You'd probably need to run it in compatibility mode, and have "Run as Administrator" checked.

As a beginner DM, there are a couple of approaches to make, but my favorite things to suggest are: GM Gems, PC Pearls, Zen and the Art of Dungeon Mastering, and Hollow's Last Hope. (Disclaimer: I worked on GM Gems and PC Pearls.) Also, Roleplaying Tips latest article on 6 Ws should be required reading.

Familiarize yourself with the Player's Handbook first, THEN the Dungeon Master's Guide (not the other way around). Also remember that for every awesome adventure that you have (and you will have them), you will have some nights where you're off your game. Accept them, learn from them, and move on.

Becoming a great DM is about the journey, not the destination, for you can always improve your skills in some area. Just remember that it's a game and don't be afraid to make mistakes...and don't forget to come back to the boards with your questions. :D

You've got to be kidding me?! Why are Pathfinder/RPG books being stolen so much lately? Do they go for that much on e-bay/amazon? Or is this another case of once being a coincidence?

    Google Wave Questions
Lilith (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Planet Stories Subscriber),

    Chess-final 2 avatar

So far, it seems to have a lot of potential - that is what has me excited. There is a bot to handle dice rolls that you just have to invite to the wave (kinda like an always open IM conversation), the ability to share files and videos in the wave. My Wave game is an experimentation to learn by doing, as well as to play a PFRPG game through it.

The potential lies in the Extensions setup - basically plug-ins that allow you to expand what a wave can do. The current extensions let you have a voting process, Google Maps plug-in and similar simple things. Waiting to see what people come up with that can be used for gaming will be fun. After all, there seems to be a high percentage of gamers among the programmer set. :D

While you could certainly play a game through other means, for myself I'm curious in using this new piece of tech from Google. Learning by doing has always worked for me in the past.

Wasn't sure if they were freely available in the download packs or not. Either way, you'll want to provide a clear link in your program (through a menu option) with the OGL and CUP declarations.

I grew up on the original movies, and when my dad saw mine and my brother's interest in them, he immediately starting getting the Original Series and Next Generation from Columbia House. Family night with Star Trek - what could be better?

My dad told me once how he would haul his butt home to watch the original series when it aired religiously, and how much it inspired him to his career in the Air Force, which led to his love of computers and science, which led to my love of computers and science. So Star Trek has a lot of weight with me...even when it's bad. :D

Most of the Paizo community, while definitely beer lovers, aren't snobbish beer punks who won't touch a beverage they feel is below their unreachable standards, so don't be afraid if you make a so-so product. We're friends, not judges.

Unless someone here is a judge. Then I guess they're both. :P

I wish I had the talent and patience to do something like that, but, alas, I was thinking more along the lines of assisting with the financing of raw materials that were mentioned above, or something similar...

In other words, it's where you need it to be, but I think Lovecraft may have some ideas of its locale.

When I was diabetic, salmon was the most highly recommended meat, but I violently loathe the taste, so I just ate tuna every day (which is only like a third as good, omega 3 wise, IIRC). I'm not a huge fan of tuna, but mixed with horseradish or spicy brown mustard, it's pretty yummy, and since I wasn't eating bread, I would slice a green pepper in half and scoop the tuna in, and take it to work as a 'sandwich.' Super-low carb, fairly yummy and full of various stuff I needed.
