My copy of the Beta rules is one of the few PF books I'm keeping.
The movie reminded me of why I liked comic books in the first place. (That is to say, I enjoyed myself and would see it again.)
Look at Golarion. If that doesn't assuage your fears, there are plenty of retro clones for your old school fix.
Made of Pwnsome.

The toucan should, of course, grant you the scent ability. :)

This information was something that should have been in this volume's Bestiary, or in the Player's Guide, but somehow slipped out of both books! So here's the information you're looking for:
Other Piratical Familiars
Trained animals are extremely popular among pirates, serving as pets, ship's mascots, and company on lengthy voyages. Pirate spellcasters prove no different than their shipmates in their interest in pets, and find having an exotic familiar wins them bragging rights and a degree of status. Creatures like blue-ringed octopuses, goats, hawks, rats, lizards, king crabs, monkeys, rats, scarlet spiders, snapping turtles, vipers, weasels all serve as existing examples of potential pirate familiars that appear in either the Bestiary or Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Magic. Additionally, the statistics for many existent familiars might be used to represent more exotic, piratical familiars. The following table presents a variety of such exotic familiars, statistics that can be used to represent them, and the benefits of having them as familiars (which, in some cases, vary from the familiar creatures whose statistics they share).
Pirate Familiars
Dodo - Master gains a +2 bonus on initiative checks
Dwarf caiman - Master gains a +3 bonus on Stealth checks
Giant isopod - Master gains a +1 natural armor bonus to AC
Parrot (as raven (cannot speak) - Master gains a +3 bonus on Linguistics checks
Seal - Master gains a +3 bonus on Swim checks
John is right. IF Razor Coast ever comes out, it'll be released in Pathfinder. IF Razor Coast comes out, I like the idea of converting the Indulgences to Pathfinder.
Those things on the "mystery race" aren't its extra hands - they're Kuato.

I miss you, Nick. Can't wait to see you this summer.
Logue and Pett in the same room..bring on the Apocalypse..
That dwarf ROCKS!!! :)
(pre-emptive groans free of charge)
I have a signed copy that I should probably get into a frame!

Samurai Champloo is crazy and fun.
The Twelve Kingdoms is a fun fantasy romp, while Martian Successor Nadiesco is a fun science fiction romp.
Lucky Star is short and sweet, as is Azumanga Daioh.
Bleach, Soul Eater, Death Note. If you haven't watched Avatar: The Last Airbender, you should.

Let's see...
The article on tieflings (from Council of Thieves: Bastards of Erebus) came in particularly handy when I was working on the finale for Jade Regent. Same deal for the articles on the Varisian, Shoanti, or Ulfen cultures that pop up across various APs.
I also routinely check out the deity articles by Sean, not simply for the adventure, but for general insights into playing a PC cleric of a particular deity...or when building an NPC cleric to use in a completely different adventure.
I think the gazetteer articles are cool for giving you a deeper dive on a particular city that plays a prominent role in an adventure path...but also just to widen out the reader's understanding of Golarion at-large.
Lastly, the bestiary section often helps serve up a less common monster you can introduce your players to...whether you use it in a particular AP or not. These are a lot harder to locate when I'm searching for something specific, though...which is why I like seeing the better ones eventually find their way into one of the hardcover Bestiary books.
1. T-Dog had a line! Go T-Dog.
2. All this virus stuff is a red herring. Everyone knows that the dead are rising because Hell is full.
3. Always have a third point.
Nope.
Not until Daigle gets here, anyway.

Umm, not that I'm not REALLY excited about this AP, but another Vancaskerin???
The Vancaskerkins are back! YEAHHHHHH! \m/
This would work great with Chase Cards as well, methinks...
Cheapy wrote: Hmm, will there ever be rules for the creation of those sweet robots? Abollans, I think. Someday, there will be robot rules. Someday....
(And in the meantime, the Aballonian presented in here is fairly versatile.)
Yup, strix.
Turned in the revised manuscript last night.
I think this was the most fun I've had writing a book. I'm not promising it'll be any GOOD, mind you, just that I had fun scribbling on it.
I like Nidal. <3
Strix was my first guess as soon as "Cheliax" and "winged humanoids" showed up in the text. :)
Really eager to see a character written with a Nidalese mindset, to get inside the head of that culture.
New iPhone background!
Plot Twist cards are given when a character advances the campaign in some fashion.
Flashback cards are given when a character builds up their character's backstory.
Each player can get one of each card, and can use them at any time as a free action.

When I first started posting on the Paizo messageboards a Long Time Ago, one of the reasons that really pulled me in to the community was seeing the staff write-ups of their own game experiences. Now I'm returning the favor—enjoy! Also... SPOILERS AHOY!
The Usual Suspects
Not identifying the guilty, unless they choose to step forward. ;)
- 'Tiny' Popolov: Recently from Ustalav, this half-orc ranger's moniker is a misnomer, as he's close to seven feet tall.
- 'Blade' Popolov: Tiny's full-human brother, this rogue loves drinkin' and the ladies.
- Ing Shieldbreaker: Cast out from his Ulfen homeland, this cleric of Gorum has found a reason to stick around the town of Sandpoint.
- Keisos Ambrugal: Running from a past in Cheliax, this half-elf paladin is wondering which god he truly follows.
- Kiorte: A human fighter with a sharp blade and a sturdy shield looking for some extra cash hunting goblins.
- Paza Kifu: Always ready with a spell, this human sorcerer keeps her clawed hands hidden...most of the time.
1 Arodus, 4711 AR: Sandpoint and Brinestump Marsh, Varisia
Bright multicolored lights have been seen over Brinestump Marsh, and after hearing the generous bounty for goblin ears (or the head of Chief Gutwad of the Licktoad tribe) from Sheriff Belor Hemlock, the party decides to team up and head into the swamp. After some advice from Shalelu Andosana, they seek out Walthus Proudstump, the self-proclaimed "warden" of Brinestump. Tiny and Ing discover a trail leading into Brinestump, as well as a smoking, partially burnt goblin body with its head missing. Despite excellent tracking by Tiny, the three-toed tracks by the headless goblin body turns up nothing.
After encountering three giant leeches at a bridge crossing, the party finds the warden's shack, but something very curious is going on. Walthus does not appear to want visitors, which might be normal for a hermit, but there's something distinctly off about him. While Keisos, Ing, and Paza talk with the halfling, Blade decides to scout around back and enter in a window, only to find that he's entered into a literal snake pit. When Keisos, Ing, and Paza see Walthus's features ripple, Keisos grabs the halfling, but "Walthus" changes into a horrible creature with a long, rasping tongue. While Blade fights off the enormous snakes, the party engages "Walthus" in combat. Several snake bites and tongue gouges later, the party defeats "Walthus." Hidden in a nearby room, the real Walthus stumbles out, in bad shape but in good humor. He invites them to all stay overnight in his shack and enjoy a hot meal (it's the least he could do) while he compiles some information on how where the goblins live in Brinestump marsh.
XP earned: 400 each
Enemies encountered: giant leech, swamp viper, faceless stalker
NPCs met: Shalelu Andosana, Walthus Proudstump
Treasure found: cloak of resistance +1 (Kiorte), 3 antitoxin
Quote of the night: "He had his head {censored} off by a demon." —'Blade' Popolov, after finding a headless goblin corpse
Plot Twist: Hidden Asset (Keisos)
Plot Twist Flashback: Phobia (Tiny), Pivotal Moment (Blade)
Kazarath wrote: I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of a sorcerer/paladin, but we're kind of in an evil party (mostly because of one guy who refuses to play anything but CE). Sorcerer/Antipaladin?
Bard/Antipaladin would be pretty good, and you'd have more to do skill-wise.
SAVAGE BARBARIAN
Naked Courage (Ex): At 3rd level, the savage barbarian gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC and a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against fear when wearing no armor (shields are allowed). This bonus increases by +1 for every six levels after 3rd. This ability replaces trap sense.
----
Since Trap Sense goes up every three levels, shouldn't Naked Courage (which replaces it) go up every three as well ? Without that, the Savage Barbarian feels a bit naked (cheap pun intended).
Nyan nyan!
GIVE
Oooh Shiny.
I have two obsessions: Sorcerers and Paladins.
Scanderig and Denizen of Leng look fabulous!
Also, I believe most people buy APs not because "they're unhappy with other companies' new stuff.", but because it is the best product on the market.
Isn't Paizo one of the companies that are leading the industry? Or perhaps even THE leading one? :)
Lisa Stevens wrote: Brian Darnell wrote: What is Paizo's mission statement? I always thought that it was:
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women."
-Lisa Lisa, come on, this is 2012.
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their significant others."
Monk (Martial Artist archetype)/Barbarian
The caveweaver spider appeared in Pathfinder Adventure Path #32: Rivers Run Red. Their stats in that adventure are the same as those for the normal (Medium-sized) giant spider, however. For the (Large-sized) giant caveweaver spider, you can just use the giant black widow spiders stats in Bestiary 2.
