 54 of the Core Rulebook. I have read guides that say high dex animals get weapon finesse for free, but don't point to any specific rule listed that supports this claim.

Also, if velociraptors do get evasion from lvl 1, do they then get improved evasion when the animal familiar gains that ability at lvl 3?

Thanks in advance for the help and advice!

So I was trying to build a White-Haired Witch and I came across this build https://www.myth-weavers.com/showthread.php?t=205787 The build is fundamentally flawed, but it gave me a few ideas and was a nice starting point. I have designed my own version and I wanted to present it for critique and advice on how to make it better.

Thanks in advance!

Okay. I got an email from Goblinworks with a link for installing Pathfinder Alpha. I go there and try to register, but it says my email is already in use so I use the forgot username link and it tells me there is no account associated with my email address. I follow the links to the Paizo link tool and it takes me to a blank page. Help?

I've searched for this and keep finding threads where people argue about what properties should or shouldn't be allowed on the amulet and it seems to boil down to what your GM will allow, but for Society play I'm sure there is some standardized list some where. Anyone know where to find it?

Liberty's Edge

I was at a society game Friday night when an issue with a fellow player came up. His character was in dire straits and nearly died when he learned that even though he had already played the scenario and was getting no rewards from it, if his character died he was still dead by society rules. He had a bit of a breakdown, said he was deleting his characters and never playing again. Immature way of handling things, sure, but it did make me wonder about the whole no rewards thing.

It does seem a bit harsh to impose the same penalties on a character when there is, in fact, no rewards at stake. If a player just wants to play to enjoy time with his friends and help out the group by offering an extra sword or spell it doesn't feel right that they should be at risk when they've nothing to gain out of it.

It's easy to tell someone "you don't have to play" or "suck it up, that's just how things are." But really it's kinda dickish. Gaming is meant to be a fun, sociable thing to do with your friends, and I don't see why even a small reward can't be given to replays or at least a limitation on the risks. Otherwise there really is no reason to replay a scenario and we're limiting our player base as noone in their right mind is going to gamble a character they've put a lot of time and effort into when there's nothing to get out of it.

Just starting this thread to get some thoughts and ideas churning, nothing here is intended to enflame or belittle the system.

I've been looking for a Pathfinder equivalent of a feat from 3.5 called short haft that would allow me to attack adjacent squares with a reach weapon. Someone at a game last night said there is one, but I haven't been able to find it. Any ideas?

Liberty's Edge

I've got a concept in my head for a Kitsune Oracle(Life)/Bard as a strictly support character and was wanting to see what people thought about her.

The image I have in my mind is someone who stays on the outskirts of combat, playing her flute, inspiring courage, buffing with bless spells, etc. To this end I was thinking of making Str her dump stat so that she would have high dex and Cha. This would be her stats after racial mods

Str 5
Dex 18
Con 10
Int 12
Wis 10
Cha 18

For beginning traits I was thinking of picking up:
Vagabond Child to make Disable Device a class skill and round out her skillset.
Sacred Touch: Prevent my teamates from dying if I can't heal them right away

Also considering Armor Expert to reduce the check penalty of masterwork chain shirt to 0

For weapon I'm thinking light crossbow. Doesn't rely on str, she can fire it when there's an opening for her to do so in combat.

First Revelation Channel
First Feat I was thinking Extra Revelation and taking safe curing so she can use healing spells without drawing AoO's

I won't be getting many feats from this build, but I thought rapid reload, point blank shot, and precise shot should at least be in there.

Maybe selective channeling.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Is there a posting somewhere of what racial playability sheets will be available at what con? I would like to play a Kitsune character, but have no idea where to go to get a sheet for one.

Hi there. I have pending orders from the goblinworks kickstarter that say they need an address from me before they can ship, however when I go to the section under my account for adding or changing shipping addresses it simply says "You have no active shipping address" There is no link to edit, or add an address at all. How do I add my shipping address?

One thing that I really want to see and that has been very lacking in the MMO world is extremely customizeable characters. City of Heroes does this right with a very VERY robust character appearance system. Especially for women I would like to see some more realistic options. Every Warrior woman running around with giant jiggling boobs might appeal to lots of people, but it seems almost a gaff. I would just like a slider for body type that can let us play something that doesn't look like they've spent all their gp on gnomish inflateable implants.

Liberty's Edge

Hey, guys! I'm pretty sure I'm reading this wrong, but I had a question concerning Magus rules.

I'll go ahead and post the abilities listed so people aren't bothered looking the abilities up :)

Spell Combat (Ex): At 1st level, a magus learns to cast spells and wield his weapons at the same time. This functions much like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell that is being cast. To use this ability, the magus must have one hand free (even if the spell being cast does not have somatic components), while wielding a light or one-handed melee weapon in the other hand. As a full-round action, he can make all of his attacks with his melee weapon at a -2 penalty and can also cast any spell from the magus spell list with a casting time of 1 standard action (any attack roll made as part of this spell also takes this penalty). If he casts this spell defensively, he can decide to take an additional penalty on his attack rolls, up to his Intelligence bonus, and add the same amount as a circumstance bonus on his concentration check. If the check fails, the spell is wasted, but the attacks still take the penalty. A magus can choose to cast the spell first or make the weapon attacks first, but if he has more than one attack, he cannot cast the spell between weapon attacks.

Spellstrike (Su): At 2nd level, whenever a magus casts a spell with a range of "touch" from the magus spell list, he can deliver the spell through any weapon he is wielding as part of a melee attack. Instead of the free melee touch attack normally allowed to deliver the spell, a magus can make one free melee attack with his weapon (at his highest base attack bonus) as part of casting this spell. If successful, this melee attack deals its normal damage as well as the effects of the spell. If the magus makes this attack in concert with spell combat, this melee attack takes all the penalties accrued by spell combat melee attacks. This attack uses the weapon's critical range (20, 19-20, 18-20 and modified by the keen weapon property or similar effects), but the spell effect only deals x2 damage on a successful critical hit, while the weapon damage uses its own critical modifier

So my question is this: Under the spellstrike ability it says that delivering the spell through your weapon is a "free melee attack" And can be used in concert with the Spell combat ability. It sounds as if the Magus can get 2 melee attacks with his weapon in a round prior to getting his extra attack for BAB+6 by merely casting a ranged touch spell and sending it through his weapon. To me it reads as though I could do this:

Chill Touch -> free attack with melee weapon to distribute spell at -2 penalty to attack -> attack normally with -2 penalty to attack

Am I completely confused on this or what? :)

Hey there! Usually I enjoy painting my miniatures myself, but I haven't played with miniatures in years and my paint supply is severely diminished. Does anyone know of any good painters for hire in the Portland, Oregon metro area and could put me in touch with them?

Liberty's Edge

Hi! I just recently joined the Pathfinder society and I was reading through the material for character creation and had a few questions.

I'm wanting to play a Dhampir, but I know that you have to have boons? or something like that to play non-core races? Could someone please explain how that works, and if these boons are possible to purchase outside of events, etc.

Second question I had: Is the Aldori Dueling blade legal equipment, and does the rule apply that if you have the exotic weapon feat to use it then you can apply weapon finesse to it as well?

I'm sure I will come across other questions, but hopefully this will get me started :)
