Lessien Nenmacil is the daughter of a working class Elf family from Magnimar.
As a child she was very bright, and her parents instilled in her the desire to work hard to better herself. When she finished primary school, she won a scholarship to the Twilight Academy in Galduria, and there she developed a great interest in medicine, biology, and alchemy.

During her years of academic study, Lessien excelled. The alchemical studies at the Twilight Academy were much more interesting than anything being done in more mainstream magical colleges. During school breaks, she took a job interning for a doctor who made the rounds of villages in the region, learning more about medicine by assisting him. The second year she joined him, Lessien more than earned her keep by also demonstrating her developing abilities at brewing potions and treating wounds.

Her parents made sure she did not lose sight of her heritage; Lessien continued to practice traditional Elven combat techniques, and gained good skill with a bow, as well as with close-in fighting. Her medical education actually helped with her combat training, giving her more insight into how to more effectively defend herself.

When she graduated from the academy, Lessien decided that she should spend a few years wandering the territory around Galduria, supporting herself with her medical skills.

On a trip into town to gather supplies, a messenger from the Twilight Academy tracked down Lessien, and gave her a note from a former professor of hers, Eligos Manzorian, asking her to come see him as soon as she could.

When Lessien arrived at the professor's offices, he seemed preoccupied. "Ms. Nenmacil...I'm glad we tracked you down so quickly. I need someone of your rather unique abilities to help a group gathering in Wolf's Ear. I can't tell you much more than that here, but know that your assistance is very much needed."
