This may sound absurd but do we recognise who the monastery is dedicated to as in what deity? If required Leo will make a Religion check which rolled a 11+6 for 17 to dientify which faith the Sister and the Monastery follows.

Geleri Fairwind wrote:
Fairwind rolls her eyes, "Preacher-man, I reckon you be wantin' to take that knife offa him. He's liable to be sendin' himself to meet Kelemvor pretty darn quick." she says to Leo, "Unless you ain't got a problem with suicide."

"Its does seem a waste after all we might have to release them into someone else's custody and he (gestures at Devlin) might even have an arrangement to be released whose to say he can't arrange for your brother to be raised after all why do you think he's so calm about all of this?" Leo explains

Do I need to make another diplomacy check to persuade Harrak out of either committing suicide or going on a rampage?

Rev DM wrote:

Harrak turns to Leo. "Where he goes, I go."

He turns pick up his brother's body.

"No offence but why not say he goes where you go at least then you would have saved a little time with the grave digging, so were they always like this?" Leo asks Devlin moving the shovel he was using to help dig the hole over his shoulder in case either of the two are about to start another fight although Leo suspects Harrak has other plans.

"You don't have to hide that you know, its perfectly understandable that you want something to remember your brother but at this moment of time don't you think its a little silly to endanger yourself?" Leo asks Harrak his tone perfectly calm, civil and understanding.

Diplomacy check rolled an 11+10 for a total of 21 attempting to defuse the situation in case Harrak is intent on a suicidal assault which might allow Devlin to take advantage of the situation

Rev DM wrote:

In silence, with Brujo in close attendance, Harrak helps dig the graves. He works methodically, carefully patting down the soil and preparing the place for his brother and fallen comrade with care.

He only speaks once. "We have never been parted."

Once the work of digging is complete, Harrak goes back to his brother and carefully folds the dead hands over his chest.

Perception check from anyone close please. DC 15

Wasn't sure if Leo counts as close enough, but rolled a 15+7 for 22 for the Perception check

"Their deeds, evil and otherwise, are now in the hands of the gods to judge. There is no reason for us to dishonor the remains. If you do not care to dig, that is your choice."

Cronin begins to dig, about forty feet from the campfire.

Leo gives Cronin a hand, helping to speedily dig the grave for Allen and Farrak.

As like this? (Wasn't sure I got that right)

"Would Chryzylyx mind if we used her fire to burn the remains I mean use one of the embers to burn the dog's body?" Leo asks.

Brujo wrote:

"We shouldn't leave them like this. The least we can do is bury them." Brujo looks at the others. "No one deserves to be laid out like this."

How long would it take to digs holes?

"Better burn the hounds remains though, just to be safe," Leo nods towards the undead dog.

Commander Caine wrote:

Commander Caine wrote:

Prisoners. Can we torture them by making them listen to us sing?

Spending another healing surge to raise HP to 32.

Leo turns to look at Commander Caine.

"Perhaps once we can divulge how far we can trust them we can decide on how much we can risk dealing with them, torture however is better left for far more precarious circumstances," he suggests.

Catching the look from some of the other.
"Okay I was willing to kill him, but as I said I do listen to reason and some things that need to be understood I deliberately made clear with my actions so I'd know where you stand on the matter," Leo shrugs.

Looking over at Fairwind and the approaching Devlin.
"Curious, I wonder where your other friend went?" he whispers under his breath not enough for Devlin to hear but for anyone else in the party close enough to notice Leo has now glanced over to where the Dark Eyed One disappeared.

Rev DM wrote:

Appropriately enough under the circumstances...

Harrak coughs and opens his eyes to find a sword at his throat. Seconds pass as the man realises that the body beside him belongs to his twin. He slumps, apparently unable to do or say anything, eyes glazed and expression blank.

"Congratulations it appears Kelemvor has spared your life, I suggest you don't squander it by doing something truly foolish," Leo tells him.

"Thank you for speaking up, whilst I truly don't care for anyone who traffics with the making of undead that doesn't mean I won't listen to reason, perhaps someone would disarm our friend here and tie his hands before his wounds are tended to?" Leo says to the others nodding his thanks to Cronin whilst keeping Harrak at sword point until he's disarmed and secured.

(OOC: Its also nice to know just how far the others are prepared to go in such matters.)

Cronin wrote:

Cronin looks after Fairwind for a moment, then turns his attention to what he can affect. "We should bind him," he says to no one in particular. "Someone who's unhurt."

Cronin looks to his new companions' wounds.

I've got a healing word left, so whomever is most hurt can use a highly effective surge (regular value +1d6+4).

"I'm fine," Leo tells Cronin

(Leo employs second wind at this point reducing the amount of damage he's taken by 9 to 6 thanks to the 7pts of temp hp he had from Caine's bastion of defence and once the fight is over only needs to spend one more healing surge to up to full which would mean he'd have spent 4 of his 10 healing surges)

Moving towards Harrak Leo addresses the others present.

"Does anyone vouch for this person or do I finish him here and now?" He asks placing his longsword at Harrak's throat in the process making sure he's actually unconscious and not feigning by keeping his guard up.

(OOC: This is NOT a bluff, Leo is Unaligned and whilst he doesn't much care for killing even Harrak whilst he's down he was hunting Brujo for the express purpose of having him killed and reanimated something that is much against Leo's faith, BUT that doesn't mean Leo won't allow the rest of the party present from intervening on Harrak's behalf (And yes I'm noting this because I've actually playing in a campaign where the player running the paladin does this to any evil foe we've captured using by means that make him even more evil than the npc he's killed) so I feel obliged to allow the party to prevent this if they want)

Commander Caine wrote:
How many HP do I add, Leo? 9?

(OOC: What you recover if you had spent the healing surge, if its 9 then 9 it is)

"Took them long enough to get the hint, though!" Leo yells back to Perigia.

(OOC: Technically its Perigia's turn next but I thought I'd post mine early)

Seeing Caine looking about to keel over Leo rushes behind him and steadies him.
"In Kelemvor's name let this man's wounds be healed!" Leo intones as he uses his last lay on hands for the day.

(OOC: Move action to move to E12 I assume a minor action is enough to allow Leo to keep Caine on his feet as he uses his standard action for the Lay on of Hands and spend one of Leo's healing surges to allow Caine to recover as if he spent one of his?)

Cronin wrote:

Cronin steps forward and once again invokes the sacred flame, this time on Allan. With it, Cronin's allies begin to recover from their woes.

Sacred Flame vs Allan's Reflex (1d20 6=25, 1d6 6=11)

Move to C10. Leo gets to make a saving throw.

(OOC: Rolled a 10 for the save)

Leo is suddenly swathed in glimmering moonlight which ebbs as quickly as it appears and he suddenly stands upright as if some great load has been lifted off his shoulders (or in this case wound).

(OOC: Sorry should say waxes and wanes can never get those two the right way round!)

Very briefly confused when Leo and Chryzylyx swapped positions Leo falls back into his intensive training as he whispers a quick prayer.

"Kelemvor guide my arm and make it tell true upon this abomination!" he mutters as a brief glow flashes outwards engulfing the hound before him before fading from sight.

(Minor action as a divine challenge descends upon the hound)

Even as this fades Leo's sword flashes forward but stumbling because he's still recovering from the sudden shift in position the blade is far off target.

(Holy strike with the longsword rolled a 1 for a total of 10 and yes an automatic miss)

Face falling as a result of this Leo's resolve hardens as he grimaces even as he swings his sword back again in an attempt to keep his guard up.

(Spends an action point to make another attack again with the Holy Strike and this time rolls a 17+9 for 26 doing 1d8+6 as its still marked as the description doesn't say it ends if you miss only that you either have to attack it or end up adjacent for it to stay active for a total of 8pts of radiant damage (or 7 if I'm wrong about it being marked))

This time the blade connects and it literally bursts into light illuminating the area before fading once more...

She was at 5hp.
Ah, my mistake. I thought she was already dying.

(OOC: Would have been given the hound is on top of her along with the damage she had taken so you could say Brujo saved her life and you made sure she has a chance to actually survive)

Anyone know what damage the Pain of Death daily power a Paladin can use does?

It doesn't say radiant it simply says how much damage it does... anyone know what type of damage it is?

Rev DM wrote:
Leo, would that be radiant damage you're doing there?

Rev DM wrote:

Thunder burst: burst 1 within 10, aimed at E13.

(OOC: Isn't that Scorching Burst?)

Feeling annoyed at the sudden blast and unable to reach the source of the attack or rather who he thinks is responsible Leo allows his temper to fade as he intones an ancient prayer.
"Kelemvor in these times of sadness and pain bring forth your will upon those who deserve divine judgment," Leo speaks out his face grave as he looks out upoin the remaining foes.

(Minor action uses Holy Symbol's daily power to grant Chryzylyz a +5 power bonus to her saving throw to end that necrotic damage effect as previously mentioned, as a standard action Leo unleashes his daily power of "On Pain and Death" at the undead hound rolling a 13 for a total of 17 to hit which if it does inflicts 3d8+3 damage for a total of 13pts of damage or 6pts if it missed however once per round after it makes an attack it takes an additional 1d8 damage (1d4 if missed) which this round would be 6pts if it hit or 3pts if it missed and a save would end this effect as per normal rules)

A brief flicker of light consumes the undead hound causing it to shudder and quake from the shock which then seemingly subsides...

(OOC: Leo then converts his move action into another minor action so he can lay on hands on Brujo allowing him to recover hp as if he had spent a healing surge (Leo instead spent one of his))

Leo reaches out and lays his hand on Brujo's shoulder.
"In the name of Kelemvor heal and overcome this evil blight that has so imperiled your life!" Leo intones as a light briefly flickers from Leo and surrounds Brujo before fading as abruptly.

Cronin wrote:

Move to B12.
Cascade of Light vs Hound (Will) (1d20 6=25, 3d8 6=19)
Note that that is radiant damage. Also, the hound gains vulnerability 5 to all my attacks, save ends.

(OOC: Sorry for the interruption but Leo's Holy Symbol of Hope has an immediate reaction that grants any ally within 5 squares a +5 power bonus to saving throws to end an effect just bringing this up now so Chryzylyx's player knows in advance its being used and can count it in for the saving throw in case it gets missed later on when it's Leo's go as it also means Leo's Minor action has been used up but more on that later.)

Rev DM wrote:

Caine slashes at the hound in passing, adding a new floating tatter of flesh to its hide.

Brujo's attack catches Farrak squarely in the gut, provoking another un-nerving communal scream from both twins. He does not fall however.

Devlin sneers and shifts, prodding at Brujo with his halberd. His blade glances aside.

"Farrak, I'm thinking it's time you said hello to our long lost pal here." he nods at the eladrin and Farrak's dagger heads for Brujo's chest and slices neatly into his ribcage.

Devlin's Hammer and Anvil; Target is Brujo, power allows ally adjacent to target to basic melee attack at 2 - in this case Farrak also on Brujo: (1d20 6=13, 2d10 8=19). Farrak gets his extra attack whether Devlin hits or not.
Farrak's extra attack on Brujo courtesy of Devlin's Hammer and Anvil power: (1d20 7=21, 1d4 7=11)

And as he does so Farrak is immediately transfixed by a sudden blaze of white light that fades abruptly but not before sending a visible and very painful shudder through the dagger wielder's body.

(Farrak and Harrak are both marked he's at -2 to attack which makes no difference to the attack but it does inflict 5pts of radiant damage on him though...)

"Kelemvor grant me the strength to smite your foes!" Leo snarls cutting loose upon Harrak.

(Minor Action releases Divine Strength meaning Leo gets to add +3 to the damage of his next attack)

Swinging his longsword the moment before it strikes its blade becomes swathed in glittering silver spikes as it tears at Harrak.

(Piercing Smite rolled a natural 20 for a total of 29 vs his Reflex if its a confirmed critical instead of rolling 2d8+8 I have to maximise that die damage but roll an additional 2d6 to add on top for a total of 32 damage if not then its just 2d8+8 for 16pts of damage in any case both Harrak and Farrak are now marked until the end of Leo's next turn I had planned to spend an action point to follow up with a Holy Strike but the natural 20 makes me want to wait until next turn in case I fumble it instead)

The sudden release of seemingly harmless white light emanating from Leo's Longsword sheds from its blade and briefly passes through both of the twins before fading...

Leo blinks now just realizing someone has cast a spell that seems to have effected both of the twins...

"Oh dear," he mutters wondering if his blow would have been as effective had the spell not been cast.

Got mine yesterday have to admit it looks really good and I wish it had come out earlier as there's a few more ideas in there worthy of perusing.

Well, if you want to swap stuff out at this stage, I'm open to suggestions.

How about this. You deal with the current combat with your stats and abilities as they stand. At the end of that, you can check your character abilities in the light of new information and make some one time amendments if desired. Ritual casters may well be happy to learn that there is some new stuff in there for them for example.

As always, any such changes will need to be GM approved, but I trust you not to unbalance yourselves or the party.

No I'll keep it as is, but it does provide options for later on though.

Appreciate the gesture though, but I'm learning 4e as it is and I'm having great fun as a result!

Devlin grins, nods at the twins who draw evil looking daggers and readies his halberd. From the other group comes the sound of eldritch muttering and the noise of a sword being drawn.

"Yes shame, I'd suggest you'd run but I'm actually going to enjoy wiping that smug grin from your faces," Leo sighs looking at the trio utterly unimpressed by their bravado.

(Intimidate check rolled a total of 20)

Leo is wandering around the trees' perimeter surveying the area taking note of that section with what looks like barrels or chests before completing the circuit which should give an idea how steep that hill is before focusing on that road to the south.
"Exactly which direction did you reach the shelter of this tree from?" Leo asks.
"I'm wondering if we should be worried about enemies coming from all sides let alone from the south," Leo explains carefully stretching to ease the aches and pains from the night's vigil.

(OOC: Sorry I keep missing bits from the decsription!)

Brujo wrote:
"I have no clue who's leading them. Just a mashup of gnolls, orcs, and humans. And sometimes 'hired help'", He strecthes his tired limbs, and looks through his traveling gear. He pulls out some trail rations and begins to eat.

"No undead, oh sorry Fairwind, afraid religious training kicked in there, I'll try and keep it down," Leo replies shaking his head as he returned his attention to the perimeter.

Brujo wrote:

"Escape is not tolerated in Thay. Especially the escape of a slave. Especially a slave who was meant to be reanimated in the service of Thay.", Brujo raises the shirt on his back. There sits an ugly brand.

"How long...since I can remember. I have no clue when I escaped, only that I did. Only two things I remember clearly. Sitting waiting to die and be reanimated in a crow cage, and standing outside a tunnel that lead to the plateau. And since than they've been behind me."

"Well Kelemvor will have something to say about that!" Leo rasps drawing his sword and settling his shield into battle readiness.

Leo mentally repeats a prayer taught to him as a child and readies himself, if this one was right Leo thought whoever was out there was about to have a really bad day with one potential piece of good luck, since they weren't going to reanimated as part of Thay's army not if he had anything to say about it!

"Any idea of whom might be leading the force coming after you even if its just a guess?" Leo asks.

Brujo wrote:
"The Dread Legions are Thay's army. The army is made mostly of the undead, but gnoll, orc, shifter, and slaves round out the bottom." Brujo starts to drift off on remembering his time there.

"Okay, how long have you been trying to keep ahead of them then?" Leo asks politely almost embarrassed that he thought they were Netherese.

"Perhaps the better question is just how much do they want you back?" Leo adds thoughtfully.
"That might give us an idea on what we're about to face and who we need to discourage further pursuit," Leo frowns pausing only to brush the holy symbol he is openly wearing clearly a symbol of Kelemvor.

"Sounds fine, where exactly did he fall?" Leo replies.

"Would whoever's there care to step out into the light, its an awful night and it would be a shame to make it worse by turning it into a fight, let's try and get along shall we?" Leo calls out hoping whoever or whatever it is would either take up his offer or move off spooked by the lack of fear.

(Diplomacy check: rolled an 18+11 for a 29 would that help ease the nerves of those present, well other than those who now think Leo is insane)

I am getting a distinct were-rat feel here...getting jumpy, but he seems to be a jumpy type, so she isnt worried. her interest is drawn more to the hulking human warrior who seems determined to lead someone somewhere.

"Caine, is it?" she asks. I go to the Spell-tower on the morrow and have little desire to go alone. An escort would suit me." She appreciates his animal magnetism, but is a little put off by his short temper.

It is the pair of half-elves who most interests her. She is unaccustomed to these 'mixed' racves, and finds their feywild auras to be intriguing. She feels each of them is more than they first appear. Turning towards the male: "What say you, sir? Shall we travel together to Spellgard as a grouop? your sword may come in handy, though I have powers of my own. Her eyes slowly turn to the departing female half-elf, and she marvels at the ease with which the woman fades into the shadows outside the firelight. Her hand slowly draws her pact-blade, and she sighs, knowing that she is enwrapped as ever, in the protection of Feywild.

"It would be an interesting endeavour," Leo acknowledges.

"Please excuse me a moment if you will," he bows slightly as drawing his sword he moves after Fairwind at least in so far that he can back her up if needed (Assuming she is using Stealth so Leo would be looking for whatever's spooked the horses but will remain close to them to avoid revealing Fairwind's approach).
"You were saying something about a widow, what exactly is she seeking help for?" Leo asks Caine as he looks out from the shelter.

"Guess I just jinxed someone again..." Leo sighs as he prepares to draw his longsword but scans the area with his elf blood enhanced vision whilst waiting for Fairwind to try and persuade whatever it is that coming in peace was better than getting cut into pieces by attacking them.

(OOC: Do you want to handle the rolls? I'm still getting to grips with computer die rolling)

"The fire is most welcome, Perigia."

Cronin is on the small side for a shifter. He wears chainmail under a battered traveling cloak, and no obvious weapons. A silver medallion bears the symbol of Selune, which some might consider an odd choice for one of his race.

Cronin sits near Chryzylyx and opens his own back, bringing out some jerky. "Thank you, friend elf. But let us not share meat with strangers. I am Cronin."

Realizing that sleep would not come soon, the fair haired wizard got up and walked over to the small clump of people. "Selune's blessing to you all," she said. Gathering a small clump of sticks together she put them in a circle in a dry spot under the trees. "I have only enough food for myself, but I will offer the gift of warmth this chill evening." With a few uttered words and some minor gestures a small flame appeared among the sticks and soon had grown to a small but warming fire. "My name is Perigia."

"My name is Leo and its nice to see you all," Leo smiles back still a little wide eyed as the storm continues to howl and rain pelts around them their shelter keeping them dry but the fire slowly warms them from the wind.

"Well met indeed, it seems this storm is indeed an omen of some portent. And welcome there should be plenty of shelter here," Leo greets her wondering what this bodes as he slowly recounts the number of travellers taking shelter from the storm.

Leo briefly wipes his face clear of the rain only to have more pour down upon him.
"Merciful heavens, this downpour has the markings of some omen, but good or bad I'll have to wait and see and to do that..." he mutters to himself as he strides towards the availing cover of the trees before him.

[quote=]Can I use this to upgrade the Holy Symbol of Hope+1 that Leo has to a Holy Symbol of Battle+1 ?

The amount mentioned is more than the difference between the Level 3 Holy Symbol and the Level 5 Symbol of Battle+1, will await response if no will simply choose to upgrade the long sword to a Magic+1. My gut preference would be for you to upgrade the longsword and keep the level 3 Holy symbol. It just seems more balanced that way to me.

Okay will amend accordingly.

Ack. I seem to have thoroughly confused everyone. Let's try this again.

To compensate, the non ritual casters (Brujo, Caine, Geleri and Leo) can have an additional 150gp (roughly what 3 level 1 rituals would cost). Which brings you up to 375gp. So, if you want to buy yourselves a level 1 magic item, you can do so.

Commander Caine, if you want to do something to upgrade your AC, you're free to do it, since you can probably afford it now.

If the ritual casters don't want to take advantage of starting package rituals, they can take the extra money instead.

Go shop. Tell me what you've got. I'm about to assemble a game thread :D

The obvious gap is specialist controller.

Just for reference, could you all note your time zones for me? Some of them I roughly know, but tell me if I'm wrong. (Pluses and minuses from UK time)

Rev Rosey - UK
Fabes - UK
Radavel - +8 hours
Pat - -5 hours
Lazaro - ? but we often seem to overlap
hopeless - UK
Otto - ?
David Fryer - ?

Thanks. Is there anything in particular that might be needed if I have to step in? I want to play a firesoul Genasi, but I am pretty open to any class.

There was a pdf regarding living forgotten realms and there was even an intro to the new 4e faerun which involved the Drow, Genasi and even the Swordblade, I'll doublecheck later and see about the firesoul bit since I don't have access to it at the moment.

Leo has come to Spellgard to ask Lady Saharel what she wants whether its to be freed to pass on, returned to life to finish the life she had or at least her feelings on the matter if she chooses to remain as she is.

He is a Paladin of Kelemvor after all, but he will wait for the others to ask their question since he would sincerely want to pose the question with appropriate politeness.

Okay hope this fits in with what you wanted for this game.

(OOC: How do you set up that spoiler bit?)
