Cybernetics, Shadow Piercings, the above mentioned flesh crafting as well as a few other odds and ends that you will rarely run into.

So yeah it doesn't show up much without the first three I mentioned.

And yeah now I have some ideas to theory craft and do art for a cleric of Shax.

A while ago I had an idea for a Paladin of Vildeis Cenobite looking pc.

I use heroforge for my pcs.

Here is my War Priest of Norgorber that I will probably never play.

The cover art for this is killer!

Anyways, I don't know who any of these people are except for that one former ruler of Outworld. ;)

I just used this guide to help theory craft a pc I might be playing. Again I have to say great guide. Love your guides they are so fun to read.

Now I DO remember that you can't take Attacks of Opportunity when using Total Defense (and it even says so right there).

Ha that I know. However, that's not what I was asking. I worded the question poorly. I meant if that feat gave you cover then you can't be the target of AO'S.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I was thinking that it would apply to the Little Wall shield trick as well. Glad this came up here! So no attacks of opportunity when using that trick. I think anyways.

Shield Tricks

Little Wall (Escape Artist 5 ranks): You can contort your body behind your shield in order to gain a brief moment of security. Whenever you use the total defense action, you may choose to gain cover instead of the normal dodge bonus to AC.

Yes no?

On another note, I guess this allows you to have 360 cover?

With regard to Disconcerting Knowledge...do size modifiers still apply?

Energy Body (Su): As a standard action, you can transform your body into pure life energy, resembling a golden-white fire elemental. In this form, you gain the elemental subtype and give off a warm, welcoming light that increases the light level within 10 feet by one step, up to normal light. Any undead creature striking you with its body or a handheld weapon deals normal damage, but at the same time the attacker takes 1d6 points of positive energy damage + 1 point per oracle level. Creatures wielding melee weapons with reach are not subject to this damage if they attack you. If you grapple or attack an undead creature using unarmed strikes or natural weapons, you may deal this damage in place of the normal damage for the attack. Once per round, if you pass through a living allied creature's square or the ally passes through your square, it heals 1d6 hit points + 1 per oracle level. You may use this ability to heal yourself as a move action. You choose whether or not to heal a creature when it passes through your space. You may return to your normal form as a free action. You may remain in energy body form for a number of rounds per day equal to your oracle level.

Oh thanks!

Yeah I will use that in the future. :)

Is it unlimited?

Tentacles (Su)
Source Horror Realms pg. 7
Type Exploit of the Outer Rifts

As a swift action, the arcanist can spend 2 points from his arcane pool to sprout a pair of rubbery tentacles that grow from his upper chest. At the same time, his arms shrink into sickly, malformed stubs, capable of only rudimentary actions such as lifting small objects or making somatic gestures. Rings, bracers, and other items worn on the atrophied arms and hands remain in place, but magic items that require hands to activate cannot be used while the arcanist’s arms are in this state. Likewise, the use of weapons or shields is impossible during this time. The arcanist has full control over his hideous tentacles and can use them to deliver touch spells, or as secondary natural weapons that deal tentacle damage as appropriate for a creature of the arcanist’s size (1d4 for Medium arcanists, or 1d3 for Small ones) modified by 1/2 the arcanist’s Strength score. The arcanist’s reach with these tentacles is 5 feet longer than his normal reach.

That seems reasonable.

Last thing I just thought of...multiple grapplers.

Once per round per grappler makes sense to me.

Love ratlings probably the best familiar in the game for a spellcaster.

Plus they would be awesome to rp.

Thematically what to play...how about the Tatterdemalion witch?

Dimensional Step Up -- the once per day limit on usage kills this for what it does (and doesn't do).
I think the BAB of +12 is the real bummer. :(

That and the fact it's got a significant probability of it being a suicide run:

Oh! My opponent is using a teleport effect to escape, I will use this 1/day effect to follow him! This is a great idea! My friends don't know where I (and my opponent) have teleported to, so they have trouble following... and I need a separate way of coming back... Do you think my enemy might teleport to somewhere where he has lots of friends and backup? What a silly idea that would be for an opponent who's trying to escape...

That is what makes the feat so awesome!

You have literally no idea where you are going, and have no guaranteed way to return. It is baller, AF. The dedication... the obsession... that manic pursuit... total reckless abandon... I love it.

The live action version of this feat!!!

:)

My take:

It's fire so it is touch AC.

I don't think it was intended but you can full attack with it the way it was written.

You can only be on fire once.

You're the DM make it work how you want to. I recommend against being on fire more than once. ;)

Pretty sure he means in real life. Also a fair number of warhammers had a blade or spike on the top you could jab people with. I've even seen smaller spikes on the sides.

Many weapons are depicted woefully wrong by the game mechanics and even the descriptions and images are way off.

I always was under the impression that they were just super dense points of matter where the gravitational force overcame the umm small or weak nuclear force or both or whatever. I science person! :) Xo you believe something different than that?

Anyways, just curious. Thanks. :)

The question "what they are" makes an assumption that there really is something there to begin with.

As of now, all we have are gaps between observation and models, e.g.: We don't know whether there really is something huge in the center of the Milky Way (or other galaxies), all we know is that the observable stars move/behave different than our models predict.

That's why I gave the examples with the Epicycles (and the Dark Matter): Epicycles were a concept introduced to fit the data to the model. In the end it might just be that our models (or some calculations) are off ("wrong").

Even in the old Newtonian physics -- before our understanding of Gravity as geometry of space-time -- there was the concept of a "Black Hole", back then called a Dark Star. It's basically the same idea, with gravity being too strong for light to escape (Newtonian physics did not include whether light was affected by gravity or not).

Since the matter whether they exist has not yet been settled, you're free to believe in their existence or not. Many, many people believe they exist, but I'm not one of those. I believe the universe to be an interesting, fascinating place, full of wonder -- Black Holes are the very opposite of that: dull, boring blobs with no interesting features [no hair theorem] - they're like giant turds of the universe.

Interesting. As for them existing I can't say you're wrong...I can't say you're right. I find black holes interesting...somewhat terrifying... :)

Anyways, thanks. /end derail

For the record I'm not denying something exists. I made it clear that it was my experience in my first post.

However, I'm stating that as a whole and overall I don't think(yes think) that this hobby is unwelcoming and discriminatory based on race, sex, religion etc. etc.

I've never seen this at any table I played at or DM'd at.

Nor have I witnessed it at the many, many tables, games etc. I observed and whose players/dm's I spoke with.

I remember playing back in the days when you had to hide your books.

This is a game that was played more by those that were the outcasts or the unpopular. Many of which were playing a game to be someone else. Doesn't seem like a recipe for breeding exclusivity to me.

Further, I've seen nothing but non-whites, non-males etc. be welcomed with open arms.

My view is that the discrimination in this hobby is few and far between. Your mileage may vary.

I think that if you look for discrimination everywhere you'll find it everywhere real and imagined.

So I think(yes that word again) that my data is more accurate than it is inaccurate(based on all the people I've spoke with and observed as per above). I have no way to prove this. Your experience may be different and that is fine.

I will say that not playing with people who are a~!*+&%s, difficult to play with, different play style, poor hygiene etc. is fine.

I will also say that age is another metric by which you can exclude someone namely because some games are just not appropriate for the younger crowd.

This is going to be my last post in this thread as I'm just not interested in back and forth walls of text and thinking about this for hours ruining my day. Especially when tone and inflection are lost in text. This thread got derailed and I'm partially to blame. Apologies. With any luck it gets back on track. I wish you all happy and plentiful gaming even if you disagree with me. Ciao. :)

It may be worth mention the hobby was historically pretty unwelcoming to people who weren't straight cis white males, despite some of the fundamental forerunners being very much not male, not straight, not cis, and not white.

Never ever have I found this to be even remotely true.

Every group I've been in has never discriminated on anything but is this person going to be good to play with or not.

Not that I want to get into an argument about it or to have it derail the thread. Just my experience over a life time of gaming.

It's hard to say which of many possible versions of the Zulfiqar the game designers were trying to emulate with these rules.

I've almost always seen it depicted as the second picture.

However, this wiki article explains it much better than I can.

Zulfiqar

I'm still leaning to the second picture here is why:

In Qajar Iran, actual swords were produced based on the legendary double-pointed design. Thus, the Higgins Collection holds a ceremonial sabre with a wootz steel blade, dated to the late 19th century, with a cleft tip. The curator comments that "fractures in the tip were not uncommon in early wootz blades from Arabia" suggesting that the legendary double-pointed design is based on a common type of damage incurred by blades in battle. The tip of this specimen is split in the blade plane, i.e. "For about 8" of its length from the point the blade is vertically divided along its axis, producing side-by-side blades, each of which is finished in itself", in the curator's opinion "a virtuoso achievement by a master craftsman".[7] Another 19th-century blade in the same collection features a split blade as well as saw-tooths along the edge, combining two possible interpretations of the name Dhu-l-Faqar. This blade is likely of Indian workmanship, and it was combined with an older (Mughal era) Indian hilt.[8]

This blade is pictured at the bottom of the page and matches the second picture.

That being said weapons often known by different names in different places or times. I don't think it would be a stretch to say that different weapons are known by the same names in certain cases.

Therefore, whichever you think looks the most cool. :)

Description
This opaque orb contains the distilled essence of sunlight. On command up to once per day, it releases a small vial of sunlight that produces a bright light in its square for 1 hour, during which time it provides enough energy to satisfy a single plant creature’s daily nourishment requirements. The light counts as natural sunlight in the square containing the vial. If the vial enters the square of an undead creature with a weakness to sunlight, the creature can attempt a DC 11 Will save; if it succeeds, the vial is instantly extinguished. The creature can attempt this saving throw each round the vial remains in its square, but the sunlight isn’t strong enough to actually damage creatures susceptible to sunlight. Shattering the vial extinguishes its light. A vial has hardness 2 and 5 hit points. After the orb has released 50 vials of sunlight, it loses its magical properties.

To clarify this looks like an update to the original item, am I seeing that right?

Because this comes from Ultimate Wilderness, which was close to the last book for PF1.

Looks like it.

To be clear it was reprinted like this in both these books: Ultimate Wilderness pg. 25, Heroes of the Darklands pg. 10
