Description
Lejes is a slender man with thick elvish blood most apparent in his exotically tilted topaz eyes and sharply pointed ears. His hair is deepest sable and worn free like the mane of a wild horse. Lejes wears simple clothing of sturdy canvas, leather and wool in earth tones..the better to blend into the wilderlands. Perhaps most surprising is Lejes' rumbling voice...a voice too deep for any elf and his steely determination. While he has a whimsical side, Lejes tries to balance out duty and play in his lifestyle with fierce discipline.
Background
Spoiler:
Lejes was a woodsman's son. He and his father Leoris mainly lived in the foothills surrounding the Ravenroost hunting and trapping in the forests nearby. Lejes never knew his mother save for the occasional story told to him across a cookfire, in her place he learned of Gozreh. While Lejes and his father came to Sandpoint to sell pelts, meat and other sundries, Leoris seemed to prefer avoiding other folks...an attitude that Lejes would find harder and harder to accept as he grew older. Though quickly learning about woodscraft, despite his handicap, Lejes didn't care for the isolation and traveled to Sandpoint when he was 15 years old to learn about the people there. After a few weeks of exploring the town and hearing its sounds, Lejes finally found the Sandpoint Cathedral and the shrine to Gozreh there. Excited and filled with a zeal he'd never known before, Lejes spent a few weeks learning about the faith of Gozreh before returning to Ravenroost to find his father. What he found was disaster. Marauding Birdcruncher goblins, evinced by pulped birds laid out in odd patterns, had struck his father's cabin...raiding it for his food stores and weapons. In the smoldering remnant of the cabin, Lejes found Gozreh's power for the first time as he attempted to heal his father's charred corpse. Lejes tried and tried, until even his newfound blessings left him and he knelt, exhausted over his father's body. When the rains finally came, some time later, Lejes shook himself from his stupor and realized something. For all his strengths, his father had created his own weakness with his self-imposed exile. Just as Gozreh is Wind and Water, Male and Female...so too must all things in nature balance themselves. True strength, Lejes decided, would be to live amongst the people of Sandpoint while still holding true to Gozreh's teachings. Filled with determination once more, Lejes returned to Sandpoint some time later and joined Father Zantus in finishing to rebuild the Sandpoint Cathedral and to teach the people of Sandpoint about Gozreh...and the perils of leading a life without a natural balance.
